I'm not a huge golf fan but my dad has an extra ticket to Wed, Thur and Sat for the Ryder Cup. Worth using vacation and going?
Definitely go. I've been to all the Majors and it's a lot of fun. Can only imagine what the experience is like at the Ryder Cup.
Go! As the guy that put together our trip for 2014 told me, be as American and as obnoxious as possible.
Cool. I didn't really have plans for this year and it would be pretty awesome to go to my dads first major with him.
It's not a major, it's a team event. Regardless like others have said, it is a cool ass event and should be fun as hell. I'm going with 3 other guys. Fyi, Wed and Thurs are practice round days. Sat will be the 2nd tournament day.
Ryder Cup updates........... Europe has 9 confirmed members: Jason SobelVerified account@JasonSobelESPN Updated U.S. Ryder Cup standings. Last week for the top-eight to automatically qualify. Volatility at the bottom.
How much you looking to spend? I like Abacoa, brought dahldennsull out there when he was down. North Palm is Awesome but a bit more than they should probably charge for this time of year Ive heard Madison Green is nice Most of the good places down here are private so it's best to know someone. My old club is in Boca it's a bit of a drive but its a fun track. Any questions about specific spots feel free to PM me
Can confirm. Pros: Jigga might give you free shoes. Cons: No gator sightings You have to play with Jigga.
Annual Captain's Cup this weekend. Slight format change this year. Golf, bowling, followed by table tennis (which is replacing poker). I'm ready for them to try and take the medal away from me.
My claim to fame was winning the ping pong tournament at the Texas Tennis camp as a kid. The scholly players were extremely competitive with each other and I dominated them. When I got home and told the story, my grandfather told me he won the giant ping pong tournament the army held in berlin right after ww2. He apologized he didn't pass down a random skill that would catch the ladies attention a little more.
I just moved here 2 weeks ago so I have zero knowledge of courses around here. I'm in Miami but I'll drive wherever
Depending where in Miami you are I'm like 90min north of you. Let me check what I got going on this weekend
If Rickie can take the Barclay's the stache better become a permanent fixture Tournament has delivered though.
I've bitched about the FedEx Cup on here before, but Sean O'Hair jumping nearly 100 spots in the rankings with a T2 this week is bullshit. Basically one decent week will qualify him for the Masters/US/Open plus some WGC events.
So I assume you have an issue with the majors too? Have one decent week during any of them also qualifies you for the others as well.
Ryder Cup things...the 8 auto qualifiers are DJ, Spieth, Phil, Patrick Reed, Jimmy Walker, Koepka, Snedeker, and Zach Johnson. Just outside are Bubba, JB Holmes, Rickie, and Kuchar. It's pretty ridiculous to me that Zach Johnson hung around to auto qualify largely because of his win at the Open in 2015. Gotta believe Rickie, Bubba, and Kuchar will for sure be captain's picks, but then the guys at 13-15 are Scott Piercy, Bill Haas, and Furyk, so the fourth captain's pick could be up in the air.
The Captains picks are not going to be super exciting either way. It's a year where someone like Rickie and Furyk honestly shouldn't make it considering their previous Ryder Cup records and so so seasons, but they'll end up being easy choices.
I wouldn't call Furyk an easy choice. He missed half the season and if you throw out his 58 there's not much else that would bring him into the discussion
I don't think he should be. But I think he will be for the committee given the other names he's going up against. It's shocking were that big a favorite considering the last few Cups and the bottom half of the team.
Yeah, I'm not really seeing the US being overwhelming favorites either. The 9 auto qualifiers for Europe are Rory, Danny Willett, Stenson, Chris Wood, Sergio, Cabrera-Bello, Rose, Andy Sullivan, and Matthew Fitzpatrick. I admittedly am not super familiar with how Chris Wood, Sullivan, and Fitzpatrick auto qualified, but the other names are all obviously pretty solid. Willett hasn't been that great since the Masters and Rory has had a down year by his standards, but Stenson and Rose are scary and I know they were paired up two years ago. Now that I've written all this and am looking at the Europe rankings some more, I can see it being much more even because the bottom half of their team seems pretty questionable like ours as well
