At this point, the only instructions I have are YouTube vids. I was planning on going to Lowes and buying their best 6-mil sheathing.

Had the job quoted and ran .49$ a sqft. I can buy the material for .05$ a sqft. Obviously I'm not a professional but I believe I can still do a good enough job to avoid paying .45$ a sqft in labor. Total crawlspace is 1100 sqft.

Home depot has the good heavy 15 mil stuff, atleast available on their website they do
the tape for the joints is a big key, you gotta have good tape, the tape we get from Stego and the likes for commercial is the stickiest shit I have ever seen.

    where are you?
You may try to lookup some contractor supply places in your area, they will have the good heavy stuff and the tape
The stuff we buy from contractor supply houses usually comes with a few rolls of tape per roll of plastic

Im in Raleigh, NC and actually work for a Building Materials company. Locally we only stock Grip-Rite Medium Duty 6 Mil Poly Sheeting. I can get it cheaper than the 6 mil at Lowes or HD but Im not sure yet if its the exact material I need.

The contracters I had who gave me an estimate quoted me 6-mil. That being said, I may go up in density because I am installing it.

do you have piers and plumbing and stuff you are going to have to cut it around?
if so, you are really gunna want that tape to seal up any cuts and joints
I read somewhere of some people using a mastic at the joints, which I guess could work, but at the penetrations it will be hard to seal

Other than the water heater and furnace on the ground, I have nothing else to avoid. I'll definitely get the tape and overlap 6in to 12in. Haven't decided that yet.

Just signed a contract to buy a house today and started the application process.

What's reasonable for a home warranty. I know a lot of the mortgage world as I work in it but don't know shit about home warranties.

Well Lowes had higher same store sales comps this quarter. For the first time in about 10 years. So they're trying, it's cute.

So what's up with everyone's hatred for Lowes? I have both right beside each other but I usually head to lowes because I know exactly where everything is that I need. Would be an easy switch for me with some compelling argument.

Did you know: Home Depot is the #4 retailer in terms of revenue

They got beat out by Walmart, Kroger, and Costco in 2015.

I've seen them as high as #2 before

I shop at HD out of brand loyalty because I spent about 10% of my childhood there with my dad on weekends. Ironically, he now shops at Lowes.

I think it's a Ford v Chevy thing. I grew up in a town that had a Lowe's for a long time before we had a Home Depot. So I'm brand loyal to Lowe's.

Now the town I live in doesn't even have a HD but we have a Lowe's.

When I was in college I worked for a home builder who only had an account at Lowes, so I knew lowes in and out and was pretty happy with them, thought they were the exact same store.
My college roommate swore by HD but, since all my experience was lowes, I didnt listen to him.

Now I am in commercial construction and have a HD card and a Lowes card in my wallet at all times and I will drive out of my way to get to a HD over a Lowes that is close by. (only exception being in San Marcos, cause there isnt a HD for like 30 miles)

Its hard to explain, but they seem to be more consistent in my mind. I know what HD has, and what literally EVERY HD has. Lowes seems to leave too much of their inventory choices up to local management, so their stores vary too much.

Grew up going to Lowes. Only knew HD from Braves telecasts. I now shop almost exclusively HD due to their location and the HD spokesman's smooth voice.

However, I've found, at least in my area, that Lowes has a better selection and better prices on major appliances. It's the only reason I have a Lowes card in my wallet.

I'm under contract on a house and I will be replacing all kitchen appliances. I plan on buying everything at Lowe's because apparently if you get a change of address package at the post office they give you a 10% coupon for Lowe's, and Lowe's is 3 points per dollar spent on my credit card and HD is 2 points.

    Length and price.

First year is going to be paid upfront by the seller up to $450 but I know the seller and he likely won't get around to it very quickly so trying to help push him along.

Then I imagine I would just want to renew annually which is a monthly payment typically, correct?

I think most are paid yearly, and have like a $60 or $80 deductible

I honestly don't know the consensus on what's reasonable. I can tell you that I had one for the first year that I owned my house. The policy was about $650/year and covered a lot of things, but not the roof(I could have added on, but roof had just been redone). Any claim has a deductible, and many of the smaller claim worthy things I could fix for less than the deductible. I didn't renew after the first year, because the previous home owner paid for the first year of the warranty.

I've always subscribed to the school of thought that I'm going to put about 1% of the value of my home back into it every year with repairs, maintenance and minor upgrades. Helps me manage things better.

Unless things have changed, Home Depot also gives those 10% off moving coupons. Extra CC points is hard to argue against though.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- An image of a Staten Island Home Depot worker wearing an anti-Trump hat went viral on the Internet Wednesday, leading to threats against her life.

Krystal Lake, 22, of St. George, was spotted wearing the controversial hat during her Sunday morning shift at Home Depot, located on Forest Avenue in Mariners Harbor.

The hat reads: "AMERICA WAS NEVER GREAT."

The Home Depot near me is subpar. My wife and I, shopping separately, have had a number of experiences with employees there who were rude and unhelpful on pretty simple stuff, which has been the opposite of the experiences I've had at literally every other Home Depot I've ever been to. Their selection also isn't as good as I've seen at other places. I'm probably not going to drive past the Lowe's by my new place to get to that shitty HD.

I shop at Home Depot for items that I need quickly and more high tech items (they have a good amount of crossover with Best Buy). But right next to my work there is a local hardware store that is larger and has much better variety of items than Home Depot, it's called Jerry's Home Improvement.

I bet their two locations sell more inventory than the 4 Home Depot and the 2 Lowes locations combined.
