Dont know if there has been much talk lately of where Clarkson, May, and Hammond will land, but it sounds like Netflix. The show may already have a new name, House of Cars. http://www.engadget.com/2015/05/13/netflix-top-gear-house-of-cars/
If they only do one thing they need to get the McClaren, Porche, and Ferarri cars tested versus one another.
Hoping the manufacturers quit being babies and let them do it on the new show but if they don't... Forza Horizon 2 just announced a new Porsche expansion pack (Porsche has been exclusive to EA for years but Xbox just made a deal with them to get Porsche into Forza games) and the 918 is in it. The LaFerrari and P1 are already in the game. I'll be racing those 3 against each other this week in digital form at least. Watch the game encounter some kind of error if you try to put them against each other due to licensing limitations from the manufacturers.
I hope they change things up a bit so it is not just a continuation of what they were doing on Top Gear. One thought is that they could almost have two separate shows going each year. One just car reviews and car challenges (where all three presenters are in like cars). Run this around when the new models come out each year. The rest of the time they could do straight up travel/car show like they did previously. I liked last year that they did the Pick Up trucks in Canada, and hope they do more reviews of different types of cars.
BBC is broadcasting two episodes that were filmed for this season with just James and Hammond presenting but Jeremy on the episode. Kinda don't want to watch out of spite.

Signed by Amazon for a new show, all 3 of them http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/30/media/amazon-top-gear-clarkson/index.html edit: and their producer, even better.
Not sure how I missed this when it was originally posted but with Forza 6 coming out today people were talking about Top Gear again and them landing on Amazon Prime came up. Found this article... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/cel...itain-on-post-Top-Gear-Amazon-Prime-show.html The most important bits in there... - Top Gear's budget per episode was around £500k, reaching £1m when the presenters' salaries were factored in - this Amazon show will have a budget of £4.5m per episode - Clarkson is basically making the same he made per episode with BBC so the inflated budget probably indicates some generous bumps for Hammond and May but logic would tell you there still seems to be an extra £2m+ per episode Can't wait to see what they're doing with the extra money. Maybe every episode will basically be like their specials.
I'd love to see the #s on how much money went where. Like how much to rent the cars, how much insurance was paid for the cars and presenters...etc.
i doubt they rent cars unless they absolutely have to. They just borrow them from the car companies. They have borrowed exotic cars from celebs even. The Ferrari Enzo to name one.
Yes, I want to say that when they were trying to do the Porche, Ferrari, Maclaren hybrid test one of the manufacture refs told owners that if they lent their car to Top Gear w/o their consent they would never get a car from them again.
Craziest car stat I ever heard on the show was Jeremy in the Bugatti Veyron Mouse. Paraphrasing: "The Mclaren F1 can get up to 100 mph and the Bugatti can start from 0 mph and beat the Mclaren to 200 mph."
Their ending montages- my god... Especially with Italian cars. The F12 Berlinetta is my favorite review ever. I want to drive one so bad.
The Albania mafioso episode might be my favorite. I'm watching the try to fit the dead body in the boot right now.
New Top Gear starts on BBC starts this Monday. I'll give it a shot because it's still a show about awesome cars. I also want to give the American version another shot because I am in withdrawal and I think two of the presenters are good. Only the Tony Danza looking idiot bothers me. Tanner and Rutledge aren't bad, despite having regrettable names.
Yea that guy is awful. He knows nothing about cars and is not funny at all. Tanner is of course a ridiculous driver but he a doesn't really have the personality to carry a show. I'm very curious how Matt LeBlanc works out as a host.
I couldn't find a different thread for just The Grand Tour so I believe this should go here... November 18th. McLaren, Ferrari and Porsche shootout shown briefly in the clip. Also, it seems they will be releasing weekly and not all at once like other Amazon/Netflix shows. Maybe they'll still be doing current, in-studio segments to go with the stuff they've recorded over the last several months.
It wasn't bad, just more boring. The serious car tests are just as good, but some of the drama to it seemed forced. And the cheeky/funny stuff just didnt work for me. They might to better by turning it more into a serious car show similar to what NBC Sports has (the presenter from /Drive was on some episodes) and let the other stuff build over time as they get more camaraderie. They tried to jump right into what Clarkson, May, and Hammond had.

First Episode now up. I'm watching it via amazon.com at work. DGAF Visually it looks really, really good, with the whole 4k thing. From what I've seen so far it looks like they put a lot of $$$ into this, and there's a lot of action and explosions and such.
I'm jelly. But will watch on my lunch break. They should have had an extra £2m+ per episode based on the announced budget stuff from earlier this year. Hopefully people can find it and watch it so they can keep doing it.
A lot of that is going into the logistics of shooting in 4k, and having a traveling studio. I am going to wait and watch when I get home to watch in 4k
