Evan Daniels @EvanDaniels Top 50 wing Chuma Okeke has verbally committed to Auburn, his mother tells Scout
Good week for Xavier as they received commitments from top 100 recruits Elias Harden and Naji Marshall
Well that is a nice surprise. Hope it isn't just a leverage thing for an overseas deal and he can get qualified, but adding him to what was looking like an alright 17 class outside of Brandon McCoy is huge.
Arkansas picked up commitments from 2018 four star PF Reggie Perry (#20 overall on Rivals and #41 on 247, should be a borderline 5 star when composite rankings are updated because Scout had him in the 200's and just bumped him to their top 40) and 2018 4 star SF Ethan Henderson (#37 overall on 247 and #85 on Rivals) in the past two weeks. That makes all 5 starters for the 16U Arkansas Hawks committed to Arkansas (Reggie Perry, Ethan Henderson, Desi Sills, Justice Hill, and Isaiah Joe). Thats the first time that a starting 5 from a grass roots program has been committed to the same program.
Thought Scruggs was leaning to X. Good for BE, not good for us. Uconn appears to be out and while Indiana leads for his services, it might come down who commits first. Both he and Troy Brown are tripping next month.
This is the portion with quotes. I don't follow recruiting much, so I'm clueless to where he stands from KUs side Spoiler BASKETBALL — 4d ago Brown breaks down KU visit Shay Wildeboor | Editor Up next for Chaundee Brown is a visit to Maryland For four-star shooting guard Chaundee Brown, the third phase of his recruitment is currently underway. After narrowing his list of potential suitors down to four, the No. 64 ranked player in the 2017 class began the process of scheduling official visits to each of the remaining schools on his list. It's safe to say that the recruiting process for Chaundee Brown, the 6-foot-5, 190-pound shooting guard from First Academy High School in Orlando, Fla., is a marathon and not a sprint. Coming off an impressive showing on the AAU circuit this spring and summer, Brown trimmed his list of schools down to Kansas, Florida, Wake Forest and Maryland. Not long after narrowing his list, Brown sat down with his family and began the process of scheduling official visits. The plan, according to the talented shooting guard, is to visit Kansas (9/2), Maryland (9/30), Florida (10/7) and Wake Forest (10/14) before reaching a final decision. For Brown, the third phase of his recruitment began this weekend with an official visit to the University of Kansas. On Monday afternoon, JayhawkSlant.com spoke to Brown about his time on campus. "Oh, my visit to Kansas was great," Brown told JayhawkSlant.com on Monday. "I loved everything about the visit. It really was a lot of fun. It was my first visit (official) and they had everything. Kansas has absolutely everything a player needs. At Kansas, all a player has to do is lock in to school and basketball. They have tutors that come on the bus with them (team) during away games and help them (players). "It was a lot of fun and everything was nice," he added. "I knew that it was going to be really nice and my parents were really impressed." Brown, who unofficially visited Kansas for Late Night in the Phog last year, arrived in Lawrence, Kan., for his official visit on Saturday morning. From the minute his plane landed in Kansas City, Brown was on the move. It all started when Brown and his family were greeted at the airport by Jerrance Howard. "Coach Howard picked us up in a Kansas bus and it was real nice," said Brown. "We had drinks and there was a television and then we went to Coach Self's house. That's the first thing we did, and we sat down with the players, the team and the coaching staff. We ate a lot of food and everything like that at Coach Self's house. "I hung out with the players a lot during my visit," he added. "I went to the dorms and they showed us around. I saw the athletic center and a lot of other stuff during my visit and everything was nice." Four-star shooting guard Chaundee Brown loved his visit to Kansas Brown was joined on his visit by four-star guard Marcus Garrett, who verbally committed to Kansas back on August 1. Much like Garrett, the No. 44 ranked player in the 2017 class, Brown took the opportunity to spend as much time as possible with current members of the men's basketball program. Brown was embraced by the entire coaching staff, all the players, administrators and all those associated with the University of Kansas men's basketball program. While spending equal time with each player simply wasn't on option, Brown told JayhawkSlant.com that he bonded with two players in particular during his visit. "I talked to Lagerald Vick and Devonte' Graham a lot," said Brown. "Those guys were really cool and they were telling me how much they like KU and everything. We tailgated together and went to the football game together, so that was a cool experience for me. The fans are great and everybody loves each other at Kansas. "I asked them (players) about the coaching staff and the team, and they all told me they love it," he added. "They (coaching staff) will challenge you every day and they are going to push you because they want you to be the best. The coaching staff at Kansas just wants the best for you." Before returning home to Orlando, Fla., Self, like he's done so many times in the past on the final day of an official visit, made it a point to deliver a final message to Brown and his family. While coach and player will continue to communicate moving forward, this will likely be the final opportunity for Self to speak face-to-face with Chaundee and his family in Lawrence before a final decision has been made. Self, along with Howard (and possibly another member of the staff) will travel to Orlando, Fla., in the near future to conduct an in-home visit with Brown. However, it's highly unlikely that Brown will return to Lawrence before making a decision regarding his future. "Coach Self told me that they really need a guy like me," said Brown. "He said they need another wing to come in and make an impact right away. He said he's recruiting me as a scorer and he believes that I haven't hit my highest point yet. Coach Self believes that I can be way better. "Coach Self believes that I can be a top draft pick in the NBA," he added. "It was great and I love all of the coaches. They just broke it down for me and talked about how they want me to play in the system and everything." As much as he enjoyed his official visit to Kansas, Brown is going to complete all of his remaining visits before putting an end to his recruitment. He'll visit Maryland at the end of the month, Florida during the weekend of October 7 and, a week later, Brown will visit Wake Forest for his final official visit. "I'm committed to taking all of my visits," he said. "I was just talking to my parents about it and we talked about what's best for me. We're going to take all of the visits that we've scheduled."
