Ok then they were the best of what was unsigned and didn't have football attached to it. C7 with 5 schools like Xavier, Gonzaga, Creighton, Butler, VCU are right behind the two conferences you mentioned imo.
ummm where did you get those names from? All I've heard is they will add 2 maybe 3 schools, Xavier, Dayton are the 2 names I've heard plus many rumors about a third but non further west that Ohio, Maybe I could see Butler and I know VCU is not goiong to be one (buddy of mine is alumni and said there is no way it would happen).
Attendance and fan interest is going to be really interesting the next couple of years. For as long as ive been at UCF, there was always the implied promise of joining the top conferences. Especially with USF in the BE, it was just a given that UCF would be in the BCS and be competing at that level. Not necessarily winning, but at least part of the club. The Arena, hiring of Orange Bowl Tribble, 100 "Sleeping Giant" articles, GOL always talking about geography...for a decade buzz has been building and we all put the losses aside since we all knew things would be getting better. Just wait until we are in the Big East and then we can start going nuts. None of the CUSA stuff "matters"...its all just building to the Big East... And now...now theres nothing in sight. Everything coming up short with no clear goal ahead. USF is right there alongside us so we have no "we should be where they are" outlet. So now you look back at the program and ask "was it all worth it?"...and well.......youre going to have a lot of people who just give up. The expectations and the promises were set much higher than where we ended up. We could win this nBE 3 times in a row and I still dont think we have any considerable change in fan interest than we do right now (unless we pull off undefeated seasons and get into the Playoff...but im assuming that doesnt happen). Just a whole new era of UCF sports where the next step isnt clear and the reality of "this is it" starts to set in.
We need a new exciting coach and the former FSU "we will play anyone, anywhere" philosophy. I like that we are playing USC, Penn St next year and hope we continue scheduling those kinds of games.
At this point I just laugh. It's amazing to me how much has gone wrong these past few years. I also can't believe a fucking basketball conference will draw more money than a football and basketball conference. Looked up numbers and from a few years ago #1 vs #2 in college basketball drew 3.9 million viewers, making it the most viewed game of the season. The 5th highest football game on a Saturday in November of the same sports year was 4.7 million viewers (not sure why it was that random but it was an excerpt from the article).
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bas...-catholic-7-close-reaching-media-rights-deals Regardless I don't give a fuck about this argument, I was just saying that fox is certainly not to blame for this mess.
Agreed. I blame that cunt in Temple Terrace for a lot of this. And the PITT and Cuse presidents as well. I feel Sub-Zero, I have thought long and hard about that, but basically I'm committed as long as we have some legit access (like you mentioned undefeated to get into playoff) I'll be here. I know others wont and we will never be as big as I thought our potentail could be but I think we can still grow as the young alumni grow into familes. but we are not going to see BHNS expand or anything. Now if there is a total schism in the NCAA with 4 super powers of 16 teams and we are left out in basically the FCS then yeah I'll probably drop season tickets and go to only a few games and cheer on the basketball team.
I guess I am just in denial, but I refuse to believe the C7 are getting a better t.v. with no football until the TV deals are official. There is nothing in the world of reality that makes sense about that.
I really, really, really, really wish we had not appealed or that we win our appeal so that I can have just one season where I can have hope in something for at least a few weeks.
UCF needs to set its sights on stripped down ACC and press full steam starting yesterday. when MD defection is memorialized and BIG/XII start picking their hearts' desires (GT, UVA, FSU, etc.), it becomes as realistic and achievable as old BIG EAST. i'm not sure that the Emperor has vision or leadership ability to stay ahead of the curve and achieve though. realizing that Hitt is going nowhere anytime soon, UCF needs a new high-powered AD stat. this Stansbury is not the answer in any regard
I feel like I'm more over here now because of you people vs. actual UCF sports. Granted its football offseason. Spoiler Team Bortles
We need like 2 years of stability in realignment and go out there and put ourselves clearly ahead of USF then pray FSU gets picked off by another conference.
Man if Bortles takes the next step up and plays like he did in the bowl game, we will be really fucking good for 2 years.
I like the set up we are going to have at qb. Bortles for 2 years and then he can hand over the reigns to Holman or Dinovo, who will have had 2.5 years in the program and 3 years to start.
this feeling I have where I would be willing to swap starting QBs with UCF is strange and foreign to me. I do not care for it.
i can't think of another UCF QB since realignment I would even want distributing cups of Gatorade to our starters.
What type of loss are we looking at tonight? The kind where we keep it close then they pull away and win by 10+ or an utter bludgeoning where they fly around throwing alley's and make us look ridiculous?
He has a Super Bowl Ring, so yeah I'd take him to hand out cups of purple drank on the bench. My rank of QB's since GOL got here...(must have started at least 1 game to qualify or for me to remember): Bortles Hodges Godfrey (everyone below here sucks and it doesn't really matter their order) Moffitt Calabrese Israel Greco
We suck on the road, we will fall behind huge (15+ pts by half) and then get it to about 5-4 points with under 10 mins left and stay there untill the last minute where Memphis pulls ahead again by over 15. I guess that KC has less than 10 points, Z get 20, newell get 18 and almost nobody else contributes.
Top 3 agree easy. Bottom 1 agree easy. Those other 3 you can throw around but i think i like your order.
Calabrese was terrible and maybe the worst one ever. I don't think much of Israel but he is definitely better than Calabrese.
Zack Shields @Zack_Shields Kyle Israel just said on radio GOL is completely out of line when he says players prefer noon games. He said players love night games. Wow. Retweeted by Brandon Helwig
RoCal definitely belongs at the bottom with Greco. They were both so terrible it really doesn't matter the order. Israel and Moffit are a toss up to me. Its tough, Moffit looked alright with Marshall and Walker but terrible after they left and Israel never had any success without Kevin Smith running it 40 times a game. I kind of lean towards Israel being ahead of Moffit for no other reason than he beat him out and kept the job for another year, but I could be convinced otherwise. Bortles, Hodges, Godfrey is the right order for the top three, which is really kind of sad since none of them started that many games. But at least Bortles will have started a ton of games though by the time he is done (knocks on wood).
Watching this game vs memphis I started thinking back to my freshmen year when we played them in the old arena. We were in the front row of the student section and one of my friends is giving Joey Dorsey HELL coming out of a timeout. Joey just stated laughing. He then precedes to steal the in bounds pass at half court then get almost completely horizontal in the air while throwing down a vicious dunk. Turns towards us points and winks. We said nothing for the rest of the game.
I've said it one million times, college bball would be so much better without such a long shot clock.
Looks like it's going to be the jam city type of game where they fly around and show us how much blacker they are. Fucking hate playing in Memphis.
We are play ok. Need to stop the quick shots. We had 2 steals bounce back to them for dunks. 4 point swing.
