"And the old lovers sing I thought it'd be me who helped him get home. But home was a dream, one I'd never seen 'til you came along."
heading to Athens for work this afternoon - event ends around 7 so I convinced my boss to let me stay the night and drive back to ATL in the morning. promptly bought a ticket for the show tonight
also - local Athens coffee roaster Jittery Joe's released a limited edition "Trucker Speed" roast with custom Wes Freed can $14.99 + shipping http://www.jitteryjoes.com/coffee/dbt-trucker-speed.html
Sooo I procrastinated in getting tickets to tonight's show only to discover a few weeks ago that it's sold out, then thought a friend might have a connection that could get a ticket or two, but that also fell through. So for you still-connected-to Athens folks (maybe dawgonit ?): 1. Do you know anyone that may have an extra ticket or two to tonight's or Saturday's show they'd be willing to sell? 2. Any ideas on other methods for acquiring tickets? I know 40 Watt is notorious for hating the secondary ticket market and scalping (which is completely reasonable), so I'd rather not be the jabroni that stands outside the venue hoping to come across someone selling.
I got nothing for you man sorry. My brother is still in school and I hung out with his crew last night. They were all talking about how tickets were impossible to find for the weekend shows. craigslist is probably your best bet.

they started slow but picked it up and finished strong per usual. was nice to see them at the 40 watt again - it's my happy place. on the other hand, work is terrible today. thanks giant PBR cans.
What It Means is the song Patterson wrote about Michael Brown/Ferguson. Casiano is new, and it's really good.
Saw this show in Austin last night, it was badass. The dueling guitar solo in Never Gonna Change gave me a raging guitar boner
After starting slow Thursday, they came out guns blazing last night in what was one of the best DBT shows I've ever been to. Sound was perfect, crowd was loud and engaged. Just a perfect show all around. I'm not, wish I was. Jumped on Thursday and Friday tickets, but Saturday was sold out. Left town this morning. Definitely aiming for all three next year, Athens was a blast.
Southern Shelter has Thursday night's show up already, leading off with Casiano. http://southernshelter.com/2016/02/drive-by-truckers-40-watt-club-2016-02-11/
I dig it. Side bar: What the fuck was up with all the talking during Cooley's other new song (Track 24)?
Crowd got kind of weird late. Was about half-full for most of the encore with it being so late on a Thursday night/Friday morning, half of that crowd was up close, then a big group toward the back where the recording stuff was I assume.
After seeing both many times, I've determined that isbell is better live, but DBT is a more fun live show (both are great in both aspects though)
I'm going to bed. Congrats to Jason! Finally wins not one but two Grammys: Best American Roots song for "24 Frames" and Best Americana Album.
The latest Dave Cobb-produced album came out last week. Story behind it: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/wheeler-walker-jr-inside-countrys-filthiest-album-20160210 Lead "singles":
Chris Stapleton's wife doing "You are my Sunshine" is pretty incredible. http://www.npr.org/player/v2/mediaPlayer.html?action=1&t=1&islist=false&id=466186106&m=466200256
isbell the other night was amazing (shovels and rope a+ too) he's getting bigtime. the production was way more intense than I've seen at an isbell show. excellent stage setup, awesome light show, etc pretty amazing how far he's come
American Aquarium put out an alternate version of their song "Wolves." Pretty good. http://americansongwriter.com/2016/02/song-premiere-american-aquarium-wolves/
DBT w/ Futurebirds opening and playing in Tallahassee May 1st. I dont know what happened to the music scene here but I love it. Dawes, Isbell and DBT all within 3 weeks time. Norm Peterson
Playing in Charlotte on Friday night. Going to try my best to make it. Having to try and find a ticket on craigslist.
I would imagine that new amphitheater has something to do with it. I can't make the DBT show though, it's on my dad's birthday.
