Coquelin has saved our ass as many times as Cech has. This could seriously be 6-1 and 80% of it is Chambers and he's made the rest of the team nervous. Send him on loan if this is what he's gonna do when he gets a chance. Ozil would be better at CB than he's been.
Not scoring tonight, hate how easy it is for teams to come to the Emirates and nullify us. Have to have a better/earlier plan B
F-, just about as bad as West Ham. Not a coincidence either, so easy to pack numbers in front of goal and nullify us.
Race for fourth is on, dropping five points at home against clubs you took 6/6 from last season is fucking pathetic. Once again, the line-up that includes Giroud fails to score at home. Fuck that guy.
A 1-0 loss wouldn't have been a "fair" result, but Arsenal still should have won (disallowed Ramsey goal).
The 1 time Giroud actually got a shot off was when it should have been a penalty and red. The no speed lineup has to be done, Giroud is better as a sub anyways. Good 2nd half, players need to finish their chances.
So why do you keep playing Ox as a sub? Seems like he really gives you something in the attack everytime he comes on.
Gabriel looked strong too, liked him. When we have bad or average days from Santi, Mesut, and Alexis it's going to be hard to win against a packed box because Giroud sucks so much.
We needed good management to be a true title contender, we're getting the worst management in the league right now. Used to marvel at how some of Fergie's teams could be so tight in defense and have so much space in attack, we're the complete opposite.
if anything he really is an inch or two beyond skrel, seen way way worse wrongly called offsides, this is a more forgiveable miss than the lack of a holding call on benteke halfway through the second half for a pk
He's not beyond Skrtel that's ridiculous. Giroud also had a penalty shout. Jorts, as good as they were the 1st half, we were just as good the 2nd half. The Ramsey call was huge.
Very reminiscent of the Spurs home game from last year that ended 1-1. Believe that was the game that ended the 4-1-4-1 abomination, hopefully this does the same with the no speed lineup.
who gets dropped for Ox? obvious answer is Ramsey but he was our best player today and our best finisher most of the time.
I'm guessing the only change is gonna be Theo for Giroud next game, possibly Debuchy for Bellerin and whichever CBs are back. Love Ox but he does give the ball away in bad spots a lot and his end product is pretty inconsistent, I wouldn't bench Ramsey for him if Theo is playing and we need Santi's control of the game despite a shitty performance from him today. Wenger giving the subs 30 minutes combined today was another incredibly frustrating part. Team should improve a bunch when Alexis gets going, he could seriously have 4-5 goals already this year.
Arsenal either need to buy a world class striker or put Wenger out to pasture. My heart can't handle anymore of this million shots on goal = no goal games. Since they will do neither I will just consume a lot of alcohol while watching their games.
OptaJoeVerified account @OptaJoe Arsenal have failed to score in five of their last six Premier League games at the Emirates. Blunt.
how many world class strikers are there and which are available? I'm all on board with thinking we need someone other than Giroud but I just can't figure out who is a viable option. there are like five-six world class strikers out there and Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea, City, Madrid aren't selling. maybe PSG sells one of theirs but I really can't see Zlatan coming here and calling Cavani world class seems generous at this point.
I think you summed it up. Offensively the next best thing would be to grab a Gotze or Reus but that's just conjecture in terms of availibility. Easiest thing to do would be shore up the back of the midfield but Wenger's been solving that with expired offensive CAMs and or guys with second division technical abilities.
I'm sure I overreacted after West Ham but think the whole blaming Coquelin for our attack is absurd. Matic doesn't do shit for Chelsea's attack nor does Fernandinho, they are doing just fine with goals.
I'm not sure I agree, Michael Cox goes into well here. http://www.espnfc.us/barclays-premi...s-coquelin-affects-arsenal-attacking-fluidity Basically, to me, he's not good enough at moving the ball quickly, whether it be to Santi or down the flanks. Takes too many touches and is not good with his longer range passing. Matic doesn't contribute to the attack but he doesn't kill it either. One huge problem we've had at the Emirates is transition and how quick we get the ball forward, build-up has been slow and labored when not on the counter.
They've also given up 7 goals in 3 league matches and probably should have been 8 if not for Morrison's dogshit penalty. Has a lot to do with old creaky knees behind them, but very un-Chelsea.
Matic hasnt been good this year. Not sure if its match fitness or what, but he has been slow and has failed to control like he did last year. Im sure he will come around but he has been part of the problem as well
I would be ecstatic with a DM, in Arteta mould, to partner Ramsey in the the middle. Feel it would solve a lot more issues than bringing in a striker
Talking purely from an attacking sense, Matic hasn't been good this year but also has to cover for Cesc who does nothing defensively. Hazard isn't playing that well either but their attack has balance. Cox also talked about the lack of runs in behind which to me is the biggest problem. Do you think defenders like to chase the likes of Theo and Ox around or play with everything in front of them? We all cried about getting a destroyer forever. Finally get 1 and he's been great at it and now we're going to blame him for not creating offense when we have 5 other guys to do that plus 2 fullbacks that join the attack all the time. We've had 103 shots in the 5 games without a goal too, Giroud is fucking shit right now. Playing him just because he can get off 2 or 3 great flicks a game is ridiculous, that's pretty much all he's doing right now. His passing besides that is awful and he's not fighting in the box.
I'm not blaming Coq for offense, but when teams pack it in on us, we're basically down to 10 men. Not Coq's job to take himself off.
Ox has shown flashes, but he also faded big time in the second half against West Ham. sure you're gonna look great when you come on fresh and run at tired legs. I think that is his best role on this team unless you want to play Alexis at striker. maybe give him more than 8 minutes though, that I can agree with.
Compared to the steaming pile of Girpoo, I do at this point. He scored lots of goals while Giroud was out injured last year and he played centrally a lot more.
I'm fine with More Theo and Ox, less Giroud and Ramsey or Santi, point is just that in this current setup Coquelin is really hurting our flow against teams that come an pack it tight, while letting us have possession.
