This roster is very confusing. I know it’s not finished, and I can’t complain about an influx of talent on a team that has been so devoid of talent the last 2 decades. But they have roughly infinity primary ball handlers and roughly zero rim protecting, rebounding big men.
I don’t know who’s still out there to be had but we can throw some promising players at someone to get a 5.
Are they planning on keeping Lauri or is he being flipped for some front court help because right now we have Williams and Vuc and nothing else. I like the team...
Based on Twitter chatter, it seems they still want to sign and trade lauri. I know there were some reports of a possible Minnesota trade. I’m assuming that would be for Naz Reid. Khem Birch would be another option to target too. I wouldn’t hate bringing back RoLo for cheap if he’s inclined to come back.
Yeah I was looking at some FA options and noticed RoLo was available as well as Birch. I don't know enough about Reid hopefully he has some skill
Yeah I haven’t watched him a lot except when they’ve played the bulls, but he looked to have a nice polish to his game. He would be a worthwhile acquisition
They’re playing bad teams who aren’t trying, but the team seems to already have strong chemistry. Even if they’re not actually good, they’re going to be fun to watch. They’re going to be a high powered offense. Also this is legitimately the deepest team they’ve had in years. No more having to deal with Ryan Archidiacano or Denzel getting legitimate minutes.
I thought they could be a top 6 team out East. It’s the most excited I’ve been about a Bulls team since the Rose years.
They still need a big who can score. If Ayo steps up maybe deal Coby for something. There’s no place for both if Ayo can score a little and defend.
Williams hasn’t shown much either, during the game I was thinking about piecing Williams, Colby, and Vuch for something.
Williams is so young though. I think his defense can be valuable, plus he was their first draft pick so I doubt they bail on him so quickly. He doesn’t really need to score with this team, so just bring him along.
Remember, he was hurt for most of the preseason. I like his upside so maybe I am a bit jaded, but being on a team where are he has to de is defend is great. He does need to get a few junk buckets or more involved in transition.
Williams issue is his lack of aggressiveness. He's not going to be traded. Kid is so young and still learning the game. We get a little success and now want to NBA 2K GM mode this roster. This is the crew. I would be shocked to see them move Vuch. I could see Colby dangled but personally I think he could really shine as a Ben Gordon type off the bench to give that unit a very nice scoring boost.
Radio made a good point on Vu, he’s just leaving everything short like he has dead legs. I don’t know much about him but I’m thinking he’ll get things going. It’s just good to be past the days where one player struggling gave them no chance to win, especially if that player was Levine.
he just can’t defend, that’s the problem. With the back court talent this team has, they don’t need their starting center to be so perimeter oriented
I like the roster, but with Zach, Alonzo, Caruso along with Ayo and Coby there just aren’t minutes. If you told me it was possible to get Thaddeus or that type of guy for Coby I would be for it. I just feel like Ayo’s upside and what he possibly could bring might eventually make Coby expendable.
He plays in the post quite a bit and despite a shitty start that consists of missing bunnies and bricking open threes, he's still racking up double doubles.
I haven't seen anything from Ayo that's telling me he's playing ahead of Coby once he returns. That's not to say he doesn't have potential to be a solid guy for us. Its just not right now.
Agreed. I’m just saying where his potential lands as a two way player might be more valuable on a team with scoring than a pure scorer off the bench. Long story short is the Bulls are playing good basketball so let’s roll with it.
We can’t chat it up and discuss what would make this a championship roster? I guarantee you AK, Marc Eversley, and Billy have those conversations quite regularly. We win 4 games and we’re locked and loaded on this roster, good thing nobody here is GM. I kid, let’s enjoy the nice start and continue to talk about the Bulls being relevant….it’s been awhile.
I get your point. The lack of a rim protector will be an issue with some teams, but if they are playoff good, there aren’t many teams that play the post outside of Philly and Milwaukee with Giannis. Everyone else is perimeter oriented.
Vuch has said several times he’s a notorious slow starter, he’s going to go back to his averages eventually
I don’t think Tony Bradley is great (or even good), but I think it’s really weird Billy isn’t trying to work him into the rotation more, especially when they were playing bad opponents the first few games. He’s a better post defender than vooch and vooch seems to be getting winded by the end of games. They’re going to need someone with some size to give Vooch a rest. They can’t rely on Pat, Javonte Green and Alize Johnson to be their backup fives. All that being said, I hope they give Javonte a decent amount of run at the five on Saturday against the jazz. Make gobert guard him like the clippers made him guard Mann in the postseason.
It’s a good thing it wasn’t at a position where we already had no depth and completely derails the seas… Oh wait, nevermind.
Patrick is so tough. The fact he stayed in and drilled the flagrant free throws with that wrist injury is insane.
Good article on potential moves. Jones’ expiring might net them something. Forgot it was ESPN plus. Basically going even smaller and Caruso at the end of games, plus the Jones deal I referenced.
Couple of takeaways from last night. 1) Bench unit desperately needs coby. 2) With a healthy Williams we are to small for playoff basketball
