very lucky its tied still. midfield doesnt have the same energy playing 2 days later. pedro for cesc and/or moses for cahill needed. 3-4-3 and switch it up. willian doesnt do enough playing with hazard. could do bats for cesc also
Pedro can play with hazard in a front 2 but Willian can’t. He’s not skilled enough in the final 3rd for a 2 man. He doesn’t make any intelligent runs, had linkup play and will always miss final pass/shot. Unfortunately I don’t think Pedro is fully fit so he went Willian. Should have gone bats. We showed our strong starting XI Wednesday. We showed our lack of depth today.
It seemed like it was to win back ball and quick counter. Not upset. I would have taken two draws but a win and a L from two tough fixtures is not the worst.
nothing wrong with losing to city. game should have been 3 or 4-0 though. we got played off the pitch. we dont have anyone close to hazard and morata upfront or kante/bakayoko in the midfield. you can see our true lack of squad depth. We can beat anyone in the world (even real) in a game if we are rested and healthy but these top guys will be asked to play too often and get injuries/fatigue causing off games like this. I dont think we have the depth to win the league but we should be firmly in a champions league spot and have a shot at making a run into the champions league knockout rounds.

Crystal palace first game back we can get by but as we go on it will become harder. I do wonder how michy would look playing in a 3-5-2 with hazard but I’m not sure we have enough creativity in that 5 man midfield even with cesc to get the most out of michy. Our system is set up for a striker to play with the creative players. Michy is a straight poacher.
Saw a report that Kante tore his hamstring but apparently fake. That said, he IS hurt. No bueno if him and Morata miss a ton of time. I thought we got rid of the guy with paper mache hammys...

Cesc and bakayako only two healthy mids. Not necessarily a murderers row of opponents coming up but we are playing every 3-4 days for the next month. Hopefully drinkwater can come back soon.
In good news it seems like morata could be back midweek or next weekend. Kante sounds more like a 6-8 week injury. Team is not built for him to miss any time. Without kante you would like to see 3-5-2 to get an extra body in the midfield to make up for him but we don’t have 3 unless you use Luiz or Christensen which you could do but not consistently with the number of games we have over the next month.
You talking drinkwater? Conte said that about morata but doesn’t even seem to hint that drinkwater is training at full pace yet. Hopefully he can come back for the league cup game and give Cesc/bakayako a breather
