When is your statement? If it is pretty close to today it may take a full next billing cycle. The chase rep I talked to acknowledged they apply it manually given it is a new card so you may see some delays. Mine just popped up on points on next statement yesterday and I hit $4k 3 weeks ago.
My statement balance came through a few days ago at about $4200, but earning on next statement says 0. Hoping I don't have to wait two more billing cycles. I've got some travel I want to book now.
Well first and foremost you didn't hit the $4K as the annual fee doesn't count. As you incur more you should have it ready at the close of your next statement and wouldn't have to wait two more cycles. But it depends how long they are taking to manually apply stuff as it doesn't seem they have an automatic process for when you hit $4,450 the points show up automatically. I had $4,800 on my statement which available two weeks ago and they just acknowledged the bonus points a few days ago when I had $5,500 spent at that point.
I used up the $300 credit too, so that would be over $4k still, but I guess maybe the credit doesn't count for the spend either.
Is Amex usually pretty stingy with their credit limits? Just approved for blue cash and only managed a 1.5k limit. Significantly less than all my other cards.
They're pretty good with increasing them. After you've had the card for 60 days you can call and up it and then every six months you can request an increase. I got my Blue Cash Preferred in January 2013 with a $3k or $5k limit. It's now around $52k.
I have the chase freedom and was just approved today for the csr, will the points be combined or are they seperate?
Separate, but you can (and should) transfer them to your CSR bc they're worth more under that account.
I got the AmEx BCE a year ago and received double the limit that I have on my other two cards, so that's odd. But as someone said, they are also very generous with the CLIs. In other news, I lost my chase freedom while in Louisville this past weekend Took 23 minutes and three customer service reps to finally cancel the card. They were trying to cancel the account at first. Discover >> Amex >>> chase in terms of customer service
That's weird, chase has been great to me. I had my freedom replaced easily. Someone some my mom's csr of her porch last month and she said the call for a replacement was under 10 minutes
Discover must be absurd because Amex has some of the best customer service of any company I have ever dealt with
Agreed, love my BCP. I used it for nearly all of my purchases until I learned about the Sapphire cards.
selected Delta as my airline for the $200 fee credit for my Amex platinum. I recently booked tickets on miles and had to pay taxes. The taxes were reimbursed immediately.
My airlines choice is American. I bought 2 $100 american airlines gift cards through aa.com (Read online if you buy in one lump sum you may not get reimbursed). I have bought in $50 increments before. Turned around and used the $200 towards a flight.
I'm always answered immediately by an American. Always told yes. They gave me the first year cash back matching after I had been with them for over 2 years. Was supposed to be for new cardholders only. I feel like they speak to you like a human, and not from a script like all other companies.
chase sapphire customer service is better than discover Amex is usually great but i had like an 8 month run around from them one time that was a real bitch
Have any of the early applicants to CSR who got a plastic card right away received the replacement metal card yet?
I've never redeemed through the CUR portal - what type of deals on there are usually better than transferring to partners? I just looked at the Park Hyatt in Tokyo - it's 30k Hyatt points or 63k Chase points, so obviously it's better to transfer to Hyatt and do it that way. Based on some comments in here, it seems that people feel that it's better to go through the UR portal..
I ran 2 queries to compare. For both of them, I did United flights to the PNW. Both were the same cash price in Chase travel portal as via United. YMMV
Hyatt has good redemption. Some over seas airlines partners have good redemption. Ill probably spend most of mine on flights with the 1.5 multiplier. Maybe some Hyatt nights if I'm going somewhere that makes sense for it
For example, 40k points NYC to Croatia when booked through the portal. Turkish Airlines award redemption would be like double that Recently bought some flights back from Costa Rica that cost me like 25k for two people total. Not gonna sniff that outside the portal
Blue cash card came today, severely underwhelmed...blue square is kind of a square and the card in general just looks like shit.
Metal came 2 days after I applied. Buddy of mine applied a while back and got a plastic one. I didn't know they were doing that. We were eating breakfast the other day and he used it to pay and I said wtf is that.
For cards that only allow you to get the bonus once within that entire family of cards, does that apply to households or just individuals? If I already have a specific rewards card in just my name, could my wife open a similar one and get the bonus or would the bonus be denied due to us being in the same household? She's not listed on my account and I wouldn't be on hers.
Correct, they don't come with Delta Alex Gold. The price I'm paying is $95 per year. I've had it for a while though so others may pay more?
Really? That's good to know. I don't know if I just assumed or saw it on some specific card but I always thought a bonus could only apply once per household
So I got a Chase Freedom Unlimited the other day. They advertised a $150 bonus after spending $500. Instead of getting $150 cash back, I got 15,000 points. I'll probably use them for a free night at the Hyatt in Miami, so my bonus is like 350 instead of 150.
Noob question: The people that do manufactured spending by buying all the gift cards... are they converting them back to cash somehow to pay the bill?
Just got my Sapphire Reserve card in Do I get a $300 travel credit for a) the 12 month period (sept to sept)? b) the rest of the year sept - dec starting anew in Jan? c) none until the 1st of the calendar year Jan?
sweet, thank you, have a couple trips coming up the rest of the year so will be able to take advantage right away. Sorry for another, but do I have to go back and submit anything as like a rebate, or will it identify a hotel/flight charge and just do it automatically for me?
Calendar year. So one could theoretically cancel the card prior to the next annual fee and come out $150 ahead, plus all the points.
