Not sure what a school like Wyoming would draw but I'd imagine close to $100,000. VU used to pay schools like Ball St $75,000ish
Rumor is the 200k number for CUSA may be a little low. We'll have to see. If we're going to get paid peanuts, may as well break up this league and create a regional 12 team conference that mostly consists of southern, rural, directional schools with a huge fucking chip on their shoulder. Some of the ADs are saying it'll 9 mil / 14 teams. So, about 650k per school. Not disastrous.
Love when P5 schools travel to an in-state G5. Matt L. StephensVerified account β@MattStephens 6h6 hours ago Colorado State, CU planning home-and-home games in 2023-24. Hoping for more beyond then http://noconow.co/298y8b7 #CSURams #CUBuffs
Wyoming doesn't have any in-state opponents to schedule but they've got Oregon coming in 2017 Their AD does a terrific job with such contests: Ole Miss, Texas, Nebraska and Oregon? That is bad ass
Yeah, Wyo always seems to schedule pretty well. Was looking at FBschedules the other day. Couple observations: - Old Dominion has a 4-3 lined up with VaTech (4 in Blacksburg, 3 in Norfolk). Also a 2-1 with UVA. - Charlotte has 1-1s with UNC, Maryland, and Duke - For some reason, Kentucky is going to Ypsilanti (EMU) in 2019. They do, but looks like they are moving it to on-campus sites in the future.
CSU is opening a new 41k seat stadium in 2017, so I am sure that is the driving force behind on campus games.
Lotta teams want in on that 757 recruiting. I actually think you'll see more P5s travel to mid majors in the future. Teams are taking a manageable road game in a 1-1 or 2-1 deal instead of shelling out big bucks to do a 1 and done series. Just today Oklahoma announced a 2-1 with Temple.
Power five schools have proposed that travel days can't be used as days off. Guarantee you group of five schools in the Mountain West region won't choose to adopt that. It would result in at least 3-4 days off per week in season for Boise, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado St, etc.
Georgia Southern was given a 2 year probation period for a couple of players cheating on their grades yesterday. No post season ban though!
This would suck for G5 schools unless these conferences agree to drop the FCS games. Bryan Fischer β@BryanDFischer 24m24 minutes ago Final thing from Larry Scott: believes other leagues (I.e SEC/ACC) will eventually move to nine game conference slate+title game.
New Belgium Brewing just gave Colorado St $4.3 million to create a beer porch in one of the end zone at their new stadium. That'll be so sick I'd be surprised if they're not picked up by the Big 12
Air Force, Arkansas St, Boise St, Cincy, CSU, UConn, ECU, Houston, Memphis, Northern Illinois, New Mexico, San Diego St, SMU, Tulane, Temple, UCF and USF to be vetted for potential membership in the Big 12 I'm guessing UCF, Houston, BYU and CSU would be the choices if they take four. BYU and Houston if they just take two I really don't want to see the MWC broken up as I think it's pretty perfect right now. I'll get to see six of these potential candidates play FB this fall
anyone who asked gets an interview. Now weather or not the "video presentation" is listened to by some janitor who is told to take attendance and shut the lights off when he's done is something else all together.
Boston Globe is reporting that Houston, USF, UCF, Cincy, Memphis, BYU and two other AAC members are the teams still being considered by the Big 12
Stoked to see Northern Illinois tonight. CBS Sports Network at 8:30 MT Wyoming's RB Brian Hill is really legit
Wyoming looking pretty darn good. Late start to this game has the second half just starting at midnight MT
Josh Allen looks terrific at QB for Wyo, kid is a redshirt sophomore 1 AM heading to the 4th quarter. What a good game
It's fucking 1:30 on Sunday morning Does BYU just request the game to be canceled in such a situation??
OT seems likely here at 1:55 AM....27-27 Triple OT..... Wowww... Cowboys win in 3OT on an incredible scramble by QB Josh Allen. What an epic game Josh Allen on the night: 19/29 for 245 yards, 2 TD/0 INT with 10 carries for 70 yards and that game-winning TD Brian Hill had 33 carries for 125 yards and 2 TD Jake Maulhardt had 5 catches for 106 yards and Tanner Gentry had 8 catches for 104 yards and 1 TD it might have taken Bohl a couple years but Wyoming looks like they have a legit offense. Chase Roullier is one of the best interior OL in the country in case you aren't aware
My G5 top 5. 1) Houston 2) Boise 3) USF 4) Southern Miss 5) App State Also considered: San Diego State, WKU, Marshall, Toledo, Navy, Western Michigan
I think SDSU is gonna prove to be the class of the MWC. Some damn good backs in the conference with Brian Hill, Donnel Pumphrey and Jeremy McNichols
NIU goes to Tampa for a meeting with USF. They could open up 0-2. Seems like most of their fans think their HC is incompetent.
Wyoming went to the fourth in a one-possession game at Nebraska. Sucks football games are four quarters Let's go Boise and SDSU
Wyoming is a well coached team. Thought they did everything they could to win today coaching wise, but once their QB was forced out of his envelope it fell apart. I think they are a year away from competing for the MWC.
The UTSA/Arizona State thread is cracking me up. Love how everytime a G5 plays at home against a P5 it's always "WHY IS [insert power school] PLAYING AT [insert mid-major]?!?!?!?''
