I think the last thread died in the crash, shall resurrect. So I'm starting to assemble my components for my first PC build, any recommendations, do's, dont's, best practices, etc? I've done most of my research on Logical Increments, someone recommended that last time and it is an awesome site.
might be too advanced for me, I'm thinking of sticking with Windows 3.11. Once I snag the latest copy of Netscape Navigator off the BBS, I'll be good to go.
I built a gaming computer a number of years ago. It turned out being much simpler than I expected. Just plug and play if you do your research and make sure all the components are compatible. Got everything from newegg. Case Motherboard Psu Cpu Graphics card Memory HDD Optical drive Plus operating system and all software
Not the OP, but I was looking into it a while back as well. What could $1,000 get you, excluding monitors? Case would need to be quiet, since it would sit in my bedroom.
What are your thoughts on this? http://www.pcgamer.com/pc-build-guide-budget-gaming-pc/ http://www.pcgamer.com/best-gaming-pc/ http://www.pcgamer.com/pc-build-guide-high-end-gaming-pc/
I'm probably in the $700 range, I don't want to go crazy. I have to buy a piece or two at a time as it is, already have memory (8GB, might bump it to 16GB) and HDD (1TB 7200 RPM)
Those are all going to be workable systems, they will do exactly what they say they will. This site will give you a component level look at it as well, to give extra insight. www.logicalincrements.com
Finally doing this thing. Just waiting on a few more pieces to come in tomorrow and hopefully i can build on Saturday night or sunday. Decided to do a mostly budget gaming build. i3 4170 processor MSI Z97 Game Mate mobo 1TB HDD 8GB DDR3 EVGA 500W power supply DVD Burner because why not had to buy a new monitor because I've been on a laptop forever, so that ate into my budget a bit Going to wait about a month to get an MSI GTX 960 GPU for money reasons, will take me that long to work out all the kinks and have time for games anyway.
didn't want to go too crazy, and i usually pick an AMD chip but I read that the intel chips did better when paired with a graphics card, whereas the AMD chips were better if you were sticking with the IGP. I basically went to Logical Increments, looked at the price point i wanted to stick with as close as possible, and went from there.
Ok. I was an AMD fan for a long time but switched over to Intel. Another website to check pricing is http://pricewatch.com
