There aren't that many huskies available around me. I've found some like 7-8 week old puppies but those litters seem to go quick. I found a couple around a year old but they are both (Sponsor only now) because they have health issues and aren't ready to be adopted. Also found one about 7 years old, not sure I want a dog that old. I guess I will keep looking
Fwiw, we rescued our dog at 7. He's been awesome, and we never had the puppy issues that you've talked about. One way to look at it is that an older dog has probably had a rougher life, so it feels good to spoil the shit out of him for the rest of his life (which is hopefully a long time). Older dogs typically don't get adopted as fast as puppies.
paige is my first dog and i couldn't imagine not rescuing for any other dogs. breaks my heart that someone may have decided they just didn't want her anymore and dumped her on the street
We rescued Sugar when she was 3, and after her abusive life as a puppy we spoiled her rotten, and she lived a fat and happy 11/12 years with us.
I think we'd like a puppy to get to see it grow for our 2nd dog, but there are plenty of those at rescues as well.
Paisley is being such a child with her food. She just won't eat it but if we put s little chicken or wet food in and mix it in...she eats. So she isn't sick or anything...just acting like a kid in front of vegetables.
NSIAP: This may be the most fucked up thing I've ever heard. I wish I could pause my life for a few days to lead the man hunt for these bastards. This infuriates me... http://www.cbsnews.com/news/dogs-body-found-with-note-we-beat-it-2-death-lol/
god dammit, I swear if I was a rich man I would hire some bounty hunter to find these fucks pay to have them fucked up
I went and saw the Malamute, basically the person at humane society and I decided probably not a good match. They said she is an alpha female, she doesn't like other dogs and all the other dogs bark at her when they walk her through. She said I couldn't take her to a dog park, that she might try and go after the dogs in my neighbors yard since there is only a chained link fence between them and she could see them. Also said she wasn't sure how she would do with my young niece and nephews They basically made it sound like she is a good dog only if she is basically by herself and adults and older kids. Maybe young kids too, but not if other dogs are around
Thats a tough one, i wanna say you can in fact teach an old dog new tricks, ive seen quite a bit of change in my older rescues behavior, no longer chases deer, no longer growls and barks at bigger dogs when they are close and meeting But i dont know much about the breed you are wanting, and or your experience training dogs
Just threw down a non-refundable deposit on a yet to be born puppy. I am officially a future 1st time dog owner.
What breed? I think I am going to join you, trying to set up a visit to see this puppy soon, I think I worked out where I could get a neighbor to let a puppy out while at work.
That's a great looking pup right there. Put my deposit down on a Pomsky (Pomeranian-Husky crossbreed). Props to Pelican for schooling me on these beautiful creatures.
Good question and good luck dealing with that conundrum. Took me a long time to make a decision. Had it down to Sabo and Ickey (probably my two favorite childhood athletes) but it wasn't an easy call. Several people in my family have named their dogs after OSU players/coaches/etc (Woody, Archie, whatever) so I decided to go a slightly different route. One of my buddies had a husky named Omar in honor of Mr. Little. Did they tell you when you will be able to get the pup yet? I know you said it would be a while. BTW I saw the pomsky at the park again over the weekend and he kept wanting me to rub his belly
Won't be until February unfortunately. This naming thing is a big deal because this will be the answer to my security question for the rest of my life.
So far in terms of names the GF likes Braxton (she has no idea who Braxton Miller is) and I like Marlo.
Have that exact same toy. It was Chloe's favorite until she tore the squeaker out of it and started shitting pink. She no longer has that ball.
The little guy is growing up so fast on us. Gonna be a good looking golden Trying his best to stay awake in the back seat
UPDATE: The breeder I chose sold a puppy to Joseph Fauria of the Detroit Lions. Joseph Fauria ✔@BigJoeFauria Now I'm only concentrating on getting back on the field ASAP! Please no death threats to Lil' Rufio, he's just a pup!
Granted it is 6 months away, but I have never owned a dog before--what purchases should I be making in advance of Marlo's arrival? Money is no object, I fully intend on spoiling the shit out of my dog.
I think Barkley might've been abused by his previous owners. Whenever I take my belt off around him, he sprints to his crate, and he won't come out until the belt is out of sight.
