So annoyed about the Ake deal. He can play at a high level in the league, is young enough to keep improving, good wages and it still didn't matter. How can you say someone isn't CL quality when they're never given a chance? If they dump Christensen at the first hint of trouble it will be a complete indictment of the entire system at the club.
Yeah, I don't really understand the plan there. I liked Ake and they need a deeper squad so I'm not sure why they were so quick to cash in unless someone or multiple people didn't think he had the quality.
I think it makes sense for him. Conte will be a great coach for him and he is much better in a back 3. Roma's new coach doesn't do a back 3. Plus he can get away from the racists in Italy. I'd prefer to have kept him over Manolas
You think he has the passing ability to play in the center or is he a right sided guy in back 3? He seems like a slightly better on the ball zouma to me. Would rather keep zouma but apparently zouma wants to go out on loan and get a chance at being on the WC roster for France. I don't see how rudiger starts over Azpi, Luiz or Christensen. I am interested to see how much Cahill plays next year but I suspect a lot less than this year
He plays out wide. Fazio was calm and slow so he played in the center, while Manolas and Rudiger could use their athleticism on the outside. When they played for at the back Rudiger played a ton of RB also.
The transfers out number becomes more glaring when the in is 0. It will change but I am starting to doubt whether the club doesn't had conte his third or fourth choice again and we make it 3 straight summers without first choice signings (kante the one exception)
Is this trollception? You posted that graphic, I quoted it, and then you quoted me with the same graphic.
This second one I posted had the transfer spend of 0 on it. I am also still drunk so my below average normal posting skills are even worse
Caballero official, Challobah likely gone based on the fact that he was replaced with one of the Gorillaz in the photos for the new kit release.
What is with the Gorillaz guy showing up in all these pics? Also, we'd be incredibly dumb to let Chalobah go, but he needs first team football. Out of all our youth, I think he's the most viable player to get some minutes this season.
The prevailing thought is that chalobah has a real chance to make the WC squad if he plays all year and has a good year. Might seem ridiculous to some but Southgate was the u21 manager before he got the England job and he LOVES chalobah
Pleased with Rudiger news, exactly what we need depth wise in the back. Him Bakayoko and Alex Sandro would be a nice haul.
Sounds like we are selling chalobah for only £5m and some hinting no buyback clause which would be criminal. Maybe we will buy someone now that we have sold all of the guys who led the start of our youth teams dominant run for 50 cents on the dollar
Also sounds like costa to atletico for £22m. I don't know what it is about Chelsea, winning the title and then spectacularly failing the next season but it looks like we are off to the perfect start
More mad about the Chalobah news than Costa. Saw Christensen linked to Inter too. Just fucking great.
I have remained patient through this window thinking it's all going to be good, but if Christensen gets loaned, Costa is sold for peanuts, and we don't get Sandro this will be a complete disaster for a transfer window.
I think he recently turned 16 because you can't sign before 16. Kid is apparently really good but it's such a crapshoot at the age. He's the 3rd 16 year old we signed. The striker from the Netherlands is probably the most promising
Conte is a great coach but no manager is worth this (specifically regarding Costa, tho I'm sure he had a part in not making some promises to Challobah and Ake about playing time).
5m for Chalobah is criminal, and if we loan Christensen out again, our loan system has failed. Might as well sell Boga, Baker, and Munsonda too.
Honestly not sure what to think about the Lukaku news. 75 is crazy money for a good, not great striker (tho he could still get better). With Costa going, the club will need bodies and as much as I like Bats, he shouldn't be the #1 option.
Great point. I thought he might not want to go. Any top striker has a clear path to start at Chelsea. We only have Michy.
If it results in Morata then fine but the price for someone who has shown a lot less than Lukaku is nuts. I get the feeling now that we're gonna massively overpay for someone instead of just somewhat overpaying for a proven EPL scorer.
Is worth what? Costa is a complete piece of shit who did nothing but talk about how much he hated London and wanted to leave. Mourinho got half a season out of him and hazard and a tight defense helped us limp to a title. This season conte got half a season out of costa before hazard and co dragged us to the finish line while he pouted and didn't score. Costa is good when he wants to be. Give me someone with 80% of the talent who cares and will make hazard and everyone else better.
Also everyone needs to stop running with rumors as fact. Post them for discussion but they are wrong 90% of the time. Remember Sandro deal was "agreed" and daily mail put out 5 articles about how he will fit in and what his first season at Chelsea will look like.
No manager, who will likely be gone by the end of next year judging by past practice, is worth selling the academy products for peanuts because they don't fit some style. The answer to Costa being a lunatic is not to antagonize him with shitty texts. We don't know the whole story but it sure looks like Conte fucked up whatever the plan was for Costa and his exit to China or Madrid. Sounds like Conte cost the club 50 million all because he wanted to out cunt Costa. Not cool, title or not. We just did this with Mourinho selling de Bruyne and Lukaku and seeing them develop into great players. Managers are easily replaceable, most players are not.
Costa wasn't going to China. We weren't getting £75m for him. That was a dream for the board but never real. Could we maybe have gotten more from atletico? Possibly. Conte might have cost us 5-10 million in a fee. Atletico don't pay big money. You think they are going to shatter their transfer fee on a 28 yr old who refuses to play for any other team? Blaming him for the academy players though? That's the board. You can't force ake to be our 5th defender. Go play another season or 2 and if he's worth it we buy him back. Conte like chalobah. If chalobah wants to start, sell him with a buyback clause. If you want us to develop youth and take chances the board can't fire a manager every year. We are net positive £160m so far. We either have a plan to bring in squad depth or everything is going to shit but blame the board. They hung mourinho out to dry by having the worst summer in the clubs roman-era history after he won the title and it is early but it looks like the second worst could be this summer.
How is it not on Conte (and Mou before him) to not play the kids meaningful minutes? Emenalo provides the players but the manager decides who plays and ultimately who is surplus to requirements. I don't want to fire the manager every season but that's how this tier of management works. It's time for the board to start insisting that these kids get a shot and stop making short sighted decisions for inherently transient managers that end up costing the club world class players and/or hundreds of millions of pounds.
The only team who hires and fires managers at the rate we do is Real Madrid and they don't give youth a chance to start either. They are backups. Conte was playing one match a week and had World Cup winners like cesc that typically didn't start. This year with champions league I think there was an opportunity for chalobah to play more but we bring our defense back and add Christensen. Ake wasn't going to play. RLC just hasn't developed the way we want. Doesn't have the stamina to play consistently. One could argue chalobah deserved one or two chances over matic but there really wasn't the chance without Europe and injuries to play them last year. We have started to add buyback clauses now. A sale with a buyback is not much different that Christensens loan If Chelsea's manager needs to win or be fired and they chance the manager on average once every 18 months then no one will take a chance on someone unless they are special. I read an interesting fact the other day. Not one Chelsea regularly except terry (and he wasn't a regular last year) hadn't played at least 3 professional seasons before becoming part of Chelseas first team.
