dbl is even saying Ragland likely isnt a 3 down LB. If they take a OL or DL that can start day one I will be happy tonight. I do not want Ragland or Floyd or a Safety.
Best guess is Lee. I'd be fine with OL, DL, Ragland, or that Karl Joseph. Would not shock me at all if TD picks a damn WR.
Neal would be pretty underwhelming unless we were able to trade back a bit, land an extra solid pick, and still get him. Safety is a need but there are some impact Front 7 guys ahead of him imo.
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet #Florida's Keanu Neal, who is in Chicago, is listed as a safety. But some teams consider him a LB. Same with Su'a Cravens. The new model. which is weird if Falcons view it that way b/c the big rumor is that Quinn does not like Darron Lee b/c of size.
Everyone got their paper bags ready to wear during the draft? I have my handy dandy plastic bag on standby in case I need to suffocate myself upon learning of our reached draft pick. Can't wait guys!
I agree. I just think we have bigger needs than wr and there isn't a te worth a first round pick. I definitely want to address both of the positions in this draft just not in the first
Vaughn Mcclure 10 players to watch Myles Jack #1, then... Here are 10 other players to keep an eye for the Falcons, with five drafts picks (none in fifth or sixth rounds right now), in the three-day draft: Keanu Neal, strong safety, Florida: The Falcons want this guy, and he wants the Falcons. He's another player who could walk in and become and immediate starter after the team previously cut ties with William Moore. If Quinn is trying to establish the same type of defense he had in Seattle, Neal would be his Kam Chancellor. Leonard Floyd, linebacker, Georgia: Although his slender frame is a concern, Floyd's versatility is what has the Falcons so intrigued. They view him as an inside linebacker capable of covering tight ends such as Greg Olsen across the field while also dominating as a blitzer. He is likely to be gone if the Falcons stay at No. 17. Shaq Lawson, defensive end, Clemson: Of course the Falcons drafted two Clemson defensive standouts last season in pass-rusher Vic Beasley and nose tackle Grady Jarrett. Lawson would love to reunite with his former teammates. But like Floyd, Lawson is likely to be off the board before the Falcons pick. Dion Jones, linebacker, LSU: Quinn said improving speed at linebacker a priority. Well, Jones is one of the fastest linebackers around and worked out for the Falcons during the pre-draft process. Jones, from New Orleans, said his father is a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan but would have to get over it if he's drafted by the Falcons. Joshua Garnett, guard, Stanford: Garnett, is a big, tough, intelligent player who will start a lot of years in the NFL. He's a projected second-rounder, which might be too high for the Falcons' desires. But guard remains a concern despite the re-signing of veteran right guard Chris Chester and the return of left guard Andy Levitre. Austin Hooper, tight end, Stanford: Everybody's talking about Arkansas' Hunter Henry, who grew up a Falcons fan. But Henry could be off the board in the first round. So, Hooper, who worked out for the Falcons, is a big target who might not be ultra athletic but can catch the ball. He'd be a better red-zone threat than Henry or Ohio State's Nick Vannett. Kyler Fackrell, linebacker, Utah State: The outside linebacker can also line up and play the traditional defensive end role. Fackell was given a first-round grade by some teams around the league. He might be someone the Falcons have to consider if available in the third round, although he could go in the second. Trevor Davis, wide receiver, Cal: Davis impressed during his private workout with the Falcons and has drawn comparisons to Emmanuel Sanders. He brings value as a return man as well, and there's uncertainty with Devin Hester coming off toe surgery. Davis is projected to go early on Day 3 (Rounds 4 through7). Arjen Colquhoun, cornerback, Michigan State: Quinn said he'll always be mindful of two positions: pass-rusher and cornerback. Well Colquhoun, from Ontario, knows how to make plays on the ball. He had a private meeting with the Falcons at Michigan State. Colquhoun is projected to go in the sixth or seventh round. Moritz Boehringer, wide receiver, Germany: Boehringer has generated a buzz ever since his workout at Florida Atlantic. He visited the Falcons last week and is willing to put on the weight to play tight end. He is a late-round possibility.
Sounds like there could be a slew of potential trades tonight with teams on the clock. Could be a fun night in Chicago. -Schefter this means Quinn uses TD's bike tire pump to knock TD out and trade back...
Yea supposedly Quinn loves Neal, but I'd really prefer front 7. Especially since my boy Karl Joseph is gone.
fine with Neal, we need a good safety especially in Quinn's system, I think he can get the best out of him. wish it was later but at least he should be a solid starter for us. If he pans out our back end looks good with him + Trufant
Oh, someone kill me please We are a fucking joke And when I think of you, TD I hope you fucking choke Oh, kill me I want to diiiie Put a bullet in my heeeead
Lot of good TEs in our division, an athletic, physical player who can play robber, 3, blitz, and drive hard on drags, spacers, shallows and smashes.
Would have loved to trade back, but there wasn't anyone there worth jumping up for. Hard to trade without a partner.
Guys there is still time for TD to trade back into the 1st round to draft a 3rd rounder. Just chill and watch him do work.
Defensively I think guys like Chris Jones, Jonathan Bullard, Correa, Sua Cravens will be around Offensively you have to go interior OL or WR, maybe the Whitehair kid from K State or Thomas from Ohio State. All that said I eagerly anticipate drafting Braxton Miller or mortgaging next years draft for a TE from the B1G
Chip Kelly just traded up for a Guard. At this rate, we might have a lot better options than I thought. We've got to get a pass rusher. Shit, I'd draft a couple tbh even signing Shelby. Pass rush, pass rush and more pass rush.
17. Atlanta Falcons: Keanu Neal | Grade: D Another questionable pick, Neal is a powerful box safety, but he is merely a projection at this point. His -3.0 overall grade ranked 93rd in the nation and his 16 missed tackles were too much for a player that didn’t make enough plays in the run or pass game. Neal is a big hitter, capable of working downhill and imposing his will, but the number of missed plays is still concerning. In Atlanta’s scheme, he’ll likely play strong safety and they’ll hope he can play the Kam-Chancellor role in their defense. At this point, however, this pick looks like the yearly first-round reach on a box safety that has infiltrated the league in recent years.
I guess they couldn't trade down and didn't think he'd make it to their second round pick, but this move sucks. I would have rather them take best player available at 1 and try and trade up in the second if they liked him that much
Quinn wasnt the guy making picks in SEA and he was the DC one year. He doesnt really deserve any credit or hate for his drafting, but so far- he looks like shit.
