Should have clarified but yeah meant in general and then the Order. The fifth is probably one of the more polarizing books in the series. People either love it or hate it.
I loved book 5 because it was the longest. Those 11 hour binge reading sessions as a high school kid during summer vacation...quite literally nothing has ever replaced that feeling of a first read through after picking up your copy from Barnes & Noble, eating dinner then yoloing through the chapters until its 7 in the morning.
The last few chapters of 5 more than make up for the bad. I like it a lot, just has a large portion in the middle that is annoying. New book reader is right- 3 dah GOAT
Book 5 was my least favorite. Just chapters of Harry at his whiniest, a character I just wanted to falcon punch in Umbridge, and outside of the 'the only one he ever feared' chapter, a crappy payoff. The whole prophecy angle was stupid.
Oh I agree I was hoping for some more epic duels. Still my least favorite probably although the end made up considerable ground. Agree on 3.
First time I read/watched 6, I was disappointed with the lack of dueling following "The Only One He Ever Feared" Until I realized what an amazing book it was.
Definitely in the minority here, but I hated everything about the time-turner idea so I liked that book the least. The idea to me seemed like a kop out and could possibly lead to so many questions and plot holes. This Cursed Child plot sounds absolutely brutal to me.
4 > * how much would a UV tattoo like that cost? i've never gotten a tattoo and have no idea how expensive they are. guessing something like that is $500?
You and I are going to have words wow srs Time Turner opened up a Pandora's box that she managed to close by explaining how horribly wrong it can go just by simply encountering yourself in time travel. Absurd that they would let Hermione use it, though. Best book in the series, though.
You had a like until I hit that part. Couldn't, in good conscience, give you a like after reading that part. He was a dick in school but I forgive him for it.
His mom was awesome, but damn James rubbed me the wrong way. Didn't even have his wand on him when got GOT. "He's here, he's here!!!"
He was a dick, but he made HP so I forgive him. And by all accounts he was a decent person after school as he matured.
Personally I'm much more excited for the Fantastic Beasts movies then that play, and that was before I read the plays synopsis.
The more I think about it, the more I feel like I read a fan fiction. Didn't feel like a real HP story at all.
Hate how it relies so heavily on past characters. That's one reason I'm kind of excited about fantastic beasts since most of the characters from the Harry Potter story aren't alive yet. If only David Yates wasn't directing.
I had no problem with it relying on older characters, but there was a whole bunch of weird stuff that seemed so out of character for JK Rowling. will put in spoiler for those who want to read the transcript on their own. Spoiler HP's kid being sorted into Slytherin. Felt off. HP and GW embody Gryffindor yet one of their kids end up a slytherin? Nevermind that based on Albus Sevrus's actions in the story, he doesn't act like a slytherin at all. If anything, he is a Hufflepuff. Seemed like she needed a way for HP's kid to be friends with Malfoy's kid and decided to be lazy and put him in slytherin and be done with it. It just doesn't feel right at all Rumor that a time turner was used so Draco's wife could be impregnated by Voldermort? I mean WAT????? this is where everything feels very fanfic to me. makes no sense and seems really stupid. Voldy-Bellatrix love child. How does Bellatrix spend 9 months pregnant in the middle of a war between voldemort and the Wizarding community and nobody on either side notices? Don't you think Draco who is trying to disprove the rumors that Voldy fathered his son would tell everyone that voldy already had a kid? Just more continuity errors from JK that made no sense. Harry being a shitty father. This one really made no sense. I find it hard to believe that just because he grew up with the Dursleys that he has no idea how to be a good father to his awkward/shy son. Finally the butterfly effect trope. It has been done numerous times already. Very lazy for Rowling to go to this plot style and brought out everything that everyone hated about the time turners.
Watching the first movie with my son. Haven't seen it in ages. It's so enchanting. Excellent casting, faithful screenplay, one of Williams best scores. It's the modern day Wizard of Oz.
Fun fact I learned at a John Williams tribute concert: Williams chose to feature the celesta (the light chiming instrument that opens Hedwig's Theme) because the celesta's most recognizable use up to that point was in The Nutcracker...which is the story of a young child being whisked away to a magical world. Little tidbits like that always delight me.
He created the HP theme song (Hedwigs Theme) before ever seeing any of the film. They asked his to create music to go with the very first preview that didn't show any scenes it just had text. It was so good that it became the main theme song for the first movie and is now synonymous with the HP brand.
Ever been to the HP theme park at Universal? They pipe the soundtrack in subtly all throughout the streets and shops. It's awesome.
Transcript of the play releases tonight and there hasn't been a single post ITT. This is how you know it was a bad play. Nobody is excited
Also, it's a play that none of us can see, so no one cares. I mean, I couldn't even begin to care less about a Harry Potter play in London.

Three years after J. K. Rowling announced her boy wizard would hit the stage, “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” — no mere rehash, but a whole new chapter — proves a proper theatrical blockbuster. Not just at the box office, but onstage as well: a captivating story given a spectacular staging and — Rowling’s specialty — a big, big heart. Twenty years ago, Harry Potter turned a generation onto reading. “The Cursed Child” could do the same for theater.
Haven't found a negative review yet and the general consensus is that it's a potentially huge development for theatre in that it is attracting a segment of society that has shown almost no interest in theatre (i.e.: kids and milennials). You've been kind of down on it all along, but I was never sure why as the literary version has like a 4.5/5 rating and all of the pre-release reviews were glowing.
