So, he's kind of like King Ralph. The reason I asked is because his health seems a lot better than the Ugas'.
That's bc Seiler lost the Uga line after Uga VI. Long story that I don't have time to tell right now but I know for a fact that VII and VIII weren't bloodline dogs. Maybe he has it back, idk. Bear's brother was a cunt hair from being Uga VII but Seiler wanted Woods to sign off that he'd never publicly state he bread him and Woods wouldn't agree to it. There were even pics on blogs of Bear's brother saying he'd be the next Uga. Would have been cool.
Update on our pug. He scared us pretty bad last month but thr new meds have helped a ton. His back left leg is still pretty lame but he's learned to deal it pretty well. He's back to being happy again.
Parents are putting our oldest dog to sleep on the 5th. Liver issues and starting to get dementia. :(
Going out of town next month for a couple of weeks and thinking about boarding my two dogs. Never had to board them before, we usually have my wife's mom just stay over but that's not an option this time. What's the going rate for two 40 pound dogs per night? Shit looks like it's going to be expensive.
Where we go it's $40 a night, but that includes one full day of daycare too. Speaking of, I had to board Layla because of work one night this week (bff is out of town). I got home kind of late to a completely empty house and was lonely as shit. I missed the hound most.
Yea mine is $32 per day/night. Worth it because she loves it and gets to play with 30 other dogs all day.
A little frustrated right now. Two weekends ago I noticed Mack was favoring his front right paw. It was a little swollen but I couldn't find a cut or anything so I assumed he got stung by something. There was a dead yellow jacket on the kitchen floor Friday afternoon so I figured that was it. Gave him some benadryl but it didn't help so I took him into the vet. They did an exam, didn't find anything and sent him home with some medicine. It got progressively worse over the next few days so I took him back. Same result, just a lot more medicine. Still got worse, to the point where it opened up and he was bleeding, not able to put any weight on it, etc. Took him back in today and they're gonna sedate him and try and figure out what's going on. He's happy and seems like his normal self other than he can't walk. All told, this will cost between $500-600. Hope they can get him fixed up.
Found a pea sized bump above my dog's ear. I really don't think it's a tick, because it looks to be completely under the skin. It does have a grayish color at the top of the bump, so I guess it could e a tick that's completely under the skin. Anybody dealt with anything like this?
Went and met an awesome 4 year old grayhound today. Gonna start the process to hopefully take him home.
Met with the prospective adoptee today. He looks great. He's got a vet appointment Thursday for another heartworm treatment and to make sure the mange is 100% cured.
Talked to the rescue today and confirmed that we're going to adopt him as soon as he gets confirmed as non-contagious. We're going to call him Samson on account of having lost all his hair.

It has become increasingly evident that while the breeder I am using breeds great dogs, she is a shit tier human being, unspeakably unprofessional, broke, and desperate for money. I'm supposed to be receiving a puppy in the next 4-6 weeks, but I have no idea if I am going to or not because I have received pretty close to zero communication over the last 9.5 months. I made a timeline of events in case I have to pursue legal action, which is looking increasingly likely every day. ES is my GF, JM is me, SCP is the shit tier human being breeder. What do you think I should do? August 11, 2015 - ES and JM separately contact SCP inquiring about details on how to get on SCP wait list, wait list time, and cost. August 11, 2015 - SCP expresses to JM that most recent litter will have "mostly cleared" her wait list and that "6 months is typical for wait time but can be much sooner depending on how many puppies and litters". August 11, 2015 - SCP informs ES that she "would be with the next round of litters feb" (February) August 11, 2015 - ES sends $1000 deposit to SCP August 18, 2015 - ES submits signed Purchase Agreement to SCP October 26, 2015 - ES messages SCP asking if she should still be expecting a puppy in February. SCP informs ES that puppies won't be born until March, insinuating a May delivery date with 8 week waiting period. They have both paid IN FULL ($3500). Really sad story. The girl I am referring to above (from today) is in a wheelchair and has a mental handicap as well. She called my GF and was basically crying. This poor girl and her friend both sent this breeder $3500 TWO YEARS ago. Of course I'm not sure how accurate this is because of the mental handicap, but everything she said to my GF lines up with what we are experiencing, so I tend to believe her.
Also someone beat me to be punch on Cy. They are bringing two females over Saturday that have both been fostered alone so they shouldn't have issues with separation anxiety. We will see how they like the house and how we bond on Saturday. Only thing is one isn't small dog safe and the other hasnt been evaluated on that. My parents have two small dogs so I'd have to be very careful with them when I go to visit.
Took Casey to the dog park for the first time Sunday; he was a bit overwhelmed at first but warmed up.
Any vets or people knowledgeable about dog issues? We have two shar pei's (both are 6). Our female's ears are really narrow, and it seems no matter much we clean she always gets ear infections. About two weeks ago she got one and we went through the usual protocol (ear medication), stopping the ear meds last Wednesday. We took her for a walk on Wednesday night and we we got home she was limping a little bit, not bad though. The next day the limp was gone but she has been really lethargic since Thursday. She has also been eating a ton (she is finishing all of her food every meal, which she rarely does ever). She is drinking water and not throwing up, but just looks out of it. Probably gonna take her to the vet tomorrow, but wondering if anyone had ideas of what could be wrong?
that sucks. my sister and folks got scammed by a person (whose job is a general contractor) they knew and trusted. not sure the amount they got scammed out of (prob close to 10k), I've pressured them to take legal action. Less so for the recovery of the actual money and moreso to make sure the person gets an appropriate rap sheet, that will hopefully prevent him from doing it to others. also read recently about a guy who lives near me who got scammed by his GC, and he had paperwork too. I've learned from that to always CYA with paperwork and more paperwork. best of luck GGCD
Here's the two females they are bringing to my house Saturday. Personalities aside, I'm not sure which I like better looks wise. The black one is 2, not cat safe, not tested for small dogs yet. The white one is 4 and isn't cat or small dog safe. Not that I'll have a small dog (other than when I get a german shepherd puppy) or a cat. Just means when I go to visit my parents I'll have to not leave either one alone with their animals. Assuming either one of them likes me and my house that is.

Yeah, I'm on the adopt train as well, but I'll never fault somebody for buying what they want from a responsible breeder. I think people can irresponsibly rescue just as well as irresponsibly buy.

They shouldn't be, but they are, apparently. I got an email from her saying that we are #5 on the wait list, but with pick of litter and second pick of litter, that will actually be #11 on the wait list. Better than nothing, but I'm still not pumped about it.
I know his response is late, but Beaux had drop tail two summers ago I believe. I could definitely tell he was bummed that his tail was drooping, but it went away eventually. He had played exceptionally hard the day before and did a lot of swimming. The next day his tail was drooping. Just takes time and make sure your dog takes it easy until it goes away.
