Still playing FM 2011. I'm in the year 2023 and got Bristol Rovers back to back league titles. Still can't manage to win the CL though. Ganso has become a club legend for me.
post-crash bump: Coaching Leicester in 2028-29 currently... currently in February... still undefeated. 14 wins, 15 draws.... 2nd in the table because of all the draws. I lost in the League Cup and FA Cup in the first game of each tourney... barely made it out of CL group.
ok got a question about affiliate clubs. In the criteria where you're getting a club to get foreign kids into the youth intake, does the quality of club that you choose as the affiliate matter? Or is all the matters the country they're in? Boro has Atletico B/C as an affiliate, and they get spanish kids through, but since they're Atletico I wasn't sure. Mix DelapThrows Corky Bucek
Just purchased FM15 have never played before at all. Can't wait to be lost and have no idea what I'm doing.
Just got promoted with Wimbledon in year 3. Having a really hard time buying League 1 quality players in the summer transfer window.
how do i get the # of u21 and u18 coaches up? is it increasing youth level? i can't remember/figure it out for the life of me
This game is extremely difficult for me. I've got Swansea sitting in 14th after 7 matches at 1-3-3. I beat West From 4-1 and drew QPR and then Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Bafe Gomis is leading the pl in goals with 8 and tied for the assist lead at 5. Going to have to strengthen my defense to stay up at this pace.
Also drew arsenal away. Just need to keep the goals going in and hope the defense can get us some clean sheets.
About to start the season, board expectation: Try to avoid relegation. Don't even have to stay up, lol
Best to start with a lower level team. It really helps to play with low expectations while you install your system. Make sure you customize your training and manage your preseason. Learn the inner workings of the regen system so you can begin recruiting early. Always sign an affiliate in Belgium. The two year naturalization is the fastest amongst EU nations and doesn't require learning the language. Don't lean on your players too much with sideline shouts. Get a feel for the effects and be patient with your squad. Set pieces are very important. Take the time to practice them and find what works. I spend at least an hour in the set piece generator every season tweaking my set pieces. Don't concern yourself with youth intake until you're at least a third division team. Remember, the star rating system is relative to the quality of your scouts and the level of the league you're participating in. A 5 star teenager in the nPower championship is lucky to crack a reserve squad in the premier league. This is one of my favorite games. It is wonderful but requires a lot of time and patience. Good luck.
Gave in and re-downloaded. Decided to play as Southport in the Conference National. Absolutely dominated the league, won FA Trophy and have reached FA Cup final. Have a player has scored 87 goals this season to go along with 28 assists. But my attendance sucks so hard, getting about 1k people a game despite being this good. Really annoying.
I love running a fast attacking system out of the 4-4-2 diamond. I make the pitch the biggest possible and just beat the other team to the ball. Got beat 2-1 by Man U in extra time. Get to play Euro though because they are in champs league.
I think I'm going to be fucked with EURO because I need to have so many homegrown guys and I have an awful youth setup now and few and terrible HG guys.
stayed up in the championship. not sure if I want to keep building them up, or jump at a premier league/top flight job if i get a chance
Fired up my Rangers save the other day. I'm at the end of October and have only lost once in all competitions. Sitting in second in the league because of draws, but the SPL now has 2 CL spots. Dominating my Euro group and should win it. Really need to get more youth players in my system as I haven't really been able to produce anybody worth a shit.
Speaking of tactics, what does everyone use? I run a wide 4-2-3-1. Mentality is Counter and Fluidity is Fluid. I also have a diamond 4-4-2, but I don't have a strong enough DM to run it.
4-2-3-1 attack high tempo Alternate is a 4-4-1-1 when I'm away in big matches. On the rare occasion runs 4-4-2.
with individual training for youth players, is there a downside to doing a position focus the entire time, and not on a specific trait
4-3-3, really wide wingers... lots of attack pressure and crossing to the center striker. Ran a 3-5-2 at my last two stops and had some good results with that, too.
My GM just made me aware that we need 24 more points to guarantee a first place finish. We have 8 matches left. Thanks for the analysis.
Had my left wing guy who is really good constantly getting hurt. Thankfully both Arsenal and Liverpool put in massive bids. Spurs offered like 2.5 then these two came in with 15 mill plus incentives. Sold to Liverpool for a little more if he plays there regularly. Now if I can just get the option to upgrade my training facilities. They are not good and the ability to even request them be improved is never there. Only youth facilities.
Won the German Third Division with SpVgg Unterhaching. Did so despite losing someone in the 18 every week for the last two months. This club is in horrible financial shape and I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I have 8ish contracts to renew, but everyone's salary demands are too high and the board has given me some kind of restricted transfer policy. The GM is also forcing a transfer of my best player. Gonna be a really rough next season unless I'm able to schedule some money-making friendlies.
According to Football Manager it's the 17th best season someone using Unterhaching has had in the German Third. I'll take it
Just finished the 18-19 season and won the Scottish Double Also my third Scottish Cup in a row. Made some good signings on the wings with a Croatian and a Dane from Liverpool on loan who progressed a ton and his value shot up big time. Unfortunately I won't be able to afford him, but I will be able to get him on loan again. Also signed a 19 year old Dutch striker who scored 36 goals in all competitions (which is nothing like Mix's guy).
I am now. Honestly (because I'm an idiot and didn't look at any rosters), it hadn't occurs to me that their rosters would be so much better than mine. They're all 4.5-5 star CA and I'm all 3.5-4 CA.
Got fucked by a release clause on my best player as I move into League 1. Also have played Liverpool in like 3 cup matches in the last year and lost them all I think. Something about that team just kills my gameplan.
Finished in 15th my 2nd year in the Championship. Sold my top striker over the summer, as he was entering his final year of contract and wanted ~300% raise, which was right around the max money i could offer. Sold him for more than his value price with incentives, so I'm happy with it. Got a lot of good youth coming through the system, looking forward to mixing them into the first team
Since 2012 (when I started playing and 3 different versions) the game seems like it has a bug on cup match ups. You get a lot of either the same team in previous matches or the team you play before the scheduled cup match if they are obviously in the same league.
Apparently my coaches are fucking idiots. I'm 0-3 on them completing the pro license. Edit: 0-2 on that. 0-1 on a motherfucking B license.
5 games into the season and have a 21 GD, 22 GF and 1 GA. Destroyed Hearts in the last game who was 2nd, 8-0 I'm missing my top striker and next best player in a LW. This probably means I will get destroyed in the Group Stage of the CL.
Fuck me I've got so many injuries. Seems like all of my wings got hurt then the loan replacements got hurt. All long 2-3 month injuries, have 4 guys in this range. Last years leading scorer gets hurt on international duty in the summer and first game back gets hurt again. Lost to OL and Bayern Munich with 85+ min goals in the CL. Fucking injuries man.
