I enjoyed WAGNH's description of Sunderland's defense. "Sunderland’s defence, which consisted of the still-competent John O’Shea flanked by the shambling and shambolic corpse of Joleon Lescott’s Premier League career and whatever the hell Billy Jones is supposed to be"
JT speech in case anyone hasn't seen it. Going to be really interesting to see who fill his leadership role next year.
Cahill will have the armband and the public persona of the leader but I am convinced that Luiz is the leader in that locker room and was even this year. The British youth might all look up to JT or someone like Cahill but everyone loves Luiz. Guys like hazard, Pedro and costa seem to gravitate toward Luiz the same way players tended to gravitate toward drogba.
http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation....-celebrates-with-the-players-in-dressing-room Pretty cool video of roman in the locker room celebrating
Chelsea's history makes me hesitant to get too excited about any manager but the more I think about it the more I think conte is the perfect manager for roman. Roman's trigger finger was arguably quicker and more harsh with ancelotti than with mourinho. I think part of that is he loves mourinho's passion and the way he is assured by fans. The two big issues he had with Jose were his defensive tactics and his complete and utter disregard for scandal and bad press he brings his club. Conte during the game, during training and his idea that we mold tactics to the opponent and don't make them play "our way" like wenger is very much like mourinho. Conte though is incredibly nice to journalists, he never throws a player under the buss in public and he never creates problems for the club. When a game is 1-0 us, he doesn't bring on a mikel to kill it. His idea of killing a game is to score again. Some don't like that he does this on the counter attack but he does want the team scoring again. the big question for us will be what kind of investment we get this summer. There is not a lot of football going on this summer. A lot of holidays for the players. We need to bring in new blood and allow conte to build off this incredible season. I am also hopefully that a top 4 finish/last 8 UCL/no trophy type season, while dissapointing, won't signal the axe for conte.
Azpi or Luiz second captain I assume? I know Hazard has said Dave is the hardest worker in training and I assume everyone loves his effort during games.
Honestly Cahill, Luiz and Dave are all fit to be the leader on and off the field, probably more so than Terry
any leaks of the Nike kit? I've been holding off on buying any Adidas stuff. Just have my jacket that I bought at the bridge in 2010 and a warm up jacket bought in spring 2012.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sp...ncel-title-parade-wake-Manchester-attack.html Parade cancelled. It sucks but it's certainly the right move. Hopefully there will be an awesome party scheduled before the season starts next year. I am going to try and make a game next year and would love to be able to go to something like that in England
Stuck in a seminar all weekend, not going to be able to watch today.. Fucking killing me Interested to see how well the team comes out after the league win and celebrations
I read four pages of this thread just now before realizing I was in the Chelsea thread and not the EPL thread. Congrats on the title.
Love how the narrative will be the same as at Man U "it doesn't matter it was a blatant hand ball, one team has played better so it's okay"
Who cares about handball, that goal was 100% offsides. No way you can argue Ramsey wasn't attempting to play the ball before leaving it.
Camera work is killing me. Chelsea on the counter? Let's cut to a close up of Bellerin jogging 40 yards behind.
