I swear there is a code in the game that makes a bad (2 month +) injury occur in training the day after the Summer window closes. It has happened to me for 4 straight seasons.
All the feels for you two. My brand of injury bullshit is a player going down as soon as I make my third substitution. All the rage.
Managed to finish 12th, despite losing 8 of my last 11 matches. Need a CAM to step up and maybe go out and buy an LB, and I should be able to challenge for promotion next season. Also got the board to approve training facility and youth facility upgrades last August, and those will finish in October. Finally, I have two 17 year olds with 5* PA and 3.5* CA, so that's pretty awesome. Edit: And Juan Mata is the best player in the game and wins award after award. It makes me so sad.
Just funny stuff: - 37 year old Jordan Henderson is still starting for Liverpool - 35 year old Phillipe Coutinho is still starting (at Center Striker) for Liverpool - Theo Walcott just left a managing gig with Wigan in the Championship to take over Newcastle (fighting to stay up) in the PL.
Drew Celtic in the League Cup Semis and the Scottish FA Cup 5th round. I will play them 4 times in 11 matches and 3 out of 5. Also advanced out of my CL group in second behind Bayern and in front of OL and Fenerhbache or however you spell it. Drew Benfica in the knockout round which was probably the best team I could have drawn.
Missed the playoff by 1 point last season. Had a chance going into final day, but Swansea won to clinch the 6th spot. Made record money for the year, and the club cancels the youth facility upgrade that was 5 months from completion...
Finishing up another season. Won League 1. Moving into Championship. My owner is making shitloads of money, I think we have like $50 mill now and I ask to expand the stadium and get the "We agree but don't have the money." Such bullshit.
During my 9th season at Leicester (including saving them from a double-drop on the last day of the season, getting promoted the next season, winning the FA cup in my 4th, winning the PL in my 7th, and just winning the CL in my 8th) my owner told me we don't have the funds to improve youth facilities or training facilities. They made a profit of 100m+ each of the last 3 years. My transfer budget was only 25m this year. They are jerks. (however, they are building a new ground... so if they name it after me all will be forgiven)
Yeah facility improvements are so much harder to get now. I can't even get the option to improve main training facilities, just youth. When I used to run the world with Rosenborg I think the team was worth about 1.4 bill and they still wouldn't invest shit.
Did you ask to build a new ground? In my Wimbledon save they automatically built a new stadium when I kept on getting promoted.
I've gone nuts on bringing over talented Brazilians and sticking them on my Belgian affiliate to fast-track their work permits.
Haha that's pretty funny. Wimbledon had to upgrade my stadium because it was so small and had to meet the rules and then built a new one. Pretty much on point irl as they are going to build a new stadium for the team.
I have started to make the club real good money finally. Getting into the 20-30 mil profit range each year. I have a 16k all seater, haven't upgraded at all, average in the 12-13k a game range. trying to wait until my average gets to the 15s to expand. I got the board to agree to letting me develop youth through the system, but they continuously reject upgrading the youth level, as they don't see a need for it. Makes no sense to me
I haven't had trouble getting them to agree to facilities, but even getting promoted I don't average 50% attendance, so no expansion new ground anytime soon. Also damn at these profits you guys are pulling in. I lost money my first season and did maybe a little better than even my second.
To be fair, I didn't start making any money at all until last season, my 2nd in the Chamionship, and 5th in the whole save.
I've made good money selling players but also won a lot of games so prize moneys and such. England generates a lot of cash.
Yup. I just took on the challenge of coaching a national team at the same time. I picked up the Croatia job (solely for the checkerboard kits)
Three days after completing training and youth facility upgrades, my board approved another round of training and youth facility upgrades. So glad my club believes in developing its own players.
