I admit, the world of statistical anomalies is fucking scary... some geneticists could grow dinosaurs using hermaphrodite frog genes to fill in the missing DNA sequences and then next thing you know a super mutant T-Rex is fucking up Costa Rica... and no border fence is keeping that bitch out of the US. Hopefully Andy Dwyer is available with his RGT (Raptor Go Team) before shit gets really out of hand. Deescalation should be the responsibility, goal of the police. He's the professional and adult. It's my responsibility as lawful gun carrier if I come into conflict with someone. He should take a step back and consider all the bullshit you just pointed out and ask himself if all those potential outcomes are worth it/warranted. But that's the thing - he 100% did a risk assessment, outcome evaluation when he chose to punk a mouthy kid. He thought, assumed it was going to go one way. Not once during that decision making process was he truly concerned about militias and sovereign citizen movements - that's a well thought out after the fact excuse. He was going to teach this kid a lesson because he's an asshole and thinks that is part of his duty... knowing in the back of his mind that he has the power to kill if he misjudged his badassness (ala George Zimmerman). You can't instigate an unwarranted escalation of conflict and then claim victim when you're forced to kill someone in self defense. I can't go punch Rise in the face and then shoot him when he swings back because he might be a ninja or know Pai Mei's five-point-Palm-exploding-heart technique.
In my experience when an officer pulls up behind you at night they usually turn on the spotlight/and their blue/red lights. If this officer would've done that I doubt the driver pulls out his gun. I agree with you on this it is easy to see both sides, it's a shitty situation all around.
Looks like Corey Jones' body was found 80-100 feet away. This doesn't add up. I doubt we'll ever get the truth with no body cams/dash cams.
What do you mean? Do you mean the officer pulled up a ways behind him and he then moved toward the officer in plain cloths?
I don't believe so the video they were showing was investigators looking in the grass off the side off the road.
SC state prosecutor announced that Zachary Hammond's killer won't face any charges the same day they released the video of his murder. It's almost like they're taunting us.
When a police officer is standing in front of your car with a gun to your face. Don't hit the gas. Another idiot dirtbag off the streets.
Was the cop wearing a uniform that made it obvious he was a cop and not just some guy coming at you with a gun?
I know we only see the worst in this thread, but it's hard to understand how so many shitty people end up as police officers. The kid is obviously trying to drive away and poses no threat to anyone and the cop shoots him anyways.
interesting that the cops first reaction is to justify it to a random bystander - he tried to hit me!
Considering that several reports have shown law enforcement officers are two to four times more likely to abuse their spouse than the average person, it gives you a better picture of what type of person you're dealing with (generally speaking, of course). http://womenandpolicing.com/violencefs.asp http://www.nytimes.com/projects/2013/police-domestic-abuse/
Man’s post about traffic stop goes viral POSTED 9:54 AM, OCTOBER 29, 2015, BY DALLAS FRANKLIN FACEBOOK10K+ TWITTER1K+ PINTEREST7 LINKEDIN66 REDDIT EMAIL TUCSON, Ariz. – One man’s Facebook post about a recent traffic stop is going viral. Steven Hildreth Jr. says he was pulled over for a broken headlight by the Tucson Police Department. When the officer asked if he had any weapons, he told them he was a concealed carry permit holder and had a gun on his right hip. Since his wallet was in his back-right pocket, the officer needed to disarm him to check his ID. Hildreth wrote about his experience with the officer and posted it to his Facebook page. So, I’m driving to my office to turn in my weekly paperwork. A headlight is out. I see a Tucson Police Department squad vehicle turn around and follow me. I’m already preparing for the stop. The lights go on and I pull over. The officer asks me how I’m doing, and then asks if I have any weapons. “Yes, sir. I’m a concealed carry permit holder and my weapon is located on my right hip. My wallet is in my back-right pocket.” The officer explains for his safety and mine, he needs to disarm me for the stop. I understand, and I unlock the vehicle. I explain that I’m running a 7TS ALS holster but from the angle, the second officer can’t unholster it. Lead officer asks me to step out, and I do so slowly. Officer relieves me of my Glock and compliments the X300U I’m running on it. He also sees my military ID and I tell him I’m with the National Guard. Lead officer points out my registration card is out of date but he knows my registration is up to date. He goes back to run my license. I know he’s got me on at least two infractions. I’m thinking of how to pay them. Officers return with my Glock in an evidence back, locked and cleared. “Because you were cool with us and didn’t give us grief, I’m just going to leave it at a verbal warning. Get that headlight fixed as soon as possible.” I smile. “Thank you, sir.” I’m a black man wearing a hoodie and strapped. According to certain social movements, I shouldn’t be alive right now because the police are allegedly out to kill minorities. Maybe…just maybe…that notion is bunk. Maybe if you treat police officers with respect, they will do the same to you. Police officers are people, too. By far and large, most are good people and they’re not out to get you. I’d like to thank those two officers and TPD in general for another professional contact. We talk so much about the bad apples who shouldn’t be wearing a badge. I’d like to spread the word about an example of men who earned their badges and exemplify what that badge stands for. #BlueLivesMatter #AllLivesMatter Hildreth’s Facebook post has been shared more than 135,000 times.
Pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffft.
You're posting one story as an argument against the literal dozens of stories posted in this thread that show the opposite. And you think the one you posted made a good point. You're dense and it hurts to even try to explain to you how off-base you and your opinions are.
I just posted a feel-good story about police officers. I'm sorry you're reacting so negatively to it.
How? Because I posted a nice story about a police interaction? You're acting like that stop was a bad thing. Tell me your thoughts on it
Black Journalism Professor stopped for "walking while black" by racist white cops who pulled up with lights and sirens. Then we get the dashcam footage.
Going to watch it tomorrow night. Pretty sure I know the case. Is it the kid that was suicidal and his gf or sister called the cops and they ended up shooting him in his bed? If so, looking forward to it.
Ahh. Even more interested now. I was going to be surprised if it was that one bc that one just happened in the last year.
I watched it last night. Really hard to speculate what happened. The texts sounded like she was planning on killing herself but the physical evidence and the neighbors made it sound like it was murder. I didn't come away convinced either way. The biggest takeaway I had was that it's really really dumb to have a local PD investigate their own. They are almost always going to look for an excuse on why it wasn't their own that did it. Just in this case there were a number of issues. Interviewed him in a cop car with his Sgt there to help him, didn't push back when he openly admitted he had read the file while in was still an open case, the cops assumed suicide from the 1st hour, etc. That case should have been handed over to the FDLE immediately.
My short experience tells me that those text aren't from a person that was contemplating suicide but more a girl who was scared. She was the one ending it. She demanded to go to a concert, she wasn't in bad spirits, just scared. Upside down gun? No blood on the gun? His DNA wasn't on his own gun? His coworkers said he had a huge temper. Fucking guy did it, cop or not. Whatever. I'll say this, he isn't a cop and just a construction worker.....that gets investigated much harder.
Oh yea I agree with much of what you said. The texts were just kind of odd to be sent while at a concert. That's all. As for everything else you said, definitely agree. No way the gun makes that mark on her eye. No blood or his DNA was odd. The biggest thing I agree about is your last statement. That's 100% true. They didn't even talk to neighbors. They just took his word for it and moved on. That doesn't happen for anyone else. It bothered me to see the DA say "Well we didn't have proof beyond the shadow of a doubt so we didn't bring charges. There was a reasonable explanation that something else happened." Pfffffffffffffft. DA's take circumstantial cases to trial all the damn time. His job is to let jury decide, not make that decision alone. He played judge and jury in that case. And the ending was really uncomfortable when they brought Banks and the brother up and made a grandstand of it. Just really awkward.
Who shoots themself like that in the history of suicide? Come. The. Fuck. On. It's funny how fear gets labeled suicidal when it needs to be. As for the brother, there is more to that story. Maybe he accepted the fact that there wasn't enough evidence and moved on. You're disowned in my family if you side with the killer like that IMO.
Or maybe he really really need his job back and the PD agreed to give it to him if they use him for PR in the case.
It's not much, but the "let me tell you the truth" on the 911 call was telling to me. If you're innocent, you open with that. "This is deputy banks, my girlfriend just shot herself."
He was wasted and angry, per first on scene deputy. Also lol at shoving those pills in her pocket. She had 50 pills in her possession and none in her system. Righhhhhhht.
Why? I'm not obligated to say I'm a loan officer if I call the cops. His occupation shouldn't matter when his gf is laying dead on the living room floor.
