I wasn't a huge Snit fan, just because it doesn't make sense to stay internal when doing a rebuild and pundits said before the season they expected our second half to outshine our first due to an easier schedule and prospect callups. But if he was willing to accept a 1 year contract, I see no downside. Home run by the front office, IYAM. Having Ron Washington on the staff is going to be fun.
Some thoughts: -Surprised there's still some people not on Team Snit after how the team played under him. Did he not earn it? I really don't get it. How the team played under him was a better sell then anything the other candidates could have said in their interview. Beyond that, wouldn't it send a shitty message to demote a member of the organization who exceeded expectations in his role? -Along those same lines, I think people wanting to hire Black and move Snit to bench coach don't understand the dynamic that would have caused. First of all, it's not like Snitker's message carries the same weight when he's not the manager...so it's not like he would have had the same effect in a different roles. This team wasn't a world beater when he was 3rd base coach. I think it also would have undermined Black among the players. You know at the first sign of adversity, rumors would fly about the players wanting Snitker. If Black really was the guy, I don't see anyway Snitker could have stayed on the big league staff. -Love the emphasis on player development among the staff. -Love the short-term nature of the deal. If last season was a fluke, move on. Not like we're going to compete for the Championship next year. It's all about development, improvement, establishing a culture, etc. -Found it interesting the front-office basically created this staff. Has a big-league manager ever have as little input? Another check for Snitker, IYAM. What other guy would be ok with that? Granted, I'm sure he's cool with Hernandez since he's an organizational guy, but how close was he with Washington? -How great is the hire of Washington for Swanson and Albies?
Yea this year's crop is complete trash. Pretty much anyone worth a damn has a team option with the exception of Hellickson, Nova, and Hill. We need to patch it together and get our shopping done next season. Next years class of free agent pitchers is nuts.
If the Braves can't be good, at least the Nats can suck. I'm from Virginia originally and cannot stand their cunty bandwagon fans.
What's weird is they don't seem to catch a lot of shit for this, or just missing the playoffs all together. Hell, they missed the playoffs twice as WS favorites. Maybe I just don't remember it.
• Travis Demeritte, traded from Texas to Atlanta this summer for Lucas Harrell and Dario Alvarez, has turned into an outstanding defensive second baseman, with plus range in both directions. He still has big power, and still has a lot of swing and miss, chasing sliders out of the zone -- but also nearly homering on a right-hander's slider that caught some of the plate. He's buried down Atlanta's deep prospect list, but there's real upside here even if his probability is pretty low.
If he can play "outstanding" defense at 2B and bop 20+ homers, I'm not sure if it matters how much the rest of his game develops. He'll find a spot in the bigs.
Y'all remember when that idiot wtx thought that was a good trade for the Rangers? Looks like mama's wrong again.
i didn't think it was a good trade for the rangers i said demeritte wouldn't make it to the bigs, which he won't
Careful guys. He posts in the mlb thread so that automatically makes him level 99 grandmaster baseball expert.
i mean i don't even care about him at all so i don't know why i was tagged itt we have odor and profar who are better, which is why i said he wouldn't have made it to the bigs he wouldn't, and i still don't think he will with the braves but whatever
Well we have shit sandwich at 2nd, so he very well could play soon as a darker version of Uggla for us.
Guy has never played above A ball and Albies will be our starting 2B at some point next year. That's a bad take
Albie's hasn't proven anything (nor has Travis). So until that point, we still have a shit sandwich. Prospects are just that until proven otherwise.
I knew about Albies, just like I know about our pitching prospects. We have a shit sandwich in our rotation, even though we have 15 prospects ready to roll. Albies is no guarantee
So they turned Turner Field into a Stadium Links course over the weekend, had a bunch of friends that went. Looks like its the same as Top Golf, but inside stadium venues. The pictures and videos looked awesome, apparently they create a 9-hole course. Padres did it recently as well. http://www.stadiumlinksgolf.com/ Can't find any at Turner Field, but here are what it looks like Spoiler

Greg: As a Braves fan, watching Javy Baez break out this season reminded me of multiple Cubs writers reporting that a Baez-for-Shelby Miller swap was close last offseason. Seeing how it played out and the return Atlanta eventually got for him, would you rather have Baez or the haul from Arizona? 12:05 Dave Cameron: The Arizona haul, easily. Inciarte is already a better player than Baez, and Swanson looks like he could be a similar caliber player, even if maybe a little less exciting. Poonrod: LOL Inciarte is a better player than Baez. I don’t know if the statement itself or the way that you put it so definitively is more comical. Not to mention comparing a young guy to a peak player is a third level of silliness. 12:54 Dave Cameron: Ender Inciarte is all of two years older than Javier Baez. They’re both young. If you don’t realize that, right now, Inciarte is way better than Baez, then you don’t understand baseball. Dave Cameron: You can get excited about Baez’s potential all you want, but Inciarte is clearly the superior player today.
