I see from the box score both teams shot over 50%, good shooting or bad defense? Love the fact we got Monty, but with his health issues, wonder how much longer he wants to put himself through this, especially with GSW money in the bank.
devoe was unreal today. hitting ridiculous shots; don't think he'll ever have a game that good again. Cobbs just destroyed Oregon in the paint on hard drives and great finishes, while Joseph played iso the entire second half.
Big win. Fun game to watch. Really loving the fact Crabbe hasn't gone totally big time this year so that he comes back next year. Cobbs/Crabbe back court with Kravish/Soloman up front will be a really good base 4...could be pretty thin behind them tho
OSU game on Sat is going to be rocking. Also wouldn't be surprised to see more Cal fans in Palo Alto than Stanford if the conf champ comes down to that last game.
True, one positive out of Solomon's season suspension is the fact that Kravish is getting so many minutes this year as a true frosh and performing great, Thurman is also seeing a lot of playing time and those 3 (Thurm, Solo, Krav) will be a decent big man group next year. I also see Crabbe and Cobbs forming a nice tandem next year and the new PG coming in is also going to see some time, that kid is real good. Also remember that Rossi and Kreklow are about to be thrown into the system as well to add to Brandon Smith and Emerson Murray. We are going to have some real nice depth next year.
Saw some excellent shooting, particularly from Joseph. Kamp shot well and Cobb got to the basket very well. Seemed like almost everything was falling the last four minutes of the game.
Don't really see much coming from Rossi and Murray ever, at least nothing to rely on. Smith at best is a backup pg, and he's taken a step back this year. Kreklow I know nothing about but usually pretty safe taking any major conference transfer.
Kreklow is good I believe. tyrone wallace will def be in the rotation next year..... cobbs, kreklow, crabbe, kravish, and solomon will be starting 5. behrens, thurman, murray, and smith off the bench.
OLB Austin Hooper (De La Salle), DB Johnny Johnson (Fresno-Central East) and DB Max Redfield (Mission Viejo) offered today
Nice game by Kravish as well it seems. Hard to lose when you nearly double your opponents' assist total.
Petaluma-Casa Grande ATH, Elijah Qualls may have been offered this weekend. Not sure about the position, waiting for details.
we offered a guy who is 6'2 260 as a RB? Really? Maybe a fullback.....pretty sure we'd take justin davis first.
also offered jared goff. i know he played in a shitty league, but he makes good throws and reads, hence the insane stats.
I'm sure that's what he'd meant. I'd heard that rumor too, is it confirmed? Browne's not coming to Cal. Goff makes sense on many levels, not the least his attributes, production and his father having played baseball for Cal. Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler The QB Stanton from Santa Margarita HS in Orange County is a personal favorite. Reminds me of Marquess Tuiasosopo.
goff played in a shitty league but he lit up some excellent teams like encinal, Vacaville, Novato, eureka,st ignatius.......he's the real deal and is only going to get better ......he wasn't even supposed to start last year at MC
Ye, it's confirmed. i think goff will wait and see who else offers...i bet he commits though. he should be a low 4 star i think. maybe he goes to camps and lights it up.
Looks like it went better for EJ on the farm. 'E.J. Singler scored 10 consecutive points in the final six minutes, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:45 remaining, andOregon held on to beat Stanford 68-64 on Sunday night.' Btw, didn't see anything, how was your trip to SF a few weeks back?
It was great as always. Spent the majority of the daytime at the moscone for the academy meetings, and I was tied up wed-fri nights with dinner obligations(took a couple of docs to the starlight room to hit on prostitutes before dragging them to Polk St Wed night. I was able to get out and see friends in North Beach, following dinner Friday. Saturday, I checked out, left my bags at the Intercontinental, and walked down Market to the Embarcadero, walked North all the way past the wharf to Hyde st, and walked up Russian Hill over to Nob Hill and had my friend pick me up at Grace Cathedral. Then, to our horror, as we returned to get my bags, the fucking Chinese New Year parade had started and all of Chinatown to Market st was a complete shit show. Was able to duck into the Bart station to cross market underground, get my bags, and meet her back up a blocks NE. Ended up eating dinner that night at Bistro Aix in the Marina, before going to the Typsy Pig and then a couple other spots before calling it a weekend and flying out the next day at 1:30. A good trip, as always.
According to the Qualls article, sounds like Goff is thinking Cal. Good offer, as good as Goff is, it's not as if Cal's going to bring in a 5* QB in the wake of Kline anyway (Browne).
i agree Goff will be a 5.7 high 3 star or 5.8 low 4 star, but hes a loal guy, grew up Cal and is generally good humble kid that you want in your program
Sunday is a big one. Buffs are going to be jacked up and ready to play after being embarrassed by furd on their home court last night.
Too bad about Guti's performance, he's been the heart n soul of this team for a while now. Must win at 'furd and get to final game at tourney to get an invite. I still don't see any Pac12 team playing past the 2nd round.
Seems like DB and RB are the biggest target areas early on...any other major areas of need? Seem to be pretty set at DL, LB..maybe more OT??
Would be smart of the staff to target OT's again. Probably more DL after only one last class. Tight ends, line backers.
Fresno programs in football, basketball, & baseball used to be nationally relevant. Not sure how they do now in baseball, but not much for the Red Wavers in football or basketball of late. Certainly a fair number of athletes keep coming out of Fresno high schools.
Former Cal QB Sets Paper-Airplane World Record Joe Ayoob succeeded Aaron Rodgers as Cal's starting quarterback in 2005. Ayoob's tenure lasted for just one season, during which he threw for nearly as many interceptions (14) as touchdowns (15), and the following year he was replaced as the starter. Turns out Ayoob has more of a paper arm. On Sunday at McClellan Air Force Base, Ayoob's throw of a plane designed by John Collins sailed 226 feet, 10 inches, besting the previous world record (207-4) by nearly 20 feet. Aaron Rodgers never did that. [Kegs 'N Eggs]
I know that for at least the last 15 years, the central valley has been underrated when it comes to producing football players. Seems like in any given year, the Fresno area produces the highest D-1 players per capita in the state.
