Was in there twice over the weekend, including Sunday around 1 (were you there then?) I had tennis shoes on both times and no one said anything. Each bartender I talked to was cool so I wouldnt think theyd be that douchey.
Your city is amazing. Had quite the Charleston weekend thank to yall's suggestions. Thursday Night - Landed around 10 and went straight to Tattooed Moose, luggage in hand. Shared the duck club and pork belly sandwiches. Both were great but the duck club was phenomenal. Friday - Started with a carriage tour. Was cool and learned a lot about the city. Went to 167 Raw afterwards, the bread (sourced from butcher and the bee) made the scallop po boy and lobster roll we shared. Usually bread takes away, or at best is neutral, from sandwiches. Not this bread. From there we thought we were scheduled for a brewery tour. However, since we were the only 2 booked for the trip, it got canceled and we decided to go on Saturday night. At first we were quite annoyed but being the enterprising tourists we are, we made our way over to King St and did a mini bar tour. Prohibition, CO, Market Pavilion, ended up eating at Pearls - GF liked it, I thought it was meh and we could have gone somewhere else. From there we went to Fleets Landing and then onto Vendue. Finished the night with way too much hot little biscuit. Saturday - Went to Revelry around 1230 and drank a ton of beer while waiting for Lewis' bbq. That dude is a nerd but damn he can do some bbq. Went on the brewery tour to Palmetto and Holy City. We had high hopes and ultimately failed but we thought we could go back to the hotel and clean up for dinner at Edmunds oats. We promptly fell asleep for two hours and ended up ordering pizza from D’ellasarios(sp?) around 1045. Sunday – Did a cooking class at Charleston Cooks. Food wasn’t that good but I did learn some useful things. From there we walked up King to get to butcher and the bee, stopping at prohibition and CO. Got a bottle of wine from daily and brought it over to B&B. It’s a great concept for the consumer as we spent $10 on a bottle of wine to enjoy with our burger. From there we went to shem creek and tavern and table for some drinks and dolphin watching which is absolutely badass. Made our way over to home team where I literally had the best wings of my life. Those fucking wings are amazing. Walked down to the absolutely gorgeous beach. Ubered back to the peninsula where we stopped at Leons (great) and a night cap at Recovery. TL;DR Charleston is amazing, everyone we came across was nice, and I can’t believe I moved to ATL over Charleston
Wee Bey, there's a reason so many assholes from other cities move to our city and spy on our thread. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. About to head out with the wife to Zen. Love that it looks like a shit hole from the outside, bc it's the best sushi place in town and still unknown to most. Rarely have to wait there.
Sounds like a good weekend. I love d'al's pizza. I tried to call in an order there once and the kid who answered was so high he couldn't talk. I just laughed at him and told him I would call back. I wasn't mad at all.
http://bittersoutherner.com/generalstore/in-defense-of-charleston cool tshirt from this store that is out of most everything right now, but makes some cool Charleston tshirts http://floodedst.com/
Headed out for a bachelor party. Likes will be awarded for info. - Whats the best tit bar situation? - Where should we get an afternoon drink around 5 there tomorrow? - Going to Sullivan Island to home team and poe's on saturday. Any input? - Eating at Cru cafe and Hall's Chop House - Where's the best late night spot for the single guys to try to get laid?
Southern belle is the best, it's byob. They all close at 2 now which is gay. Where are you staying? My input is good choice How old are said guys?
So tomorrow is Saturday... Are y'all not staying on Sullivan's after 5? Kinda confused by those questions And I don't really play in that age bracket much, but you'll find a ton of chicks at literally any bar on King Street. Prohibition, stars roof top, oku, Midtown if you want to rob the cradle
Charleston trip last weekend was pretty amazing. Was cruising out on the boat Saturday and ended up cancelling our reservations to McCrady's. Had some wings and gamchangers at Home Team, pretty good little spot for BBQ. Fri night had dinner at Edmunds Oast, was pretty impressed with their menu. Can't remember all of the bars we went to but I know we spent some time at Rare Bit, Prohibition, and Warehouse.
Yeah either just go and post up and get drunk, or go to the beach, then go there and get drunk. Tons of talent on Sullivan's Get a bunch of gamechangers/pain killers and get black out drunk
Staying at Francis Marion this weekend for a some girls birthday thing. We are driving down tonight and staying till Sunday. Should I just follow the above bar suggestions?
This sounds like it'll be awesome when it's done http://charlestonbusiness.com/news/54821-wadmalaw-island-winery-for-sale-firefly-relocating
Uh Holy shit Fire/EMS radio channel on scanner: 8 dead in shooting on Calhoun Street in downtown Charleston. #chsnews
Lady friend and I are going to Charleston this weekend. Looking for recs on things to do, places to eat, must see places, etc. I know this sounds terrible, but so seafood restaurants as we are both allergic. Best place for a romantic dinner? TIA
Went by boat from Charleston to Beaufort this weekend. Would highly recommend this trip. Stopped at a bunch of sandbars and real bars on the way.
Arkadin stratknight et al Planning a trip with a couple friends from July 30-Aug 2.We are single mid 20s from Texas looking to eat well, party, chase women, etc... No real price limits just looking to do it right. Probably going to try Husk for a dinner and then HH at Water's Edge maybe on Thursday. Other than that pretty wide open. Might try to fit in a round of golf. Any other ideas on shit we should do in your city? I see your bar/restaurant recs so no need to retype those. Also, should we stay downtown?
either stay downtown or right at the base of the bridge in mount pleasant. ive never checked out the airbnb scene in charleston but ill take a look if youd like for recs
I'm an old married man now, so Arkadin has a better handle on the night life. But I can definitely help out with the golf. Let me know handicaps and a price range and I'll send you in the right direction. Once you find out where you're staying I can do one better and find you a closer course. There's a shit ton of great golf within a 50 mile radius.
We're prob going to do hotel, appreciate it but don't worry about looking at airbnb. One of us is scratch, myself and the other are ~16. Price range somewhere around $100-$150 per.
Making a trip in a couple of weeks. Looking for suggestions (golf courses, restaurants, etc). Hotel booked in Mt Pleasant
Good question, this thread reminds me of the absolute amazing time I had there a couple months ago. BTW, went to Austin a couple weeks after Charleston, no doubt John Lewis' BBQ at Revelry was better than what I had at Franklin's.
Got both of these from a liquor store in Summerville. I was told they were both Charleston-based breweries.
Don't think I'm going downtown until the weekend. But yes, I was asking about the actual brewery. I was just wanting to try a few first.
