Your cable probably stretched out which is perfectly normal. You can take it back and have them retune it or just do this. It's really pretty easy.
fuck. to me that is a metric shit ton of miles for one week for me. makes me even more blown away by my ride performance today.
was going to go 25 today, stopped at 14. My borrowed time is over as finally after 8 years of owning a road bike, went down pretty hard. Fortunately for me I had slowed as I knew the trail area and thought there might be water there from some showers earlier. Did not see water so kept on coasting and as I hit a lazy curve started fishtailing. There was an extremely thin layer of mud on the trail. I was able to ride the fishtail for about 20' until my momentum took me into the ditch. Then I looked up and saw a bigass tree and decided to go on my side. Fortunately my landing was mud but damn did the side of my head (helmet) ever hit the ground hard. The guy that was on my wheel was not so lucky. As soon as he saw me slide he hit the breaks hard and went right down on the asphalt. One of his ultegra shifters was smashed, bent and dangling and his derailer was pinched close around his chain. Just got the mud cleaned off my bike and my lucky streak continues in a way. Not a scratch on her and everything looks straight. I think I'll be safe and pick up a new helmet tomorrow and other than some soreness that should be all it costs me.
Damn a.tramp I was wondering that that FB post was about. I need to get on that bike game w/ you but only if you buy me good 2 go or sex afterwards
If I had to guess, I'd say most of us in this thread own both cars and bikes, but if/when you're ever in the argument presented in this link, well, all you need to do is cite the chart and you'll have won: http://www.thewashcycle.com/2015/05/cyclists-still-arent-freeloaders.html
bought a specialized commuter bike pretty excited. got some fenders and a rack on her, now shopping for a basket.
My buddy had his vintage C-dale hardtail stolen when he was in Burkina Faso on business. While away, he lent his bike to some dude so the dude could go see his girlfriend... who parked it in front of one of the dodgiest Metro station in DC... overnight... with a cable lock.
Which track? That sounds pretty cool. I haven't riden in at least three weeks.. Night shift has me lazy as fuck.
16.5 this morning. The track had a steep hill, which I'd never encountered before. My calves are dead.
What would be some good tips for a beginner looking for ways to get into shape that doesn't involve running?
A while back I bought a 1988 Schwinn Prelude for a triathlon that I that looked identical to this minus the red tires: I really, really liked the bike and whoever had it before me took great care of it, it rode great and I loved the German color scheme. Tragedy befell it on Labor day when I took it out to install some aero bars and my brother accidentally ran over it with my Jeep. The triathlon was today and I was leaving for Chicago on a business trip Tuesday @ noon, so I had only Tuesday morning to deal with the problem. The good news was that the frame, forks, derairlliures, and crank were okay, the bad news was that everything else was jacked beyond repair and the cost for him to fix it was $360.00 in parts alone, not counting labor. I bit the bullet and bought a 2013 Orbea Aqua that the guy said he had a hard time getting rid of: Said he had it on sale for a while but no one wanted it because they could buy a name they were familiar with for the same price. Bought it Tuesday and rode it for the first time during the triathlon today... seemed fine to me.
lots of people on bikes with "names they are familiar with" comment on my bike with I pass them. A bike would literally have to pedal itself for me to be more impress3d with it than I am my Orbea. You have a great bike, enjoy it. what components does it have?
I'm very new to cycling and very ignorant of the terminology, what specifically are you asking? It has Shimano Apex SRAM gear change components and it looks like everything else is stock. It's a good bit lighter an felt faster than the Schwinn, but I guess that shouldn't be all that surprising given the age gap.
i have the apex and they were really awesome until I hit the 100-150 miles per week + many hills. Now I am looking for an upgrade but that bike will give you plenty of space to grow into so you can ride with confidence.
1st workout in 12 days due to rain, soreness from wreck, out of town & stomach bug. was going for 60 miles when I came upon this in my route (this is a river bottom where I generally max out at 30+ for over a mile). Stopped to look at the map and refigure my route and by the time I was done, my legs had stiffened and I decided to cut my ride a little short. Good thing I did as I didn't realize how much fluid I lost from my stomach bug. By the time mile 38 hit, major cramps were setting in and I spent much of the time coasting and standing up. As you can tell from my start & stop point, I had to call for a pickup as my left hamstring would not function anymore. Overall still pleased with the ride considering the time off and ready to hit the saddle hard & often as the rain might finally be done in Dallas. Spoiler: workout deets
thanks. to me there are 2 downsides to riding solo. no safety in numbers and no extra motivation. i'd like to think if I was riding with others they could have kept me going the last 3 miles to finish but then again, I was just in tears on the couch as both legs spasmed and my knees instinctively went to my chest and I then tried to straighten them out. probably good I stopped when I did but damnit, I am hardheaded.
