Re: Biggest badass thread Tyrion, and it's not even close. Real answer, the Dane guy that swings the Sword of the Morning.
Re: Biggest badass thread nah its for everyone so we can have threads with different scopes all in one place to cut down on spoilers and bickering that was clogging up the show thread. If you want the scope of this thread to be all 4 books just say that in the topic and have at it
Re: Biggest badass thread So many, but I'll have to say The Hound With Barristan, Oberyn and Victarian coming in close behind.
Re: Biggest badass thread After what he did to the champion outside of the city walls I see absolutely no way to argue against him. Robert, Jaime, and others may have claims (even Ned since he killed the Sword of the Morning), but Belwas killed a dude then dropped a deuce right there, lol
Re: Biggest badass thread The deuce-dropping was a nice touch, but Donal Noye killed the King of the Giants, and he's only got one arm. In the "Biggest badass - chicks" category, you've gotta go with Asha Greyjoy, though Daenerys is coming on strong. Brienne has a chromosomal issue, so she is ineligible.
So Im kinda confused on Rhaegar in terms of battle. The guy defeats Arthur Dayne at a tourney in jousting and Melee, (Who is thought to be the GOAT) and then gets Murked by Robert at storms end. Was Robert that good?
I think Rhaegar was good but Robert was just beast mode. Plus as hyped as Dayne was he lost to R3haegar and Ned later killed him
But it was also 5 versus 3 when Ned killed him. Ned, Howland Reed, and I can't remember who else against Gerold Hightower aka The White Bull, Arthur Dayne, and one other kingsguard. I remember Ned saying it was the toughest fight he had ever been in or something along those lines. And everyone knows The Hound is the biggest baddass
Jaime is severely underrated as a badass as well, guy was a knight of the kingsguard at 13 or something like that, he cut down a shit ton of people trying to get to Robb during that battle
Victarian is a major badass. Wears full plate armor out to sea as he jumps from ship to ship, and laughs when his hand nearly gets chopped off.
Still feel like Strong Belwas is the champ. Dude lets every opponent cut him once before murking them. That's both cocky, gangsta and awesome at the same time. Then dude stopped mid meal, went out to fight the best the city had, killed him, dropped a deuce at the wall, wiped his butt with dudes cloak, and then rolled out. Can't be topped
He is a badass but too slow. I feel like The Hound, Jaime, The Red Viper, J'quen Hagar, Barristan, and a couple others would be just strong enough to withstand but far too fast for him. And its not like The Mountain where he has inhuman freakish strength.
lmao Belwas is fucking awesome. I'd like to see him fight some better competition though. Strong Belwas is like the TCU of ASIAF. He's murked everyone he's faced, but he plays in a non-big 6 conference.
Jaqen H'ghar is my favorite character easily, but I don't know that I'd have him in the same category as the rest of those in regards to fighting abilities. He's obviously the baddest ass in Westeros, but I feel like in a fighting tournament or something he'd be overmatched if he came up against Jaime, Viper, Selmy, Belwas, etc. In a royal rumble, he may just be crafty enough to win, though.
and he could have finished the Mountain easily, it seemed, but he was bent on forcing him to admit what he had done and wanted him to reveal who gave him his orders.
Yeah I'm with this. He was too hellbent on revenge to finish him off properly. If he didn't have those motives, he murks Greg and frees the halfling.
Also don't forget about Doran's bodyguard, Areo Hotah, guy ran through one of the kingsguard like he was hot butter
I think its quite possible that Oberyn never meant to finish him but was going to just let him suffer and die slowly
When Ned confronted Dane at the tower of joy, I think it was 6-3. Only Ned and howland reed made it out alive and Ned says something about how he never would have made it were it not for reed. Since Reed is a tiny crannogman, I am guessing he pulled some sneaky shot that will come out later when we get more info on the lyanna situation. Hotah is definitely nothing to fuck with but he cut down arys after he had taken multiple arrows during his charge, and it is still uncertain whether he committed suicide by cop to cover up his betrayal. Rhaegar winning at Harrenhall seems like more of a fluke since it was his only tourney win. Afterall, he was the prince. Curious whether he was allowed to win to honor lyanna. I still think Dane is the truth based on how much people go on about him, but I do want to hear more about specific examples of his swagger.
Pretty sure Arthur Dane is the greatest fighter whose name appears in these stories. I think GRRM has said as much. Of characters alive in these books it was Jaime pre-hand getting cut off.
Yes, he did a great job of getting smashed controlling an army of 100,000 wildings then getting caught by the Boltons.
pffftttt..yeah like he should have expected stannis' whole f'n army to show up on horseback and archers and everything...and we know nothing yet about winterfell
