I just started playing soccer about a year ago (at age 21) and have made a lot of progress with all aspects of my game since then. I haven't played since I was 6 so had a lot of work to do to become decent. Figured some of you have probably played on some levels and wondered what those were. Currently, I'm dominating tri-weekly pickup games on campus. So, that's my highest level of play. What is yours?
Hit 100 juggling the other day, was very proud of myself as I don't pick up a ball more than once a month or every other month now.
In all seriousness, I'm a decent passer and shooter, but I don't really have any moves once I start dribbling.
How much have you played? And how much do you play currently? I'm a pretty solid shooter with a powerful leg and I am typically a good passer, but like you, my dribbling lacks. The past week or two I've started to gain a little confidence in my ability and my dribbling has noticeably improved. I just keep it basic and close to my foot at all times and defenders have started to give me more space, allowing me to take a fairly open shot. I'm new but trying to become legit. Gonna make my pro-debut in 2015 at age 26.
I played when I was 5 years old, and the next time I played I was 26. Since then, I've gone out and played sporadically with friends, sometimes multiple times per week, sometimes once every few weeks. If I could get more comfortable on-ball, I think I could actually be pretty decent.
have played in 3 adult league games this season have 4 assists also scored twice, but both in offsides positions (first one way highly questionable)
Was a recruited walk-on at UVA, realized i'd never get any playing time so I played club for 4 years. Won the club national championship one year. Now I play in a couple of leagues during the week, mens and coed. Have been playing keeper despite not playing it regularly since 8th grade, still one of the better keepers in the league, most teams just stick a fat guy or anyone who is willing in net.
bossed around at left mid for a while because i was the only one skilled with both feet, took corners and set pieces never devoted enough time to fitness and really didn't want to pursue it further besides the occasional club team or off-season friendly league actually drove by a field today and got the itch again, really need to go get some new cleats (adidas, of course)
I hate driving by nice fields. Drive by 1 pretty much every day and pisses me off that I don't really play anymore and too lazy to get myself in good enough shape to be in an outdoor league.
Had a couple d1 offers. Got burnt out with soccer so I never played college. Now Im a slave to engineering .
I played for a top youth club in the States that was managed by an ex-player from Ajax, which of course means I am amazing. I also love half naked pictures of guys, specially Nani.
Played club soccer from age 9-14, we were pretty good in our area(Tampa). Played left wing, not the most skilled with the ball but had some great crosses. Played for my middle school 6th to 8th grade and was a striker, usually scored a goal or two a game but we sucked. I could finish pretty well but wish I was a step or two faster.
Played club for Alta Loma Arsenal ('82), we weren't nearly as good as the other Arsenal age groups though. Played against Landon Donovan quite a few times before he headed to the U-17 USSF residency program in Florida, he played for another club team in the city. We were a bottom 2nd division (Gold) team in the Coast Soccer League. Was kind of a jack of all trades positionally, preferred playing on the wing. I wasn't that fast but a decent crosser and could read the game fairly well. Was completely burnt out after my senior season in h.s. and stopped playing. Took for granted how ridiculous of shape I was in thanks to soccer.
started out at center mid back when I was little then moved back to 'stopper' then sweeper by the time I quit to do swimming full time before my junior year of high school.
Played since I was 6 all the way through H.S. Forward and winger. Was decent and speed was my game. Decent shot and crosses. Problem was I never practiced outside of school once I hit H.S. Was to interested in pussy and weed. Played high numerous times as well as practiced lol. Still don't know how I ran so much and wasnt fazed lol Still started all through H.S. and remember going into my Sr. year my coach taking me out to dinner asking me to basically take this shit seriously and stop smoking so much lol. If I knew then what I know now kind of thing. May have went further if I had done the right thing in H.S. Play pick up ball 3 times a week although it's been a while since I went out. Was in a couple leagues, 7 aside and full. Want to get back into indoor...always was my fav...
Pretty good, lately. Used to be rough but now its typically one of the best out there. Had a first touch goal in yesterday's game to go up 2-0. (I scored the first goal too. )
