Chris McCosky Called an Ausmus Apologist …. By a CO-WORKER By Jeff Moss [email protected] May 15, 2016 March 19, 2003. A day that will live in infamy. No, not the date that the second Iraq War started with the “Shock and Awe” initiative, but the precise moment the DetroitSportsRag.com was hatched. And one of the main reasons we created the DSR was to provide a checks and balances for the GOD AWFUL Detroit sports media and there was no bigger target of ours back in March of 2003 than Detroit News Pistons beat writer Chris McCosky. And an entire Bar Mitzvah period later, McCosky is still the bane of our existence. The man we nicknamed Officer Barbrady over a decade ago — in homage to the clueless cop from “South Park” — is still providing us fodder to this day. Years ago, the dipshit humiliated himself on the Pistons beat when he vilified this website for reporting the news that Rick Carlisle was going to get fired and then never apologized or backed down from his wrongheaded stance. The same dolt who claimed that the Pistons weren’t going to make any moves at the 2004 NBA trade deadline and then literally ten minutes later the news was announced that Rasheed Wallace had been acquired. McCosky then further embarrassed himself on the beat of the Detroit Red Wings where we weren’t sure if he knew the difference between a puck and a stale, three day old pumpernickel bagel. Officer Barbrady was then transferred to the Detroit Lions beat until he threw in the towel because it was too much work and he clearly couldn’t keep up with Kyle Meinke and Dave Birkett. The one constant from this fuckstick has been his overwhelming proclivity to defend whatever local team he is covering at all costs. From Joe Dumars to Brad Ausmus and EVERYONE in between. This loser has been carrying the water of any manager or coach he has covered as a professional “journalist” for as long as I have been birddogging him so criticism from ME is fairly predictable. But what transpired Sunday afternoon — in the midst of another Ausmus defense by McCosky — was absolutely hilarious as Officer Barbrady got called out by a CO-WORKER!!! Yep, George Hunter of the Detroit News had enough of McCosky’s Ausmus apology act and the following Twitter exchange occurred … “Trolled.” Yep, because everyone who disagrees with McCosky’s blind loyalty to Ausmus must be be a TROLL and not an independent thinker. But the best was when the News crime reporter called his own paper’s Tigers beat writer a “Brad apologist.” So, who is going to cover this story in the News because Hunter just murdered McCosky and I think George has a conflict of interest in reporting on it. Oh and did I mention that McCosky BLOCKED Hunter on Twitter because of this exchange? Hahhahahahahahah. It would also appear that Mr. Hunter agrees with the DSR’seditorial position that Tony Paul got seriously fucked out of the gig McCosky had NO BUSINESS in getting …. George Hunter is the frontrunner for DSR 2016 Media Personality of the Year.
And, naturally, VMart is the one to make 2 of the 3 outs while everyone else goes insane. Let's do that again sometime.
And of course this is the start where Zimmemann doesn't have it. This game needs to be a blowout for the sake of everyone (Ausmus, the bullpen, the line-up, us).
Most embarrassing part has to be George Hunter's twitter bio: "After being a lifelong Detroiter I just moved to the burbs, so I lost all my street cred!"
That somehow turned out better than a blowout. They could have packed it in but they recovered and closed it out.
He still "only" threw 109 pitches. We have a team where the manager looks at Zimmermann with less than 100 pitches and almost has to say "even if he doesn't have it, he's better than anyone else out of the pen". Good for him to still get a win after JD went full retard in the 7th.
Suddenly FRod just looks automatic, too. Unlike any closer we've had in a while, he doesn't fuck around at all. Throws strikes, gets ahead, and let's them chase junk.
So Ausmus finally blew his top in the 4th? I missed it putting my kid to bed, but the players seemed to enjoy it. Would be funny if we go on a bit of a winning streak, although with Pelfrey and Sanchez in the rotation, that's unlikely.
Yeah, he crushed one off the scoreboard in the fence in right-center and Santana almost got there, but the ball tipped off his glove and he slammed into the wall while the ball bounced away.
He was my favorite Tigers' beat writer by far. Probably a top 2-3 guy of all the local teams. I have no clue what mlive pays, and maybe I just don't know how things work, but I kind of hope Tony Paul gets that spot. Even if he's an asshole sometimes.
Miggy with 2 hits this inning. Nice performances by Pelfrey and Ryan to keep it at 2 runs through 7, too.
I like seeing JD getting it together again. Either he helps us win games, or he's our best trade chip at the deadline if we continue to be out of the race. Win/win as long as he's hitting. Same with Kinsler.
It goes back to what I was saying about Zimmermann and our pen being so weak, but they've already realized that Pelfrey giving them 5 solid innings is good enough and the leash needs to be short when that happens. If he gets through 6, awesome. But they can't push their luck there. They were a little late tonight, but Ryan did the job to get out of it.
Barring something terrible happening where he would need another AB, this is the third game this season in which Upton did not strike out at least once. By comparison, he has 8 three strikeout games.
Upton with 2 hits and only 1 K so far today. Verlander with 9 Ks through 5, pitch count is pretty good at 74. Would be nice to get a clean 7 innings and 10+ Ks from him today. The bullpen is rested and we have off day tomorrow, so no need for him to throw more than a 110 pitches.
Verlander struggles through the 7th, but only ends up giving up a run. Brad sends him out for the 8th at 102 pitches despite, as I mentioned, a rested bullpen and an off day tomorrow. And he's greeted by a line drive double off the wall with the heart of the order coming up. Jesus Brad, c'mon. It's a 5 run lead, use your bullpen and let JV end on a good note.
After a walk, Justin leaves at 112 pitches with two on with one out. I don't get Brad's infatuation with extending guys 2-3 hitters past a natural exit point instead of letting a reliever come in to start an inning. On the plus side, that's 22 innings and 27 Ks over JV's last 3 starts.
