Can confirm that Avery Liliko'i beer-mosa is the best of its kind. Also have made reservations at both Linger and Acorn for next month.
Capital cities playing for free at skyline park at 830 Gotta register for a ticket https://mlsallstar.fishsoftware.com/webreg/
Ophelia's was awesome. The entrees looked pretty basic, but the apps and small dishes were great. Staunton park was also nice. We did the overlook falls route.
Tried buying a couple tickets to the Great American Beer Fest. Pretty sure all three sessions about sold out in under 10 minutes (sale started at 10). Ridiculous. Welp, saved money will go towards special events going on that week around town now.
Good to hear. The price was kinda steep and I wasn't sure how massive the crowd would be. Good thing is I have only scratched the surface on breweries in the area to keep me occupied. Still have a lot I wanna get to.
People everywhere. Drunk bros being drunk bros. It's worth seeing once but that's about it imo. The events surrounding GABF are better.
Overcrowded, you don't really get a chance to talk to the brewery representatives. You get a one ounce shot glass the beers. Lots of things. There are way too many world class breweries in the Denver area for you to waste your time at this event
ended up going that night.. Had an arepa and it was amazing, the patio/stadium seating is amazing and great views of the Denver Skyline. The bartenders were absolutely horrible. Slow, shitty attitudes, and the drinks were horrendous.
Will be in your town next weekend. Doing some fishing on Friday outside of Boulder, but will be staying in downtown Denver Th-Su. What should I eat / drink / do downtown?
Restaurants in the downtown area (or close distance - i.e. short walk, short Uber, or hopping on the light rail) off the top of my head: Osteria Marco - Italian inspired; very good pizzas Rioja - Mediterranean Linger - Foods from all over the globe; great happy hour and rooftop bar w/ city skyline Little Man Ice Cream - If you go to Linger, this place is right next door, can't miss it as there will undoubtedly be a line. Root Down - Great for brunch or dinner Ophelia's - Restaurant/lounge/bar/entertainment venue with excellent food (Linger, Root Down, Ophelia's come from same ownership) Snooze - well known breakfast place with multiple locations. Steuben's - May have seen it on DDD, but everything is good here. Great laid back feel, doing classic dishes really well. Acorn - American bar and grill; dinner menu is more about shared plates; was named one of the top new restaurants in the US last year I believe Cart Driver - Neapolitan style pizzas; operating out of a shipping container so it gets filled up quickly Work & Class - Latin inspired place right next to Cart Driver Biker Jim's - Bourdain has been here; do some great exotic sausages; low key place for lunch or dinner Wurstkuche - Similar to Biker Jim's in that they do hand crafted sausages but they also offer a fantastic list of imported German/Belgian beers; also provide 5 different types of mustards at the table. Really good. Highland Tap & Burger - across the river (north of downtown) and a short walk; have some great burgers and a massive beer list Williams & Graham - haven't been yet, but always mentioned as one of the best places in Denver for a cocktail Falling Rock Tavern - Think they have 70 beers on tap and a bunch more bottled Old Major - Rustic, nose-to-tail type place centered around butchery Avoid the 16th St Mall on the weekend, unless you love chain restaurants. Also plenty of great breweries in any which direction close to downtown (Prost, Denver Beer Co., Great Divide, River North, Crooked Stave, Spangalang, Epic, the list goes on) Others can feel free to chime in.
What's everyones thoughts on Forest Room 5? Made it there for the first time and thought it was a pretty badass little spot, albeit a lil pricey.
got new plates yesterday for my car as my front was damaged in an accident. leaving work last night and see one of DPD's finest has ticketed me ($75) for not having a front plate affixed. hoping they'll throw it out when I explain the situation, but man, this city loves to ticket
Gothic Theatre is going to be awesome in November. Nov 4 - Houndmouth Nov 5 - Moon Taxi Got my Houndmouth tickets already and will be pouncing on Moon Taxi when they go on sale Thursday. Just saw Jackie Greene there a couple weeks ago and he was phenomenal.
Actually quite a few of good bands coming through town here soon. Trampled by Turtles is in Friday/Saturday for shows at the Ogden and Red Rocks. Still debating buying tickets for one of those shows. Riotfest is also this weekend. Some solid bands will be there. Empire of the Sun and St. Lucia are doing a show at the Fillmore on 9/12. Of Monsters and Men will be in Broomfield on 10/13 Colony House and COIN are going to be at Larimer Lounge on 10/25.

Did a 17-mile hike today. Now about to enjoy a lovely local craft beer. I guess this place is okay. Don't move here other people.
Yeah, moved in May. I've been taking full advantage of everything out here so far...been able to do a lot and explore the city. Love everything.
I really hate not having a car because it's restricting me getting out and exploring. Really hating myself for living so close to 16th st too.
take the bustang. it can get you to frisco or even Vail and back for under 35 bucks with wifi on the ride. plenty of shuttle options from there. but book a little spot and do whatever you're into from there hikes, mnt biking rentals, skiing, brewery tours etc. it's necessary to get out of Denver a couple of times per year and summer is almost over mannnn http://ridebustang.com/fares-and-tickets
I am rarely using my car during the week, but it's clutch for when I had time off before starting work and on the weekends because I try and get out to hike as much as possible. And yes, the 16th street mall is the the bottom of the barrel of society. My office building is all the way at the north end of 16th st by the Union Station light rail so I get a glimpse of some of the people during the day. On a side note, Honor Society opened literally right below my office and it's awesome.
Anyone here wanna hook me up with some cheap/almost free tickets for when USC plays Colorado in November? I can see they are still pretty damn cheap online right now but curious if anyone has a hookup. Would love to check out a game there and it's a Friday night so not really sacrificing missing any big games.
as long as EdmondDantes can't come Anyway, I can look into what kind of tickets I can get as a grad student. Maybe I can get a discount or something.
