I don't think any show has made me scream "holy shit, oh fuck, oh holy shit fuck!" more than Breaking Bad.
In the middle of a rewatch with my girlfriend who has never seen it. Next episode is Half Measures and I'm pumped.
Started rewatch last night with Mrs. TC who has never seen. Loved this show first time but wasn't sure how it'd hold up for me. Yep, still really fucking good. A lot happens the first two eps, there were events I was thinking got strung out the whole season
I’ve had the marathon on for hours. It still feels like there’s a long way to go on BCS to get to this Saul Goodman.
Doing a rewatch with the wife who hasn't seen it. She was all in after the first two episodes. We're mid season 4 after a week and will likely finish before the weekend is over. Walt's hubris...
currently finishing my rewatch will probably watch El Camino tomorrow. I forgot how much I hated Skyler she was a complete bitch from the get go. Walt was a total POS too. Everything that went wrong with Jessie was his fault. I didn’t hate Walt Jr as much on the rewatch. I think I’ll watch the “Breaking Bad” episode of BCS with Walt fresh in my head.
Family was out of town a few weeks ago and I did a rewatch after finishing the final episodes of better call Saul. I could watch BB non stop
Would like to hear more about the BB episode of BCS. Spoilers are ok, I watched a bit of BCS but don’t plan to finish
I made it through 2-3 seasons and lost interest too. Love that character but it was way too slow. Guess I need people to die in every episode to be entertained.
Now that you can binge the entire series I can't suggest strongly enough trying BCS again, watching it spread out over the years in real time I genuinely enjoyed the show, but running through a rewatch leading into the second half of the final season put it on a completely different level for me. Currently going through BB again to see if it's been dethroned.
I did a rewatch of the whole universe starting with BCS, followed by BB and El Camino I can say El Camino was a lot better on the rewatch maybe because everything was fresh in my head.
It really is insane how much of my father I see in Walt during his less timid moments. From the similar face and mannerisms, to similar speaking tones and dialect, and then even the same matter of fact logic as a guiding principle that also led to my father struggling to make the same decision about whether or not to take chemo for the same exact reasons as Walt. Definitely gets to me sometimes but for the most part it's just so damn cool
You guys. You absolutely will want to get back into it. I’m undecided on where I stand on this topic, but there’s certainly a reason why some people feel BCS was the superior show.
We're watching "Granite State" right now. When Walt lands at the cabin in New Hampshire and Forster is explaining the living conditions, my wife said "It's better than prison." Later, when Walt offers him 10K to stay for an hour she replied... "Maybe it's not."
Just finished Dead Freight on my rewatch. I love BCS and it's easily a top 10 show for me(probably closer to top 5) but I don't think I could ever put it ahead of Breaking Bad. There are just new things to appreciate about BB every time I do a rewatch and it's about as close to perfect as a show can get for me.
I disagree and mostly because there are so many “better” characters on BCS. Just about everyone who get major screen time on BB is a horrible individual. I hate just about everyone on BB which isn’t the case on BCS.
Yeah. I don't really think there are many good people in BCS. Chuck and Howard are probably the closest major characters that you could say are good people but the show tried to make them the assholes for the most part. I think BCS went into greater depth on more characters, but it helped that we already had some knowledge on some of the characters beforehand that were in both shows. I do think BCS was the more difficult show to pull off and it's amazing that it was as good as it ended up being. Also, I can't really think of a lot of my all-time favorite dramas that didn't involve characters who were terrible people(The Wire, Sopranos, Mad Men, The Shield, The Americans, etc).
Before I derail the thread I’ll jus say it’s a simply a personal preference. Maybe it’s my dislike for the majority of BB characters that taints my perspective. Which imo is a testament of how good a show it is because I don’t like the people but still love the show and care about the outcome. In BCS I thought that most of the people were good but flawed individuals even chuck (to an extent) who was a total asshole.
Kim is the one character that is a really good person. I did not watch the last season of bcs so maybe she changed
Did a rewatch of BB last month when my wife and kids went to visit grandparents. Started another today while on the exercise bike
Started a rewatch last week. Just finished the ep where Hank kills Tuco and had kind of forgotten how good of a character Tuco was. This show is just elite television.