yea Manning was with the kid all day and is having his inhome tonight i believe. WF boards are getting their hopes up so was wondering what KU boards were saying.
why? i don't know anything about wheeler but i know monteverde is pretty good one of our 2018 commits just transferred from a place right outside of charlotte to monteverde
wheeler is a great program (Jaylen Brown, Abdur Rahim, Aminu) but bet their is more to that transfer than bball they recruit but not on the level of montverde
No clue, but yeah Montverde is legit. They beat Wheeler last year. I think Ben Simmons played there and Montgomery led them to a really good record the past 2 seasons. I think they might have won a championship but I'm not sure Wheeler picked up a couple other major recruits(Terry Armstrong, Jordan Tucker) too so who knows
We sent our entire coaching staff to see Garrison Brooks after he got an offer from North Carolina and took a visit there. His stock has soared since this summer
he hasn't visited yet visiting 10/7 and likely going to visit the next weekend for late night too. unc was apparently his dream offer so it wouldn't surprise me to see him pop during or soon after his visit
Oh ok, I thought I read he took an unofficial after Roy came to his school to offer him. He played AAU ball with our commit Austin Wiley, so I was hoping we'd land him. Which was weird because before this summer we weren't even sure if he was a take and now just about everyone is after him.
yeah he's blown up for sure roy has offers out to him, isaiah stokes and brandon huffman. need a backup center this class and it seems those three are first come first serve for the offer. could end up taking more if we whiff on pj washington, jared vanderbilt and mo bamba
This is interesting spin. His dad is mad that they hired JT's (his coach) son from Princeton instead of hiring him (2 years removed from NBA, no coaching experience)?
Wheeler is also the alma mater of noted Wolfpack ballers JJ Hickson and Richard Howell, as well as Miami guy Dequan Jones who is most famous for teabagging John Wall in a HS game in Raleigh that BigReff73 and I attended whilst students at State.
He was an AC under Esherick and assumed he would have a shot at the HC job. At the least he figured since he was family he would be kept on as an assistant.
Of all the flavors in the world, you have to go and pick salt. Smdh. http://www.casualhoya.com/2016/9/15...n-state-over-maryland-purdue-georgetown-hoyas
Damn right I'm pissed. All our legacies end up at Georgetown. Ewing, Mourning, Wingate, Williams. But JJ spurned the program, and JT2 never put the effort into mending fences with his former player. Just glad he didn't end up at Maryland.
Met Bruce P through my parents a ton of times when I was younger and he was at USI. Great coach, but even better grease ball and he never cared to keep it on the down low. Good luck.
KU had Late Night last night and the visit list was pretty impressive 2017 #3 Trevon Duval #7 Collin Sexton #8 Billy Preston #12 Troy Brown #34 Cody Riley #36 Tremont Waters 2018 #12 Immanuel Quickley #14 Bol Bol #25 Brandon Williams 2019 #5 Matthew Hurt #18 Jeremiah Robinson #19 Grant Sherfield
All I have heard is we want 2 wings and he is one of the guys in play. The official visit this weekend is a surprise as he was planning to unofficial for the Red vs Blue game.
I remember when he committed to UConn over Kansas. I believe we lost him and Baron Davis in back to back years and both examples of when Roy Williams didn't have recruiting back up plans.
