IU picked up a transfer from Wake in the past few days....IN native Chris Estridge joins 1st year coach Todd Yeagley's squad really excited to see how the program fares under his guidance...parting ways with Freigtag is one of the few things I've really liked about the Fred Glass era (new AD) http://www.idsnews.com/news/story.aspx?id=76016 2010 schedule is pretty sweet, would like to see Akron on it and Louisville is fun: 8/22: vs Xavier 8/27: vs Duke (Ft Wayne) 8/29: vs Denver (Ft Wayne) 9/3: vs Cal 9/5: vs UCLA 9/10: vs Cal Poly 9/12: vs Drake 9/17: @ Brown 9/19: @ UMass 9/24: @ Penn St 9/29: vs Evansville 10/3: vs Wiscy 10/6: vs ND 10/9: @ Creighton 10/16: vs Michigan 10/20: @ UK 10/24: @ Michigan St 10/27: vs Butler 10/31: vs NW 11/6: @ OSU http://iuhoosiers.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/sched/ind-m-soccer-sched.html 11/11-11/14: Big Ten Tournament in State College 11/19: first round of NCAA Tournament 11/23: second round of NCAA Tournament 11/27: third round of NCAA tournament 12/3: quarterfinals of NCAA Tournament 12/10: College Cup- semifinals in Santa Barbara 12/12: College Cup- finals in Santa Barbara
Re: college soccer thread This just in: Title IX is still ruining young men's hopes of playing college soccer everywhere.
Re: college soccer thread true but like baseball it's still awesome and the good programs can survive
Re: college soccer thread Cant wait for the Finals at UCSB......its going to be the best place for the Finals, Isla Vista is going to fucking crazy!!!
Re: college soccer thread Bump for the season about to start. Here's the NSCAA preseason top 25, no surprise with Akron #1 and the ACC has 6 teams in the top 12. 1. Akron 2. Virginia 3. Wake Forest 4. North Carolina 5. UCLA 6. Maryland 7. Tulsa 8. UCSB 9. Northwestern 10. Harvard 11. Duke 12. Boston College 13. Stanford 14. Drake 15. Monmouth 16. South Florida 17. St. John's 18. Ohio State 19. Portland 20. Louisville 21. Indiana 22. UConn 23. UNC-Wilmington 24. Michigan State 25. UC Irvine
Re: college soccer thread I really wish our men's team was better than our women's team. Our men's team was pretty good a few years back.
Re: college soccer thread Yea he's been doing pretty well with U20 MNT, right? I just remember when ND men's and women's soccer were both top 15 every year. Now women's just loses to UNC for the NC and men's is outside the top 25.
Re: college soccer thread Yeah, barring injury he'll for sure be on the U-20 WC team next year and possibly start. It's assumed he'll sign Generation Adidas with MLS after this season and be a high draft pick.
Re: college soccer thread It is pretty surprising to see just one Florida school in the top 25. With the Big 3 not having a men's program, you'd think USF, UCF, Jacksonville, Florida Atlantic, and a couple other smaller D1 schools could field good to really good teams. The other amazing thing is that SMU is the only D1 program in Texas.
Re: college soccer thread pretty pumped for the season exhibitions vs Xavier, Duke, and Denver coming up I have faith in Little Yeagley
Re: college soccer thread cant wait to see UCSB does this year, got some great home games this year and for sure we will dominate the NCAA in attendance
Re: college soccer thread Yeah we have a very good women's program and there is much more competition in state with that. Didn't know that about SMU, it explains a lot.

Re: college soccer thread one of the last memories I have of the Vandy men's team (they disbanded the program thanks to Title IX) was a loss to SMU in sudden death overtime...my friend's older brother (we idolized the guy) gave up the winning goal....so sad
Re: college soccer thread IU fell to Xavier 2-1 in the first exhibition of the year Hendersonville, TN native Daniel Kelly scored a goal to help us avoid the shutout http://idsnews.com/news/story.aspx?id=76400
Re: college soccer thread Yup...if I'm not sick anymore :embarassed: are we gonna get raped? or is the U-20 Mexico team not so great.
