Never knew anything about it, then randomly thought I'd give it a try based on this thread. Had never played any "MOBA" or "ARTS" game like it. Most fun game I've ever played, simply because it is so insanely complex if you want it to be. Most insanely frustrating game I've ever played, because it takes a long time to "git gud" or atleast feel comfortable with your skill level. So much potential strategy, unlimited skill ceiling. And, unlike most other "multiplayer" games which are really nothing more than playing against shit talking bots, DotA is truly a TEAM game. When you get a real team full of decent teammates it gives me the same competitive feeling of playing sports.
Also got my Clinkz set from the quest line. That's by far the easiest path to complete IMO. 3 starred every single one on the fastest path to the end. Got all 3 sets, when does the LC path unlock?
dota 2 is like driving a race car except you have 5 people who operate one part of the car each and everyone wants to be the driver and nobody will play brakes and then the car crashes and you have to sit in the burning car for 45 minutes while the enemy race car does donuts around you while cursing at you in spanish.
I definitely did. Buddy of mine had started playing it and convinced me to download it and give it a try. He'd tried to get me to play some MMORPG games in the past, and that's what I thought this was going to be. So I was a bit skeptical of whether or not I'd enjoy it as I'd only ever played FPS and sports games primarily. Once I started watching pro games, I started to actually understand what was going on and how the game should be played. Usually with games I play a lot I get tired of them after a while, but this one is different. It's pretty much killed console gaming for me. I can't even remember the last time I turned on my Xbox.
Peter said last night on panel that Radiant doesn't really have any advantages anymore with the map changes.
It's remarkable that pretty much any action, even if it's the wrong action, can lead to victories in doto if you execute it as a team. You have to fight the mentality of "doing the right thing" and supporting, in most situations, the wrong move as a team. This is even more evident if you consider how frustrated you get with the russian and peruvians you'll inevitably be teamed with. How ridiculous is it that you get frustrated over them not listening to you and not doing what you want to do, when they're doing the same exact fucking thing on their end and getting pissed that you're not doing their thing. Support the decisions of your shit-can teamates in pubs, reap the mmr rewards.
This is why I love to play initiators. Idiot teammate out of position? AXE BLINK CALL BLADEMAIL SURPRISE, BITCH! Also why I love to play roamers like Riki, slark, clinkz, and lesser extent weaver. Catch people out solo without having to rely on teammate choices
Also, probably get a big change in meta soon before TI, right? Or is this patch going to last until TI?
They've actually been pretty consistent with updates the last couple years if I remember reading it. Think for the last couple it's pretty much been April/September/December for updates, so we probably won't see one until after TI.
PA's dagger is completely broken IMO. I played terribly (0-2 in lane) and still raped with her. Completely carried an awful team to a stomp.
First drow game. Man, playing mid and getting 40 agility from your passive that quickly is just nasty. Quick dragon lance and you're just an early game monster.
PA is a great pub stomper in bad MMR because no one buys MKB if it's not in their normal recommended shop items.
And people don't buy silver edge first item once PA gets picked. She's basically a lane creep once she gets hit with one.
I just finished watching the grand finals. Managed to remain spoiler free. What a treat that series was.
OG and liquid both play crazy well with Phoenix and make me want to learn him. Liquid ran a dusa/phoenix combo against Newbee and it was terrifying.
It's funny to see how pro tournaments affect pick rates. Disruptor, phoenix, slardar, and Timber all took big jumps after people saw teams dominate with them during the major.
Unless the team is ravaged/stunned, the egg is almost always placed either next to Chrono or Chrono on top... or it's put near back line/choke point and used as a pseudo tower. Versus in pubs where people place it front line = rekt.
Also just played a 72 minute comeback winner against a super fed slark and a divine Ember (+ a good invoker)... AND they had megas... and the only players on our team worth a shit were the WK and me as Mirana Aghs (silencer was nice support tho).
Holy shit! http://welcomehome.gg/ Well, what a couple of months it's been. On March 22nd (a date so fitting that even we had a hard time believing it), we lost a very good friend - one of our team's longest-tenured and favorite players, and just a genuinely good person. It was a very tough day for our entire organization in recent memory, but while we didn't agree with his decision, we respected it and wished him well. By now, it's no Secret that plans didn't go quite as they were expected to. Sometimes, though, these things happen for a reason, and regardless of the path that took us here, we're very happy to announce Saahil “Universe” Arora's return to Evil Geniuses' Dota 2 division. Along with him comes another long-time friend of the team and organization: Ludwig “zai” Wålberg, who will be playing in the 4 position, with Clinton “Fear” Loomis taking the 1 position. While we're very excited to welcome these two players back to the team, in doing so we also had to make the difficult decision to part ways with two other individuals we have great respect and appreciation for: Sam “BuLba” Sosale and Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling - both of whom played invaluable roles in our TI5 championship run, as coach and player, respectively. As has already been announced, BuLba will be joining Team Secret, but unfortunately as a result of these changes Aui's path is less straightforward. This was without a doubt the hardest part of the decision to move forward with these changes. Kurtis is a great player and a great person, and he deserves better than to be removed from the same organization twice within a year. That's not how we like to do things around here, and it's not something we're at all proud of or take lightly. After discussing the situation with him extensively, we've come to a good resolution that will compensate him appropriately for the lost time and opportunities that this situation takes from him. It's about as happy an ending as you could hope for in a bad situation. We're parting ways on good terms, and we wish him the best. Now, as far as TI6 goes, we're making these changes with the full understanding that in doing so, we will forfeit our direct invite to the tournament. In just a few days, zai will be joining us in the United States, and we will begin preparing to conquer the TI6 qualifiers and defend our title. This will undoubtedly be a difficult process, but we're excited for the challenge and we hope that you'll be there with us as we restart our journey back to the top - this time, on the long road, but with the right players and people in place.
what in the hell RonBurgundy there is a new balance patch. 6.88 announced less than 2 months after .87?
Heartstopper aura range now decreased from 1200 to 900 with the same damage at level 1 and only .1 damage more at level 2. Looks like he's gonna be way less of a bitch to deal with in lane which is nice. Phantom strike now goes through BKB so everyone say hello to PA in the pro scene. Black hole damage is now pure Lifestealer base attack time reduced to 1.85 which I think might actually hurt him a lot Treant gets 6 more base attack damage, so now he's going to hit like even more of a truck in early game Dismember cooldown now 20 seconds at level three fuckthisgayearth.jpg Ogre magi multicast interval increase from .4 to .5. Dat chainstun
first internationa calibration 3.8 average mid zeus gets raped by a pudge we lost next game 3.4k average team forces me to solo support even though i begged for a core position enemy LS runs me down first every fight and doesnt get punished because we have no other supports or control we lose
Fear back at the 1? Zai on the team? U-God? They better run thru open quals cause that'll be an exciting TI.
Would love to know how that conversation between Universe and PPD went. Uni: ...Soooo PPD: Yeah Uni: Cool
This really is an exciting roster, hope they mesh well fast and wreck shit. Shane they weren't invited to more tournaments, only Nanyang to look forward to before TI. Wonder if the open quals will be streamed or if we'll have to watch in client.
