Saw this titled "Harry Potter and the Just Served your ASS-kaban!" and chuckled. Spoiler Expecto patr-OWNED HIM
Honestly, I still get the shivers from "ur a wizard Arry." I had no idea what a harry potter was going into the first book.
Went to a preview of Harry Potter world yesterday. Beforehand, went on Pottermore... House: Ravenclaw Wand: Walnut wood with a Dragon heartstring core 12 ½" and Rigid flexibility
Yea, well according to my $50 wand purchase, I am a Ravenclaw who is a defender and not aggressive yet not to be messed with...so I'm smart and powerful and kindly piss off. Luna Lovegood for life bruh!
I'm almost done re-reading the series. "HERE LIES DOBBY, A FREE ELF" caught me in the feels much harder than I expected.
I was not crazy about Dobby in Chamber of Secrets, but not liking him beyond that movie is just grade A faggitry. Almost everything involving the house elves is fantastic except for that old faggit Kreacher getting Sirius killed.
I hated that house elves had magic superior in some ways to wizards. It just never fit in with Rowling's world, to me, and reeked of deus ex machina. That being said, most of the time my controversial opinions are stupid ones.
Finished Prisoner of Azkaban on my first series read. I am really enjoying them because I've seen the movies but only barely paid attention because I wasn't super interested so I know the major plot points but I don't remember a lot of details. Really liked getting towards the end of this book with the reveal of Moony and Padfoot and the stuff with the Time Turner and Harry casting the Patronus charm. Also excited to start Goblet of Fire because I know shit is starting to get real now with the dark magic coming back
How terrible of a gift is a remembrall? We all forget things all the time, usually it's nothing important but nonetheless when is there ever a time when something hasn't temporarily slipped your mind? That thing would be lit up 24/7 and would drive me crazy, I'd spend all my time trying to figure out what I've forgotten and when I finally remember it it would be something mundane like how I forgot to buy orange juice or that I forgot my sister wanted me to call her. Unless it could be bewitched to light up different colors to indicate the importance of what has been forgotten I rate this magic 0/10 and would not buy for one knut.
Best book and movie, IMO! I could read that book 1,000,000 times. It's probably the best as far as staying the course and not getting caught up in silly side stories because the main story it tells is just so fantastic.
Started reading Philosopher's Stone to my 3rd grader. I love how rich the world is from the very beginning and how so many names and events are being hinted at that won't be paid off till much later.
Book 3 was Rowling flexing her writing muscles and taking the HP franchise from just a children's book into what eventually became a billion dollar enterprise.
http://io9.gizmodo.com/a-harry-potter-theory-that-both-explains-harrys-tiny-cl-1778880961 cliffs: Of course if that were true, then you'd think there would have been a (post-war baby making) boom in the year after Voldemort "died," meaning that the 1st years when Harry was a 2nd year should have been a huge class. It doesn't really seem to be.
Maybe those post-war potential parents were a lot like young adults today and thought "If we don't start popping out little wizards and witches" we'll have all these galleons, sickles, and knuts to ourselves" and thus never got on the baby-making train
