Tied for last wild card spot now. 1.5 games behind MIL for the division. Need to get through this week without losing any ground and then our schedules flip and MIL gets a bunch of tougher teams and we move on to some of the lesser teams of the league.
We can't keep trotting Smyly out there if we're serious about winning. Give Wesneski some starts. Or, gasp, roll with Ben Brown.
I think he wanted desperately to swipe second after Gomes was gunned down at 3rd but yeah that was bad. Just a horrible inning all around after the Gomes RBI double.
Geez Caissie just won’t stop. 4-5 tonight with another homer and so far this month has as many walks as strikeouts. McGeary also is really driving his way up the prospect lists. That was a fantastic late round pick by this front office.
these guys follow the team and know that Ross isn’t setting the lineup. That’s a call being made upstairs.
he fucking pinch hit with Madrigal. You can’t say he hits the ball on the ground too much when you put him in there.
I'd rather have guys in scoring position with one out than risk a double play with Madrigal, regardless of his K rate.
Bunt was a good decision for madrigal. You're against a dog's dogshit pitcher and morel takes a 94 mph fastball down the dick, and then happ swings at a bad fastball and misses. David Ross sucks but we didn't lose last night because of him
MLB pipeline did a prospect rerank. 12 PCA 30 Horton 69 Caissie 77 Alcantara 92 Ben Brown Shaw Ballesteros Ferris Triantos Wicks Complete our top ten. Shaw also a 55 FV so essentially right outside the top 100
Worst thing you can do with runners on 2nd and 3rd with less than 2 outs is strikeout. Ross set them up for just that. Loss is on him.
Guys our best hitters were up with the game on the line and failed multiple times and you want to do mental gymnastics over a bunt…. I’ve been critical of Ross as much as anyone but seriously that isn’t on him.
The top 10/15 of our farm is stacked. I know people have been shitting on the farm because it lacks the Bryant/Rizzo/Baez top of baseball prospects but I think it’s fine. under our last run we had elite guys and then a empty farm. So when we needed to replenish the lower end of the rotation or lineup we had to spend stupid amounts of money on chatwood types. we should have the money to play for elite players on the FA market and let the farm fill in the rest. Adbert and Steele have turned into studs. Hopefully Thompson can right the ship (looked good in his minor league appearance) so there is good to great things happening on the developmental side. overall good momentum for what’s being built on all levels.
Shaw is pretty ridiculous. 3 for 4 tonight. He has more multi hit games than non multi hit games since he was drafted.
This one is better https://twitter.com/dom_frederic/status/1692002104552951863?s=46&t=28Sg8vuaK7gsFsraHkbhzA
We have a lot of key pen arms who have been pushed to limits this season... Could use a couple of fresh arms is my guess
Looked up stroman’s injury and the recovery time is 6-12 weeks. So he’s done for the season. They’re going to need to call up a young guy and try to catch lightning in a bottle for 2 months
Please stop playing wisdom at first, he’s terrible. Please stop pitching to the only good hitter on bad teams. It’s like Ross is trying to win a bet
Starts Wisdom because they have a lefty on the mound. Then pinch hits for wisdom when he's facing another lefty. He's truly an idiot
