if anyone is interested in chambers bay discussion a guy on golfclubatlas.com who has played it a bunch has been running through it hole by hole and he's up to #10 http://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,60368.0.html
made an 11 on the par 4 first hole today. hit first drive OB, hit 2nd drive OB, hit 3rd drive in the woods but found it, pitched out to the fairway, hit into green side bunker, out of the bunker to the fringe, chip, putt, putt. played the final 17 holes at 3 over for an 82. went out with 47, came in with 35
Melanie Collins is tweeting and answering questions during Big Break tonight. Interesting tidbit that it only takes about two weeks to film the full season. That makes sense when you think of how many guys there are but I would've automatically assumed it'd be longer
Just met a guy who's grandson has been invited to be an ambassador at St. Andrews this year. Lucky asshole
Nike finally releases Rory's putter to the public. 1000 total going on sale tomorrow... http://m.nike.com/us/en_us/launch/c/2015-04/nike-method-006-putter
The thing is that headshape goes for a ton of money elsewhere - partially because it requires hand shaping, mostly because of Scotty Cameron. Scotty Cameron created an adaption of the original Ping Anser named the 009. It's tour only and requires hand shaping. Rory used one when he was with Titleist, Spieth uses one now, etc. When Rory moved to Nike, he wouldn't use a Nike putter until they re-created his old Cameron 009. This is their iteration of that head shape, and considering a Scotty 009 goes for $2k+, some would say this $450 is actually cheap. When it comes to cost of production vs price, you can claim this is way overpriced and I would agree. When it comes to cost vs competitors, it's actually not bad considering very few companies offer this head shape and those that do generally charge far more. As with all expensive things, value is personal perception.
It's time for a driver upgrade. Currently hitting the Callaway X hot. I love the look of the Titleist 913, but not exactly sure if that's what I need. Any opinions on this driver?
For sure, I get that part of it, just saying exactly what you alluded to in the second part. Spending $450 bucks on a putter seems a bit crazy. Having said that, I would be the exact same if I was in Rory's position.
Someone else suggested a Ping fitting, and I believe that would be the best direction if you want forgiveness.
It's not a bad price for that head shape, like IrishLAX2 said. IMO, Byron Morgan has the best priced Ping Anser adaptation (DH-89), and some claim the 009 inspiration came from Scotty working at Byron's shop.
I am getting really steep with my driver. So much, I am losing 25 yards with no run. I have tried everything. Has anyone experienced this and do you have advice?
My set up is my problem off the tee. If I can line up evenly with the tee markers, I'm good. If I have to line up left or right, I have a tendency to pull it
Shorten your backswing? That may help with problem 1 and in turn stop you from having to flip your wrists if you're falling back at Impact but that's a guess without seeing anything
There will be lots of laughing at my 40 yd hooks with my irons, but I play it perfectly. Spoiler except when I fuck up and hit it straight
A guy I've played with is a +2 handicap and plays a huge hook. He won the club championship with Maxfli Australian Blades. He is country as hell and now caddies at Sage Valley.
Got a text from my brother today telling me a guy I know who is on the police force with him won the millionaire maker event for the masters on draft kings. Local news confirms it. Fuck.
Had this problem for a few weeks too, just began forcing to keep extend myself down through my backswing, it was awkward at first but it fixed it and then just began backing it off more and more
It sounds like you're flipping or casting from the top because of the reverse pivot. To help with the reverse pivot, try to feel like you're driving your right heel into the ground and shifting your weight into your heel. Watch this video too. This guy has a bunch of videos on YouTube and does a great job of explaining things simply.
We are same. Except, I fixed mine a few weeks ago. Took about an hour with the instructor, but I highly recommend the guy I used....he had a solid 5 tips/drils that he had me cycle through until he found one that works best for me. I'm not embarrassed to play in front of ppl anymore.
Bailed on work yesterday afternoon to play for the first time. Really happy with an 83, hit the ball great but was shit on the greens, which were super slow.
Hadn't played in forever. Went to Top Golf in Atlanta this weekend and have now been bitten by the bug again. I'll play and suck for a year or two before swearing it off again.
