Kaiser can't board where we take Layla until he's neutered and can't be neutered until his heartworm treament ends. So, we aren't going anywhere any time soon. The thought of leaving him at the vet (and him possibly thinking it's for good) makes me too sad.
We've taken Moose to Dog Days a few times, but it will be his first time boarded, luckily Maisy will be there and is a boarding veteran, although they will be separated a most of the time. The first time I boarded Maisy, I teared up as I left and was broken-hearted the whole time I was at the beach thinking that she probably believed we had left her forever. What is going to suck is that this is the last time Moose can be boarded there as next week he turns 6 months, and he is a Great Dane and they don't recommend you neuter them until 1-1.5 years...
Welp. I know what I'm donating to next. https://www.youtube.com/user/AnimalAidUnlimited/videos http://animalaidunlimited.org/ Spoiler
Taking Nymeria to my parents house this weekend. Will be the first time I've had her off leash outside. Can't wait to see her stretch those legs. She started to run the other day and in one stride went from at my side to stretching all 6 feet of leash and yanking my arm.
We're going to take gus to meet potential siblings from rescues posted up at petsmart's national adoption weekend
I think it's actually all weekend. So definitely don't go today, but please stop by on Saturday and Sunday.
I have to board Nymeria for three days at the end of the month for a work trip. She's gone a think I gave e her up Her dog walker is gonna board her at her apartment so I hope that helps.
just think how much less worried she will be if she has a friend to stay with her, guess you really should go to petsmart
http://www.people.com/article/hero-dog-saves-florida-girl-from-rattlesnake Meet Haus the German shepherd – and rescue dog. Haus paid his owners back for adopting him from a shelter by stepping in when their daughter was threatened by a snake this week, the Associated Pressreports. When a venomous Eastern diamondback rattlesnake appeared in the DeLuca family's Tampa backyard where 7-year-old Molly was playing, the heroic dog stood his ground, even after the snake bit his leg three times. Haus, whose kidneys were damaged by the bites, is currently recovering in the Intensive Care Unit of Tampa's Pearl Emergency Veterinary and Specialty Hospital. He is being treated with anti-venom and painkillers, Dr. John Gicking told the AP. "Without the pain medication, he's in pain," Gicking said. "He's responsive, he's alert and his leg is swollen and uncomfortable." A GoFundMe page set up to defray Haus' hospital costs has raised over $51,000 – well over the $28,000 goal – since Wednesday. The family has pledged to donate all the extra money to local rescue organization Heidi's Legacy Rescue and other charities. Molly's father Adam told the AP Haus has "exceeded [the family's] expectations all the way around" since they adopted him two months ago. "Right away, the kids were hugging and loving on him, he always took it, he never did anything. Whenever anyone came to the door, he would start barking and try to be protective," DeLuca said. "He has just been an amazing dog. He's the type of dog that when you want to go buy a dog, you pay thousands of dollars and that's the dog you get. But we adopted him and got him for free."
We came pretty close to getting this 8 month old cairn terrier today. Incredibly sweet, just a little too high energy for gus. She kept jumping on his little head. Lol. Anyone in the dallas area should take a look. She's only $20 during this weekend's adoption drive. https://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/35014550
my buddy is bringing over his dog to meet paige while we have some beers little nervous bc paige is soooo much bigger than the other dog (maltipoo) but paige is a sweetheart and loves meeting new dogs so i am excited
Little Luna after an hour and a half at the dog park. Loves going up to water buckets and just sticking her head in.
I learned today that I'm not very good at gauging food for two dogs. We ran completely out this morning, and since we've started getting it through the vet that means we're out until tomorrow. Tonight, the hounds will eat like kings -- chicken, peas, and brown rice. That's what their food is made of, so hopefully it doesn't make them shit their brains out.
Some neighborhood cat came up to my back door last night and sent Nymeria into a frenzy. Then this morning I open the door to go out and the cat starts coming in my house. Like "you have a death wish cat". Had to chase it out of the house before Nymeria went after it.
So this morning at the dog park - I get there and this woman is pushing around a tiny ass stroller around the park. I looked too small, like for a doll and not a baby. She comes around by us and there's 2 Chihuahuas in it. Truman has figured out that strollers usually mean there's food around, so he starts sniffing around it and poking his head in. She starts screaming at him to get away. Called him away and told the lady he was just curious and he wont hurt them. About 10 minutes later, when she leaves the park, she left both of the double gates open and 4 dogs run out of the park and into the street during rush hour. Everyone starts yelling at her and she yells back saying they need to control their dogs better. LOL. WTF
Should have taken pics and have her banned. Also someone leaving the gate open is my biggest fear in taking my dog to a dog park. If she bolts there's no stopping/catching her.
I doubt you'd have to take pics. Everyone knows that one crazy woman who brings their rats to the park in a stroller. Can spot them from a mile away.
Had a guy open the gate at the dog park I used to frequent to intentionally let my dog out. He had brought his 7 year old human daughter (no dog) to the dog park so she could play with all the dogs and got mad when mine started chasing her as she ran around the park. I have never had to show so much restraint from beating someone's ass.
Got a cat that is coming in our back yard and shitting in it. Our dog loves cat shit and is immediately on the hunt for it as soon as I let him out. If he finds it before I do he does this thing where he inhales it and gulps it down like a pelican. Then he just runs crazy giant circles around the yard like he just got some video game power up.
Taking Luna to the dog park, there is the area for small and big dogs that is separated by a 2 1/2 tall wood fence. Luna riles up all the big dogs and will jump over into the small dog area and like 3 or 4 will follow. Then she will jump right back over. Sometimes she has found little holes in the fence that bigger dogs can fit through and will just run around the fence of the dog park, she won't run away, I think she just thinks its fun that she can do that and no other dogs can. Luckily she hasn't ran out into the road or anything.
I love the idea that she does this on purpose thinking you arent paying attention just to get the other dogs in trouble and make herself look good. "See Dad...I'm a good girl. Treats now!"
So I'm gonna have to work on Nymerias socialization skills. Twice she has snapped at dogs that sniffed around her face. I've never had a dog that had issues like this so this is going to be all new to me.
My dogs being full ass holes today. Woke up this morning trying to give the lab her medicine and she freaked out and scratched my face just missing my eye. Both decided to dig a huge hole under one fence today and when I went to yell at them the husky ran at me full speed and then tried to turn but lost Balance and full force full speed ran into my shin, got a giant bruise and swelling there now.
Haus went home from the vet on Thursday and will receive a heroism award on Friday along with a bag of treats. http://www.fox13news.com/news/local-news/142963613-story
I have two dogs, one is perfectly well behaved at home. Listens to everything I say and is generally calm/lazy. The other is full energy all the time. Is hard headed as hell, and will basically do whatever she wants. Soon as I get them outside on a leash they totally switch rolls. I don't get it at all.
Drives me insane when people freak out about dogs being dogs. My sister has a pomeranian, she brought it over once and my dogs where doing the whole sniffing, pawing, trying to play thing. They're about 40 pounds each, so a fair amount bigger but they weren't being overly ruff. Her dog was not loving it at first because my sister was freaking out the entire time and just eventually picked it up. Tried to explain to her that was why her dog was freaking out, that she doesn't let it be a "dog" and get used to it.
Yea I talked to the greyhound people and they said it's just gonna take work and controlled meetings to get her used to being around dogs other than greyhounds. She just has to get used to them. It was a little more than a snap both times but it's not like she attacked them. Just a "get the fuck away from my face" reaction.