Re: college soccer thread mexico wont bring their A squad, so they will bring some young kids to get some playing time.......i think UCSB will be very competitive in this game......hope the Gaucho rep at Harder instead all of those beaners in in Goleta or Eastside SB
Re: college soccer thread hahaha yeah sooo many of them in/around State Street too along with all the homeless. I can't wait to see how packed Harder is gonna get for the UCLA and Duke games
Re: college soccer thread IU and Cal-Poly playing right now...in South Bend I think (sucks for them) lost 1-0 on a late goal...damn
Re: college soccer thread #1 Akron vs. #2 Tulsa tonight on FSC at 8et. Akron hasn't given up a goal in 5 games, doesn't hurt when there's a good chance that 3 of their defenders will be on next year's U-20 WC team. Here's the latest NSCAA rankings: 1) Akron 2) Tulsa 3) UNC 4) Monmouth 5) Maryland 6) UConn 7) Virginia 8) Louisville 9) SMU 10) BC 11) Duke 12) St. John's 13) UCLA 14) Cal 15) Michigan State 16) Creighton 17) Butler 18) UC Irvine 19) Wake Forest 20) Penn State 21) Harvard 22) Brown 23) Ohio State 24) South Florida 25) Pennsylvania
Re: college soccer thread More schools in Texas need to have teams. When basically all the good talent that goes to college ends up at 2 schools it does make them really good though.
Re: college soccer thread Very true, Texas could probably clean up if they had a program, and there'd still be plenty of talent left over. A lot of Texas kids that don't go to SMU or Tulsa end up at Akron and the stronger midwest schools. Conor Doyle, who is now at Derby County was all set to go to Creighton before he signed with Derby, he's from Dallas.
Re: college soccer thread UCSB vs UCLA tonight.....Harder stadium should have close to 10k for that game it will be rocking.......hopefulyl Gauchos can play up to their preseason hype
Re: college soccer thread IU wins their conference opener at Penn St by a score of 3-2 Will Bruin scored the deciding goal at the 89 minute mark PSU led 2-1 at the 69 minute mark
Re: college soccer thread Akron won 4-0. The bits I watched of Akron, they're ridiculously good for a college team. I think they could definitely be one of the best ever actually. I've pointed out that they have three players (Sarkodie, Valentin, and Kitchen) that all have a good chance of making next year's U-20 WC team, and they have a couple other guys that've been part of USYNT's in the past as well. Of course, they were as good last year but lost on PK's in the NCG.
Re: college soccer thread the Sarkodie family has great genes IU misses his older brother badly right now (defense)
Re: college soccer thread And Akron's coach, Caleb Porter, played for and was an assistant at IU. The guy has built a powerhouse at Akron.
Re: college soccer thread I only watched 30-40 minutes, but #8 on Akron looked amazing. By far the best player on the field from what I saw. Extremely impressive by them, dominated the #2 team.
Re: college soccer thread That's Kofi Sarkodie, probable starting RB on the U-20 team. He'll be a very high MLS pick next year if he signs, or I could see him with some Euro options too. He's a Marvell Wynne type athlete but much more skilled and tactically aware.
Re: college soccer thread Nice good to see the UCSB fans bringing the heat!!! Just Imagine the raucous for the NCAA tourney......looks like UCSB is hitting their stride, 3 wins in a row one versus #6 harvard and UCLA........lets keep it going
Re: college soccer thread just got back from Isla Vista/Harder Stadium at the game vs. UCLA was unreal...16,000 fans just totally drunk off their ass was fucking awesome.
Re: college soccer thread watch the video of the crowd....so awesome to see 16k for a college game http://ucsbgauchos.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/092510aac.html
Re: college soccer thread Ohio St tied Akron 2-2....Buckeyes tied it with two seconds left in regulation Akron's NCAA record tying streak of eleven games without a goal allowed....see ya http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=87759&SPID=10409&DB_OEM_ID=17300&ATCLID=205003540 IU beat Evansville 1-0
Re: college soccer thread right after we beat UCLA we lose o :curses:n the road to Cal State Fullerton
