Lafayette is only 30 miles closer than Columbus, Ohio from Fort Wayne and in Columbus you don't have to play for Purdue.
It's more about actually having to live in Lafayette Indiana than anything else. Anyone from the Midwest can confirm what I'm saying. Purdue hasn't had an elite prospect since Big Dog Robinson. That tells you something.
Cuonzo Martin attended Purdue University, where he played for Gene Keady and alongside Wooden Award winner, Glenn Robinson. The 6'6", 215 lb guard/forward helped lead the Purdue Boilermakers men's basketball team to back-to-back Big Ten Conference Titles in 1994 and 1995 and an Elite Eight appearance. Martin held future NBA players Shawn Respert of Michigan State and Wisconsin's Michael Finley to season lows in scoring as a Senior.
Shawn Respert was sick in college. I'll never know if cancer was the reason he didn't make it in the NBA or if he just wasn't good enough, but he was great at MSU. I still don't know how Cuonzo and Barnes were teammates tho
And he was drafted in 1982. Cuonzo played at Purdue in 1994. Please do tell us how they were ever teammates

Really hoping Kansas signs him. Kobe Eubanks is down to Kansas and Alabama for the most part and a lot of people believe kansas have their pick of Vick or Eubanks. If Vick goes to Kansas, we probably sign Eubanks. But if Vick goes elsewhere, Eubanks probably signs with Kansas. We need a SG bad.

My HS coach's son played AAU ball with Swanigan, remember watching him when he was in 8th grade. The story my coach told me then was that Swanigan was up to something crazy like 300+ pounds in 7th grade, but Barnes saw the potential in him and moved him from Utah to Indiana and became his mentor. Got him training to help him lose weight and get in better shape. Not sure if his whole family lives here or not but came from a very poor family, so his mother being on the take would not be surprising.
