I'm not sold, but I'm patient with centers. But I'd be fine replacing him with a FA, or letting Ramirez play center.
Thought this was interesting on the process http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2015/11/nfl_offers_plenty_of_resources.html#incart_river
1. Gil Brandt says we have hired a search firm. No word on whether or not David Cutcliffe has turned down a job within the organization. 2. The Packers have been embarrassed two weeks in a row; we are going to get raped on next week. 3. We currently own the #1 pick in the draft.
Josh Katzenstein @jkatzenstein 2m2 minutes ago The Lions announce Big Sean is playing at halftime on Thanksgiving, so that should be sweet.
http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2015/11/07/detroit-lions-ownership/75388116/ Interesting article by Birkett Of note: The belief is the Lions will follow a management structure similar to the one they’ve had in place the last seven years, picking a president or chief operating officer to run the business side of the organization — it’s unclear how Wood fits into the mix — and adding a general manager who oversees all things football.
Also I am becoming more and more intrigued by Paxton Lynch. His throwing motion does give me some pause, but his size, arm strength and mobility are a rare combo.
If Wood, Ford Hamp and Hamp are controlling things with Martha by their side, nothing is getting better. I can't seem to find anything worthwhile on Steve Hamp except (i) Bill pushed him out when he brought in a businessman to save Ford, (ii) his experience seems to be running the Henry Ford Museum, (iii) he has a masters in Folklore, (iv) and his qualifications seem to be "married a Ford woman." Sheila has generally played the role of wealthy family role player - trustee of this or that - whose main qualification, aside from her ancestry, is that she loves football. Wood sounds like the family consigliere or the family gopher. I'd probably feel more comfortable if Bill Jr. was calling the shots, as he seems to be aware when he's over his head - his hiring of Mullaly to run Ford in place of himself was the single best business move any member of the Ford family has made since Henry II died. This Martha, Steve, Sheila situation seems a lot like when Denise Ilitch tried to be a functioning member of the Red Wings with Jim Lites at her side. Lites ended up with a career in sports after divorcing Denise, but it is hard to say to what good effect. Summary: same old Lions.
I missed the late hit on Stafford on the handoff. Hope cheap was it? Dan and Jim were incensed on the radio.
If we win this game I will fucking riot. We need to ensure the entire program is broomed out. Leave no doubt.
This is a no lose game for the Lions. Win, and the stupid streak is over and no one has to bring it up again when we're trying to be good. Lose, and we get a better pick. They're hiring a new Pres and GM. Caldwell is a 60 year old man who probably won't have ties to the new guy coming in. I'm not worried about him sticking around after this year unless we go 6-2 or something (which isn't happening).
I am more concerned with Sheldon White sticking around. You'd think it wouldn't be possible, and yet..
I'm fine winning this game because 1-Fuck the Packers 2-End the streak 3-Is there any one player we have to have in this draft? Don't think there's going to be a huge difference between 1 and 3 this year
Depends on if we want a QB or not. Otherwise you're talking about Tunsil, Bosa, Nkiemdiche, Darby and VHIII.
Ending the streak would be worth it. I'm sure Caldwell will find a way to embarrass himself against the Raiders the next week anyhow.
I actually don't care which QB we draft next year as long as we actually draft one. Although I'd prefer it wasn't Cook so I don't have to hate him if he sucks.
