Couple rough outings for Frankie where he still gets the save. He's due to blow one soon, but hopefully not. If the Dodgers beat the BoSox we wake up in the playoffs.
fuck Matthew B. Mowery @matthewbmowery Castellanos non-displaced fracture of the fifth metacarpal of left hand.
Casey McGehee was already taken out of the Toledo line-up so he can come up and replace Castellanos tomorrow
Tony Paul @TonyPaul1984 And now @jwagnerblade says #Tigers are placing Jordan Zimmermann on the DL.Aug 6, 2016, 9:46 PM
It's amazing how bad Mike Aviles is defensively at all the positions they play him at, considering that's the only reason he's supposed to ever play.
Has the lineup all been healthy ever this season? I mean for the most part I don't think we've ever been missing more than one batter
Pretty much every free agent signing by Avila was a disaster. I'll give him a pass on Zimmerman due to injury, but he was pretty shitty outside of April. Lowe - sucks PElfrey - sucks Aviles - sucks UPton- barely better than a replacement level player His trades were nice though, but I'm sure he'd love a mulligan on that 60 million he wasted on those guys over the winter. Amazing we are still in the hunt, despite his horrible moves.
Pelfrey was stupid. Lowe is just a case of relievers being bad investments from one year to the next. Aviles is making something like $1M. I don't like him on the team, but it's hard to talk shit about a move that small. Upton got off to an embarrassingly awful start, but has been fine for a while and will probably be what they expected the rest of this year and next. I don't think the Upton investment was a black mark on Avila any more than David Price is on Dombrowski. Sometimes guys have bad years. If you take out the Pelfrey signing, Avila did pretty well in his first offseason considering he has a maniac owner who wanted to throw out insane amounts of money.
The Pelfrey signing is near unforgivable. Why anyone would sign a guy with his track record to a 2 year deal is completely beyond me.
Wish the back end of the pen was more rested so we could pull Sanchez after his best start of the season instead of trying to stretch it beyond 7.
Clark was waving Martinez home. Martinez stopped on his own. Not Upton's fault if they're waving him around.
Surprised he went to KRod here. This is third day in a row and fourth in five. He's pitched pretty poorly during that stretch, too.
Sanchez had been pitching a lot better before tonight. Maybe that was just a mirage, but it's probably not a huge surprise that he wouldn't deal well with a 3 hour delay before his start, at this point in his career.
I thought we beat the injury bug this year after going on that run with Zimmerman out. Turns out the injury bug was not amused.
