I am team DeChambeau.....the more good young Americans the better. If he was Euro trash I would hope he crashes and burns in a hurry.
USA Olympic golf uniforms are here. They are Adidas. They are awful. http://www.golfdigest.com/story/adi...l-to-be-worn-by-us-golfers-this-summer-in-rio
I think my biggest issue is that they aren't predominantly red, white, and blue. Two outfits are red and blue. Two outfits are blue and white.
So who is going to be playing in the olympics and how are they going to be selected. The reason I ask is if the pros are playing then how are their sponsors going to like having them decked out in adidas?
Top two in the world golf rankings from each country. A country can have up to 4 if they are ranked in the top 20, I believe.
Not looking forward to playing in decent weather tomorrow. Last time I played it was about 40 degrees and shot 6 under (I couldn't miss a putt outside of 20' so an obvious freak show). I know I'm going to be way off on distances since its going to be in the 60's tomorrow at tee time. I'm going to club down one and hope for the best.
Everything you said is correct except it is if they are ranked in the top 15. The overall field is limited to 60 players. The US would currently send Spieth, Fowler, Bubba and DJ.
Goddamn there is no reason we shouldn't win gold and really take at least 1 other medal. What happens if there are several tied like a normal tournament? Winner at -10 and then 3 players at -8 and 2 more at -7? Does everyone get a medal?
Damn...clicked on thread this morning and immediately remembered I hadn't set my lineup for the tourney this week. Thank god it's a west coast tourney so the rosters don't lock for a little bit yet. Don't forget to set you lineups kids.
Honestly not sure about that. Very interesting scenario. I'm with you in that we should win at least two medals and more than likely the gold.
A proposal was made to have a 72-hole individual stroke play tournament with the official rules of golf. In the event of a tie for any of the first three positions, a three-hole playoff will determine the medal winners.
Oh man, how fucking amazing would it be if there were a playoff for each of the medals. 2 guys tied for 1st 3 guys tied for 2nd 3 guys tied for 3rd 3, 3 hole playoffs going simultaneously
Impossible scenario given that the loser of the first playoff would get the silver and the winner of the second playoff would get the bronze.
Jason Day, Rory, Stenson, Rose, Sergio, Adam Scott, Kaymer, Oosthuizen... We will medal but gold isn't a lock by any means. I really hope our guys are making this a priority.
The Olympics golf is weird. Several of the players from different countries are fairly meh on it for whatever reasons. I understand that the majors are the most important thing to these guys but Adam Scott for instance said that he really doesn't even care about the Olympics. I think he even said that if he has a qualifying spot, he may not even play. If an American said that I'd be fucking pissed. IT'S THE GADDAM OLYMPICS!!
I'll be very interested to hear players' thoughts at the end of the year about the scheduling this year with it being an Olympics and a Ryder Cup year. It'll obviously be awesome as a fan but I'm very curious how squeezing in the Olympics between the PGA and the Ryder Cup will affect those players, not to mention the FedEx Cup playoffs being in that same time frame as well
I just looked up the current Olympic standings as they are now just to get an idea of who the top countries might be sending. There will obviously be changes and shifting due to rankings and injuries but this is if the cut off date was today. As JC said above the US would currently be Spieth, Rickie, Bubba, DJ. Although Furyk, Reed, ZJ, Kisner, and Koepka are all within shouting distance. We're the only country that currently qualifies 4 to be eligible which is a huge benefit. Australia would be tough with their top 2 currently being Day and Scott. Although like I said, Scott is lacking the motivation. Ireland = Rory, Shane Lowry....alternate = GMac Sweden = Stenson, Lingmerth South Africa = Brendan Grace, Oostie England = JRose, Danny Willett or Paul Casey Spain = Sergio, Miguel Angel Germany = Kaymer, Marcel Siem
I think those players will change their tune as the Olympics get closer and they walk out with their country in the opening ceremony
No idea. He likely won't qualify regardless. Rory is ranked #3 overall, Lowry is #15. GMac is currently all the way down at #64.
Me too. There is a very simple strategy for Torey Pines (wrt to Fantasy). Let's see if the noobs pick up on it.
I'm not a noob and I understand the strategy I just don't care enough to put that much effort/time into seeing who is playing which course. It's a big reason why I'm very bad at fantasy golf. Thankfully the vast majority of tourneys aren't set up like this otherwise I'd be even worse.
I bought these the other day, went to the range yesterday and they felt good. Real test will be this weekend.
