http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOHG0Kcr4Q4 Into Great Silence To be clear, this is a film. Beware, it's also 2 hours and 40 minutes long. The movie is split up into seven parts on youtube, if you feel like taking a break.
Taking History if Documentary Films this semester, I plan on providing some good additions to this thread.
I'm currently watching "Square Grouper". It's by the same guy who did "The U", and details the smuggling operation of the Zion Coptic Church into Florida from Jamaica a while back. Pretty crazy story.
I think Limelight is the best of the Billy Corbins other than Cocaine Cowboys. It's on netflix instant if you want to watch it too.
didn't see this one discussed in here. was released a month ago. good reviews on RT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfu4Venq99k
Watched the Imposter. Spoiler If this sketchy looking family really did do something to their son, then how is it logical they were trying to cover it up by pretending to believe this french con artist was their missing son? If anything it heightens suspicion. If they knew it wasn't Nicholas, they could have easily alerted the authorities with no suspicion of foul play on their part.
Spoiler Spoiler: JMO they wanted their son/brother/nephew back. junkie mom not on herron anymore. junkie brother dead. don't think anyone else was responsible for the death. mainly because those two were the only ones involved in the story of how he "called home, junkie bro answered, didn't wanna wake mom up" and nobody else in the family was involved there. the sister wanted her brother back. didn't buy the whole "she made me memorize those pictures" deal. probably just excited/nervous as shit and didn't have facebook on an iphone that she could show him so she just kept flipping through the same shit. She could have been in on it too, who knows.
Have you seen it yet? If so, how was it? I forgot I had this downloaded. Thanks for the reminder About to watch now, so I'll report back in a few.
I wasn't that blow away by The Impostor. Solid 6/10. I think Darkon, King of Kong, American Movie are far superior.
Dk if previously mentioned, but Azorian, rising of the K-129 on Netflix is amazing. Had never heard of this until I saw it two weeks ago. Unbelievable.
just started torrance of Dear Zachary, American Movie, Jiro Dreams of Sushi and Undefeated excited to watch them
If we're going to believe the Poly, do we not believe the first 2 she passed? I also think getting mad when asked "you know where your boy is, don't you?" is normal. Having said that, guilty anyway.
Spoiler Spoiler You're missing the crack head logic and the time of events. They were called and told "yep this is him here in spain" - what we're they going to say "no, not possible, we killed him." They also probably talked themselves into believing that pretending like it was him would forever end any speculation about what happened to him. She freaked when they said they wanted DNA from her/him. The brother's meet and greet with him is hilarious. "Shook my hand and said good luck" lol.
Spoiler Still don't see how they couldn't say it's not him after actually having seen him though. Maybe fear of being caught clouded their judgment and reasoning. Her freaking out doesn't really say much imo. Whether she's innocent or guilty, you could see how she would be freaked out in either case.
Saw the story on 60 minutes in December and started listening to his music since. Saw the documentary last week. Its incredible. It's insane how this guy went without becoming incredibly famous here in the states. He's currently touring. I'm considering going to NY for his show in April.
I'm watching Whores' Glory on Netflix right now. Pretty fucking fascinating. The Thai hookers in Bangkok are absolutely smoking. I did the math and you can have a dinner party and fuck them for about $50.
love that movie so much http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ck5AIB43p_I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snOmCDR89Xg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bbw9smbN5Ys
The whole drug story had me rolling. "And I continued using drugs all the way up until a little under a year and a half ago"
Loved this quote, also. " I was called to the bathroom at the cemetery to take care of something. I walked in the bathroom, and in the middle toilet right there... somebody didn't shit in the toilet, somebody shat on the toilet. They shat on the wall, they shat on the floor. I had to clean it up, man, but before that, for about 10 to 15 seconds man, I just stared at somebody's shit, man. To be totally honest with you, man, it was a really, really profound moment. Cuz I was thinkin', "I'm 30 years old, and in about 10 seconds I gotta start cleaning up somebody's shit, man."
That movie is like the ultimate argument for the benefits of specialization. Also made me want to visit Japan, which I never really had a desire to go to until then.
Watched Undefeated tonight. Great doc. Got so into it, nearly cried a few times (and would've Want that coach to replace Mack. He doesn't seem like he'd tolerate an OC side-fucking a homely mexi trainer while his wife is at home with child.
directv subscribers they are running a series of docs on the audience channel. pretty sure its not the first airing but last week was about somali pirates, was pretty damn good. this week its about the corruption of the banana industry (or maybe just one business, not sure), doesnt sound all that great but will give it a chance. hopefully annyong bluth makes an appearance
Spoiler When the kid that was nothing but trouble answered that question at halftime of one of the games, I was all
