I really like Born but that may be because I heard that one first. All three are fantastic, half way through Gast now. Edit: Gast finished really strong.
Love Trilateral Progression and the live album from that era. After that, they kind of lost me. Songs got a little too dense maybe?
Slugdge. Blackened death with a touch of sludge. Personally I don't like straight sludge metal, but just like grind, you mix a little in with death metal and it blends well.
Damn. That's the best track I've heard out of the one's we've been given so far. It makes me think of something off TSHF. Sounds unique as well though. Shaping up to be a quality release.
I never thought we would see another Mike Howe Metal Church album but its finally happening. He should have never left and why the fuck wasn't he singing in some other band for the last 20 years? He's awesome. He sounds like James LaBrie with actual testicles. Not that this song absolutely blew me away or anything. Its fine and all but expectations are high.
i dont accept that premise if you're into Reload era Metallica, give it a listen during the afternoon
Load/Reload actually have some good songs supposedly James Hetfield originally wanted to record the guitars more down tuned
who is the band that you guys (consciously or otherwise) judge all heavy music against? you guys might have guessed that it's Metallica for me Odin if you say Between the Buried and Me, i will come punch you, even if i need a step ladder

Blind purchase in the 90's, was quite pleased with this album and the one that followed in 2000. Unfortunate they never gained much of a following.
Pretty excited about this. Blessing In Disguise was one of my favorites as a kid. I played that thing constantly. Howe sounds amazing after all this time. They even remade "Badlands" for old times sake www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0h9m6eMC_M Spoiler "HAVE THE BADLANDS WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON{/Spoiler]
i just started attempting to go through their albums i feel like i need to start again to really get my money's worth from bands like that
Pat Robertson: Beware Satanic Rock Music That 'Summons Demons' Submitted by Brian Tashman on Tuesday, 1/12/2016 12:20 pm Today on “The 700 Club,” Pat Robertson fielded a question from a teenage viewer who wanted to know if it is a sin to listen to rock music. The televangelist said that while people shouldn’t try to completely avoid mainstream music, they should be wary of listening to songs that may contain violent, Satanic lyrics and beats that could summon demonic beings. “It depends on what rock you’re listening to,” he said. “Some of the stuff is just evil. They used to talk about killing your parents and there were just some other things. There were odes to Satan. You don’t want that stuff coming into your mind. There’s some beat that’s out there that, you know, probably isn’t all that bad, although in one Indian context, they were playing rock music and the person said, ‘Why are you calling on the demons?,’ because that was the kind of music they used to summon demons.”
This band got a lot of praise on the internet the past year. I have to say with Black Metal it's hit or miss for me but this was a big hit.
I've been thinking about this since you posted it. Naturally, it would be easy for me to say BTBAM but I don't think you can use a prog band as your "gold standard", which means also no Opeth. I thought about Necrophagist for a while but ultimately decided there was a better answer. Spoiler
I love this track by Withered. What would you guys call this kind of music? It's obviously rooted in death metal, but doesn't sound like straight up dm to me. Spoiler
I know there are some Mustaine haters here but the new Megadeth album is by far the best since Endgame and maybe even the System has Failed.
My thoughts exactly. It's amazing. No filler, just awesomeness throughout. Title track is still my favorite. This Deth' album made me fill like a kid again.
This is probably my most listened to track the past couple of years. These guys are awesome. Deserve more exposure
Broderick was fine although nothing he did solo wise seemed very memorable to me. Kiko played some interesting stuff on this new one, he's definitely more of an outside the box style player. Have to see how memorable it all is a while down the road after I've let Dystopia fully digest however.
you mean like last year when the nominees were mastodon and then like 4 bands that were on the dio tribute album and jack black's band won?