I've had luck with facility upgrades as well die to developing youth, but still can't get the board to up the youth level
Just finished the 3rd season in my save with West Ham. Banner season for us in their first year in the Olympic Stadium. Hammers finished 3rd on the table with 76 points behind Man U and Chelsea, we also won the Capital One Cup. Club was bought by a tycoon from Chinese Taipei towards the end of the previous season, which brought a bunch of money into the club for players and upgrades. Made some good signings, Gerard Deulofeu as another castoff from Barca for about 7.5 million GBP (I had picked up Sergi Roberto the previous season at a ridiculously discounted rate from Barca), Francesco Bardi from Inter as a new keeper for 5 mil GBP and the best signing of the lot, Carlos from Atletico Miniero for 19.5 million GBP, who was a massive revelation and scored 29 goals in my system. If you can afford, Carlos is a GOAT player for anyone uses the Advanced Forward role in the Striker position.
Sold a young CM to Manchester United who I got on a free from Liverpool for $37 mil plus some other incentives. Not a bad little profit there.
Just had the WC 18 draw. Easily qualified and got a group with Cameroon, Italy, and Jamaica. Feel good about moving on, just need to beat Cameroon. USA lost in playoff and didn't qualify. England got put with Qatar, Brazil, and Portugal. Spain got the easiest group I can imagine with Israel, Egypt, and Saudis. Just weird teams made it and odd groups.
Got Swansea sitting 12th 3 points away from 9th with 7 matches to go. In the FA Cup semifinals as well against Burnley. Board agreed to both Youth and Training facility upgrades.
went into the final day in the 6th spot. lost 0-2 to Reading who clinched the auto promotion spot. Would have made playoff if not for an 89th minute winner from the 8th place team to jump ahead of me.
Spent all season in 2nd, only to take 2 points from 5 of the last 6 matches. Dropped down to 3rd because of GD for the last week and my match was against the 2nd place team. Somehow beat them 3-0 to guarantee promotion to the bundesliga. I'm so pissed though. Watching this team piss away the last month when we started it 3 points out of first just makes me rage. Three of my last fucking matches were against the three worst teams in the league and I got two points from them. So much stress.
Just faced Barcelona in the Champions' League quarterfinal. Lost the first leg at Camp Nou 3-0 (Messi was insane as always, and I actually had more shots on target that game somehow too). Came back for the second leg at the Olympic Stadium to go up 3-0 sometime a little after the 60th minute only to have a corner kick, which Barcelona took on the counter for a Suarez goal in the 90th minute...
What is everyone's squad personality? Mine is Professional, which I like, but it's so hard to find players with that personality.
Not going to lie, I would have CTRL + ALT + DEL that game, though I'm sure that's the cardinal sin of FM.
Made my way up to the Premiership with Southport. Playing at Everton all season while they add a measly 5k seats to the stadium. Predicted to finish 7th this year.
Crushing Premiership so far. Played 7, won 7. Scored 25 goals so far, 7 more than next team. +16 in GD. Man U in 2nd and I beat them 3-0.
Just bought a PS4 and FIFA today. I know the new one comes out in 2 months or so, but is it worth starting a manager career at this point?
Got promoted to the Premiership with Wimbledon after two years in the Championship. Think it took me a total of 6 seasons after starting in League 2. The 25 player roster screwed me; I bought a bunch of good players instead of a couple of elite players, thinking I'll need the depth for the long season. Promptly lost 6-1 at Chelsea in my first match. I'm going to have a hard time staying up.
I benefited from grabbing some really talented players on loan. You're allowed 8 in the Championship, and I was starting 6-8 loaned players each game.
It probably does, but if you don't have any young players worth a shit to play then it's better to take guys on loan. Then send out your young players on loan to lower levels for PT. Plus it allows you to add players for free or cheap to your squad.
Wimbledon had refused to adequately invest in youth development. Finally building new youth training grounds, but I've always had bottom of the barrel. I've never had a youth player develop near senior team. That'll catch up with me eventually I'm sure.
I've grabbed some loan guys, I just get next to no support from the board, and they want me to develop my youth. I've missed the playoffs by 1, and 2 points in 2 separate seasons
