Rob Whalen will be recalled to start Wednesday's game against the Pirates, 680 The Fan's Kevin McAlpin reports. He posted a 2.40 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 112:44 K:BB in 21 starts between Double-A and Triple-A, and was ranked as the Braves' No. 29 prospect by Baseball America before the season. The 6-foot-2 righty has a good shot to stick in the rotation if he can put together a solid start Wednesday, as the Braves have very little big-league-ready starting pitching depth.
Braves Prospects @ProspectsBraves 4m4 minutes ago Kolby Allard done after 94 pitches, 63 strikes. 6.1 IP, 3H, ER, BB, 11K all three hits were weak infield singles
They said about 14 times how Whalen doesn't give up many homers. So of course he give up a 3 run bomb in the first.
Yes, Adell is a high school outfielder. His 60 time is one of the fastest ever recorded and he's 6`3 200. They say he could be Bo Jackson if Bo only focused on baseball. Also throws like 98 from the mound and 99 from the outfield.
Can someone embed this Swanson defensive gif? https://twitter.com/BravesReddit/status/761429712740683777
#Braves prospect Travis Demeritte, a former #Rangers farmhand, voted Cal. League's "Most Exciting Player" in @BaseballAmerica Tools survey.
http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/08/05/baseball-untouchables-national-league The Untouchables: The one player each National League team should not trade Atlanta Braves Dansby Swanson, SS Swanson was the No. 1 pick of the 2015 draft—by the Diamondbacks, who curiously packaged him to the rebuilding Braves in a deal for Shelby Miller last December. Though he’s scuffled a bit at Double A, hitting .261/.338/.410, he’s already a top-10 prospect on three of the four major midseason lists. All five tools are at least above average, and his speed/power combo could be exceptional when he arrives in Atlanta, probably in 2018.
I mean, did you see what Will Smith got? Kind of expected, IMO. That's why I was bummed we didn't sell off more parts at the deadline. Don't want to hear any of this bullshit about needing veteran presence in the clubhouse or needing certain guys for the new stadium. Average players are going for legit prospects. Hell, someone might give us a top 15-20 prospect for Frenchy. We need to capitalize. Hope we see Minter now.
Two legit prospects for a guy with a 4.60 xFIP and who made it to Miami in waivers? I definitely didn't expect that. Coppy obviously got more today than they offered at the deadline.
Two A ball prospects among the Marlins top 25. The Braves will receive infielder Anfernee Seymour and pitcher Michael Mader in the deal. Seymour is ranked as the No. 8 player in the Miami minor league system, while Mader is ranked No. 24, according to MLB.com.
Anfernee Seymour | Rank: 19 (Preseason: 13 - MIA) Team: Greensboro Grasshoppers (A)ETA: 2019Position: SSAge: 21 DOB: 06/24/1995Bats: S Throws: RHeight: 5' 11" Weight: 165 lb. Drafted: 2014, 7th (197) - MIA Scouting grades: Hit: 45 | Power: 20 | Run: 80 | Arm: 55 | Field: 45 | Overall: 45 The Marlins didn't have to go far to scout Seymour, a native of the Bahamas who played his high school ball just north of Miami in Delray Beach, Fla. He was one of the fastest players in the 2014 Draft class, and he was arguably the fastest player in the Marlins' farm system when they sent him to the Braves in the August Hunter Cervenka trade. Seymour stands out for his elite athleticism and game-changing speed, which scouts grade as an 80 on the 20-80 scouting scale, where 50 is average. A switch-hitter, his short, quick swing enables him to make a lot of contact, although power will never be part of his game. Always a threat to steal, Seymour finished second in the New York-Penn League in 2015 with 29 stolen bases, and he's already blown past that total this year in his full-season debut for Class A Greensboro. Seymour spent much of his pro debut roaming center field before moving to shortstop full time in 2015, where he committed 29 errors in 61 games. But he worked hard on refining his overall defensive game during instructional league, and the Marlins liked how his hands and strong arm played at the position, despite a high error total. Michael Mader, lhp Age: 22 Not overpowering, Mader, drafted out of Jeff Johnson’s Chipola (Fla.) JC baseball factory, possesses a fastball that sits 90-93 and his best breaking pitch is an overhand curve that has improved thanks to getting away from a big leg kick. Mader lacks projection, but has smooth mechanics and profiles as a back-of-the-rotation type.

Adonis is 11th in baseball in wRC+ since the second half started. Second amongst third basemen. He's 4th amongst third basemen in WAR. He's killing it at the plate and playing damn good defense. Guy may be earning his spot.
It seems like his defense went to another level after we brought him back from Gwinnett. Idk if the numbers back that up, but it seems like it.
If we have him for 5 years seems like a good piece to build around in the short term. Right now he's on my "please don't trade him" list.
I think it went from horrific to slightly below average. He's been working his ass off with TP and it shows. If the bat continues like it has been the defense is fine imo.
Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick The #Braves have claimed pitcher Chaz Roe on waivers. Recently with #Orioles
