And my wife never understands why I get pissed when she turns a couple neighbors coming over into 75 people. The list for next weekend is already about 65. It's a ton of work and anyone whose never tried it has any clue
Didn't get any pics of the finished shoulder (pulled apart) b/c my phone was out of space. But I pulled it after 8.5 hours @ 200°. Damn, that's the best thing I've ever cooked. Had a killer meal, and tons of leftovers. Couldn't be any more stoked about how it came out. Thanks to this thread for the inspiration...
Wife was home earlier than me but left before I got home. I walked into the house with QVC on the TV. They are currently selling the following from Kansas City Steak Co: 8 8oz burger 12 hot dogs 2 lbs fries FOR $100!!! What in the blue fuck. Am I crazy for thinking that's reaaaaaaaaaally overpriced? I can get 1 lb each of brisket, sirloin, chuck, and beef ribs for like $30 and make much better burgers. 12 jumbo hot dogs are what, $15 max? This shit is so overpriced it honestly makes me mad. Oh wait, now they are doing 3 lbs of smoked wings from Corky's for $50. HOLY FUCK. That's like $5 worth of meat. And this cockbag just pulled the bone clean out of a wing and said it was "fall off the bone" like that's a positive for chicken. Guys, we need to get an in with QVC and start selling BBQ.
Theres a place called Al T's in Winnie, Tx. The boudin ball smothered in étouffée is out of this world.

I paid less than that for my large with nest, cover and plate setter. All I did was tell the dealer I saw an ad for that price on line and he said "ok, I can do that"
I paid less than that for my XL, nest, and plate setter. All I had to do was fondle the old balls of one Zack Zedalis.
What is so good about Royal Oak? I dont think I have ever used it, just because I guess it isnt available where I normally shop and when I have seen it, I am not in need of charcoal stock
Rockwood > Royal Oak IMO I've never had a problem with Royal Oak and it's a bit cheaper so I still use it a lot bc it's easier for me to get.
My problem is that I dont get this at reatailers... I get this: Not even sure what the difference is but I dont care for what's in the green bag. The lump I've gotten from most grocery store chains is better than the latter.
http://www.nakedwhiz.com/lumpdatabase/lumpbag102.htm Only place I've found it was ACE, and that was just recently. I posted a cook before and after of it but I think it was lost in the crash. I burned it for like 8 hours and it looked barely used.
The red bag of Royal Oak is sold at my Home Depot as well. Edit: Someone already said that. I'm a repeating piece of shit
Are all the red bags of Royal Oak the same? I know they have some from Brazil, Argentina, etc. Are all the different kinds in different color bags?
With the red bag lump you get a smooth hardwood flavor with hints of deforestation and complex notes of uprooted indigenous tribes. Fucking delicious.
Ace is their distributor in the SE. Haven't tried it but heard good things. I was stuck using greenwise branded lump because I ran out a few weeks back and was already at publix & it made me appreciate how great RO really is.
I was actually looking in to Royal Oak yesterday, and apparently BGE lump is just repackaged Royal Oak.
