Disagree about Our Brewery. Although i only went once and hated it so didn't go back. Big Lake is my fav beer, but location is meh.
When are you going? The beach obv. I prefer anything but the state park...we usually go to kouw park, it is just a bit further North. The State Park has the channel and lighthouse and all that, but it just gets very busy at times You can go to the outdoor discovery center or degraaf nature center for that nature shit. Theres a craigs cruiser, crazy bounce...BAM is a bowling alley with arcades and laser tag.
Urinal at Butch's. It's in the basement of the art gallery. We've had some issues recently with our sours.
Our Brewery > Big Lake due to it being downtown and having free popcorn. Big Lake has a much more curated list of beers, so almost everything is great. Our Brewery has some great beers and some not so great beers. Mostly my list was to point out that you're better off drinking human piss and urinal cake than going to New Holland.
The beach. Tunnel Park is great (and has a great sandy playground). Kouw Park is a little less traveled and better if you want a shaded playground. I'd avoid state park, but you might head that way to hike Mt. Pisgah. There also is a nice playground on the south side (near downtown) at Kollen Park. Captain Sundae's is a favorite for ice cream. They have a new putt-putt course next door. Downtown Holland has a couple of toy stores, a candy shop, and a number of ice cream/yogurt shops. If it's rainy, there is Crazy Bounce or the bowling alley (BAM). You could also travel into Grand Rapid's to go to the Children's Museum. Some people like the Dutch Village, but I don't get the appeal.
Yeah I noticed that haha..i agree and think they are overrated. I havent been to the new sports bar downtown yet.
I think you'll have some luck, although I don't know whether the South Arm might better for walleye and pike. Definitely find some lakers in the west arm. Did you see this interactive fishing map? http://www.fishweb.com/maps/charlevoix/lakecharlevoix/westarm/index.html Somebody in front of our place pulled a 36" pike out of Higgins Lake over Memorial Day. It was a huge fish.
Oyster Bay and areas by Somerest Pointe are good spots outside the Southarm. Stop by the new restaurant next to Ferry, was there over Memorial Day..
You were at the Landing and didnt hit me up? I tried to go on Sunday of Memorial Day Wknd, but the chef got rushed to the hospital and they close for a few hours. Got too drunk to go last wknd on the golf course. Heard the remodel is very nice though.
I was up there over MDW. I spent a day driving around the lake trying to talk myself into buying property up there.
Ha - same thing happened to me. Felt bad for the guy, I watched him turn away like 9 boats in 3 minutes. That had to sting.
The food was outstanding. I have a house near Somerset Pointe, where do u stay? All the tap rooms going into downtown BC is pretty exciting. My family owns the former Dairy Queen (Parkside Grill). I'll be up during the 4th, the water balloon fight during the raft races gets pretty intense. U ever see Mark Hollis up there? I see him occasionally at Glenn's, he owns a place just west of downtown
Family is directly across from Holy Island on the South Arm. Brother had dinner with Hollis at Boyne Mountain this winter, but I havent seen him up there yet. I'm trying to head up there for a few hours anyway on the 4th, but Torch is always where I go for the 4th so depends what kind of shape I'm in and how early my crew is heading out to the sandbar each day.
A close friend's parents live off Flagg Rd on the South Arm. We stayed there before our wedding at Shanty Creek and go up there every summer when my friend goes home for a week. Usually play a round or two at Boyne, spend a day on the lake, get drunk every night, etc.
None of you happen to have a hook up on boat rentals in TC do you? Going up to my parents place July 4th weekend and I want to rent a pontoon and maybe a couple jet skis.
Wife and I are headed up to my parent's cottage on Lake Mitchell in Cadillac next weekend....early forecast is mid 80's and sunny...would be perfect if that sticks.
Apparently TC just had a sewage leak contaminate their waters? I've only heard really basic stuff so far.
Holy shit, Hopcat is opening up a brewery here in Louisville. Nice. Now, if only Founders would follow suit
I think we've talked about it before itt, but Rick Devos is getting behind the hatred for our state flag that I also have. He offered $500 on twitter to whomever could come up with the best redesign and has been tweeting all the sketches over the last few days. There are some awesome ones out there. @rickdevos for those that care.
Annual fireworks show this weekend at Walled Lake. Bayside grill will be busy, but a great spot to watch, if you don't have a boat.
Why the hate for the flag? This is something I've never heard of. It always seemed like a fine flag to me. Not great, but nothing terrible.
It's considered a poor flag by flagologists, as it both conforms to general state flag construct (shield in the middle of a field of blue) and has too much action in the shield. Personally I think it is nice, but I'm sure we could come up with something more destinctive and pleasing to the eye without much difficulty.
Here are a few of them https://twitter.com/InsayneGear/status/743278168031793152 https://twitter.com/chrissysalyers/status/743235581078081536 https://twitter.com/TheAndyMcLean/status/743168529852051456
There are probably 100 that he's posted. I really like the outline of our state, the Mackinac Bridge, etc.
I'm not going to draw it, but a filled in outline of the state in green on a blue field would probably be pretty nice. Basically this on a flag with a solid navy blue field and a solid hunter green silhoutte: If you wanted to get a little funky, you use this silhoutte over the entire flag in your navy and green: and then put this in sky blue and navy on the opposite side so it is a two-sided flag:
I'm thinking about going there Saturday. Food menu looks awesome. Any recommendations? ~ taylor ~ I went to the Berkley Chop Shop. Excellent hair cut. R.I.P. my locks. Hair is shorter than it's been in nearly 5 years But it looks good and the woman loves it. Don't know if I'll go back there. Place was a bit :aero:
At some level craft beers are just good and I can't really pick between them in terms of what I like best. But Rochester Hills 4 Lyfe
RalfBully wants to make sure we integrate the rebel flag so that us Michiganders can also celebrate our southern heritage
This one looks like a proposal to replace the pride flag This looks like a logo for a hunting/camping retail chain this one looks like a state flag but I just don't like it.
