I've come around to understanding if we end up selling Hazard in favor of a club overhaul but god DAMN do I really hope that's not his last match in a blue shirt. Love watching that man play.
Rudiger also played great today. He came on strong to end the season, pretty excited about his future
Hazard just seems like he's legitimately too much of a nice guy to be up there with Messi/Ronaldo if that makes sense, there's just no killer instinct. He's a million times more likable than both of them imo.
I can see that. He plays better when he’s getting fouled and gets mad. Doesn’t happen often enough though. He’s the perfect number 2 player on a top 3 team in the world. Or a 1B. We don’t have anyone outside kante though that is close to world class around him.
Willian will be 30 in August so not a bad time to sell him but the problem is Chelsea never improve squad depth...just replace departures.
Just occurred to me as I was searching for the latest news on our new manager that Conte still has a job. Not that I think he should be gone, but it's been a foregone conclusion for several months now. When do we think the sword drops?
Would be absolutely shocked if we were throwing that kind of money around. Been pretty tight-fisted the last several transfer windows. Would favor a younger player but wouldn't be upset to find out it's true, at least the club would be back to spending.
It doesn’t really surprise me that there wasn’t a plan. That’s been the status quo for this club for awhile now.
I think Conte leaves by mutual consent next week. He will get a buyout of the last year of his contract and they both walk away.
Everything I'm seeing points to Enrique. I'm.... I don't know what I am about that. Better than many of the other options out there but doesn't exactly inspire me.
They just ran an article speculating that conte could stay and the delay is asking him what really hack him means. Who knows.
Do we have a coach decided on before or after all of the good players have been signed by other teams?
Don’t follow Serie A so did some googling on Sarri’s tactics earlier. This got my excited. https://www.theringer.com/2017/10/1...sarri-dries-mertens-jorginho-exciting-serie-a
How do people feel about the Koulibaly/Higuain rumors? Personally think Koulibaly is a quality player but I would rather see that money spent in the midfield. Higuain would be great, I know Mortara has been talking with Juve - I wonder how much cash on top of him we’d be talking about
I love higuain and his game but he’s not someone who’s best football is ahead of him and he’s never played in England. I’ll pass on him. I would be interested to see who hazard wants and what areas he feels like need stengthening. I have a feeling that a lot of the summer transfer moves will be made to appease him. What are people’s thoughts on Tammy Abraham. He got 15 starts and another 16 appearances in the EPL. He wasn’t great but Swansea without gylfi just couldn’t do anything. One thing i do like about Sarri is that he uses a 4-3-3. That’s always been my favorite formation. Midfield will need massive improvement for that to work for us though.
I'm excited about the prospect of Sarri but I'm worried about how we execute. Our unwillingness to fully back our manager coupled with our quick hook for managers is a recipe for disaster. I feel like we get into a situation where we've got a terribly odd squad (Sarri gets some of his players but not all, some of our best are sold) and the next guy has to pick up the pieces again. Edit: I realize this situation is like every other Chelsea managerial hire but his style sounds pretty unique
Pretty much my exact thoughts, well said. Hard to get too excited about a guy with a unique style of play when the club doesn't really buy into it, ever.
Same could be said about a 3-4-3 though. Even mourinho has a unique 4-2-3-1 with defensive responsibility for the number 10. I agree with your main point though. If we are going to play a game of managerial musical chairs and continually change the guy out, there needs to be a clearer direction from the board and the players can’t just be picked with the manager in mind. A guy like zappacosta for example will be completely useless now that he isn’t a wingback. I think Christensen and rudiger can make a great CB combo for the way he likes to play though. At least from what I’ve read.
