I have seen a few practice rounds where DJ and Phil are playing in a big money game, they weren't partners. Couple years ago at the Masters it was Phil/Rickie vs DJ/Dufner. Not that it means anything, just came to mind.
At least in the alternate shot format, a flawed theory is pairing the steady guy with a wild card. Like putting Bubba Watson with Webb Simpson in the foresomes last time. They play completely different games. Put a guy like Phil who hits the same shots as Bubba.
Also, never been to Minneapolis. Heard Brits pub was a pretty good hang out? Any other places downtown the wives would enjoy?
golf recs for Vegas anyone. thinking of playing Paiute. Wolfs already booked. Should I play Snow or Sun Mountain?
Played Paiute earlier this year and enjoyed it. My only Vegas golf experience. Some buddies that live there said it is the best course at that price point.
hey guys, did you know they swapped the nine's at the Tour Championship?? you'd think they'd mention that more often...
booked Sun Mountain cause it had an earlier tee time available should be fun. havent played since July. Its gonna rape me
Like the idea of moving the end of the season to before Labor Day. Once football starts, I usually forget that the golf season is still even going on and I'd imagine that's reflected in their ratings despite it being "the playoffs."
Phil can't hit a fairway, everyone hates Reed, we are going to pick Justin Thomas as the last captains pick over Bubba. It's all looking like a disaster.
Worse yet he'll pick Bubba and he will get beat like every other American golfer of that generation always has in the RC.
yeah I understand that but I would go with the #7 player in the world over these recent results: US Open: T32 QUicken: T12 WGC Brid: T33 The Open: T53 PGA Champ: T66 Travelers: T3 Wyndham: Cut Barclays: T10 Deutsche Bank: Cut BMW: T32
Pretty much need DJ and Spieth to get 4 points each (assuming they don't play together). Reed/Kuch (is he the only one who can deal with Reed) combine for 5?
JT is the obvious pick. DL3 is a Bammer cause of his son. Plus: The Speith/Thomas pairing story lines write themselves. If the Ryder Cup allows the players to blast bad rap music, get hammered and play barefoot, then Thomas/Fowler is a great strategic move.
He makes a lot of birdies which is good in ryder cup format. I'm okay with the pick. Still feel like it's going to be Bubba though.
So those results compare that much more favorably to Bubba's you think? Here's Bubba's in the exact same tourneys... US Open: T51 Quicken: DNP WGC Brid: T14 The Open: T39 PGA Champ: T60 Travelers: T25 Wyndham: DNP Barclays: T13 Deutsche Bank: Cut BMW: T20 Pretty much the same types of results. I'm not saying Bubba is the worst pick but why not change it up? Why not go with some new blood that doesn't have the battle scars of already losing in 3 previous RC's?
Bubba hasn't been great this year, I agree. I don't even really like him but I don't trust Thomas in a pressure situation. I think if you are the far lower rated player, you should be in great form to get selected. It's basically down to Berger/Bubba/JT and my guess is DL3 is going JT. At least fucking Furyk is not getting selected.
Going up to the RC on Wednesday to watch practice round....going to play at a local course Thursday....then going back to RC on Friday. 15 mins ago I got a call from a lady at the course we had our tee time booked for 2 months now. She said they got 10 inches of rain and they are flooded and their course won't be ready by next week. Luckily I called around and somehow got a tee time at a different course about 20 mins away in a different suburb. Earliest they had was noon so I grabbed it. So hopefully some course named "The Wilds" in suburban Minneapolis is worth a shit.
If it sucks, have the pro at Players Club call and get you on a private track. Those places should be begging for rounds.
You think? I'd imagine they are also pretty booked up. I know a lot of members would be going to the RC but there would also be a lot of members who have guests from out of town who want to play with them as well.
Chappell wins if he can get up and down from his layup position on 18, 112 out. If he pars, three way playoff with Moore and McIlroy. Edit update: Chappell has 23.5 feet for the win.
