Belle Espresso from Klatch is a revelation. Once I got the grind dialed in - it produced a great caramel flavor. I wouldn't let my wife use it for her cappuccino and pointed her towards the other espresso we had in the house.

Had some Folgers medium brew out my Mr. Coffee this morning. :feelsbadman:

Will be joining you snobs once I leave undergrad. I wish I had the current capability to brew better coffee.

Have a Krups dual drip and espresso pot with Capresso burr grinder. The Krups was a great buy for $100 five or six years ago. Espresso side works great, but I can't get the capresso to get the grind fine enough...I had better luck with a blade grinder. What am I doing wrong.

FWIW, I now have some sort of Trader Joe's sumatra blend that is absolute shit. I've started halving the amount of grinds and it still has a pretty rank taste. Not sure what's wrong with it.

ANyone near St. Louis should definitely pick up some Kaldi. Their house blend (Cafe Kaldi) is der titz.

I'll give it a shot...I don't think there's anything wrong and I've definitely cleaned it. Just doesn't seem to do a consistent superfine grind.

dawgonit -- if you want to just get juiced that's fine. read these threads if you want to enjoy getting juiced up. this is the difference between getting shitfaced drinking coors light or drinking saison dupont. both do the trick but one is far superior. one day give a craft roaster a shot with a single origin in-season bean -- roasted at medium. you should be happy.

i bring some Barry flair to my shit. Nevertheless, it is all true.

French press even with Dunkin beans should be better than drip coffee if you get the water to 200 degrees. That's stopping at boiling and waiting about 15 seconds before pouring.

Has anyone ever bought from Temple Coffee? They're out of Sacramento. They've got some highly rated coffees and I'm thinking of trying some of their stuff. Recommendations?

start with the Guat and the one of the Kenyans. Probably the El Diamante and then Rianjue -- neither of which I have tried but both regions are in season and excellent. I prefer Guats over everything right now but try two different regions (Central American v Africa) and get a flavor for your preference.

As an FYI, the Hondorus coffees this year are supposed to be exceptional. Its coming into season and there's a rush on it.

My parents are in Hawaii right now and said they'd bring me back as much Kona as they could fit in their luggage. I know very little about Kona, having never been to Hawaii or drank it. Are there different estates on the islands? One better than the other? I told them to wait until the day before they left to purchase it to ensure it's reasonably fresh.

Kona is good. There are different estate coffees and several smaller farms that win shit loads of awards for geisha varietals. But don't worry about that yet. I would just get their premium 100% kona and it should give you the flavor profile. Like I said earlier, I like Rusty's on the big island but the variations are not great. Terms of when to pick it up, depending on how long they are gonna be there, and if the roaster roasts daily, then waiting would make a different.

Thanks. I told them to make sure it was 100% Kona Coffee and not some blend because there seems to be a lot of bait-and-switch going on how some vendors label it.

i don't know what to say other than you are WRONG....

from an ecological standpoint do you realize how much waste is created by keurig and the fucking k-cups alone?

quit being f-ing lazy and make your own coffee - better yet buy a press... if you really are particular you can get a espresso machine for as much as a keurig

Rev tastes good to me and does give you more pep but you'll need that extra energy to run to the bathroom as the herbal crap in it will give you the shits which I imagine makes user @ddseli happy because we're destroying the Earth. Never had Tiger.

Since my original post I've switched from Newman's to Caribou as my brand of choice but still enjoy Newman's a lot.

Currently enjoying Caribou Obsidian as I type. Nice dark coffee.

If you have a Christmas Tree Shoppe in your area they are a great place to buy K-Cups cheap so that you can try out different flavors and not pay a whole lot. They might just be a North East thing though.

Used the press this weekend as we ran out of K-Cups and like you said, I was too lazy to run to the wholesaler. I have a relative that gives out boxes of Gevalia coffee like it's candy. K-Cups are a 100% convenience item that to me saves the waste involved in brewing an entire pot of coffee only to have to pour half of it out after a few hours because you really only wanted one cup. In that regard I stand by my greatest invention claim but I understand your environmental stance.
