Bacon is the best, but the least consistent. It just requires an ounce of effort to be done right and not alot of places can manage that. EV people: The BEC (on an everything bagel) at S&K Deli on 2nd Ave and 5th St is god's gift to mankind.
Since we've hung out a bunch of times Fancy is on a first name basis with us, so jaimej said that knowing he'd know who.
Kind of a funny story: Me and my girlfriend have a tradition of going to Babbo for special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) and we always ask for the "steak for two" as "steak for one" because we usually get so many pastas we don't need a gigantic steak. The waiter always has to go ask management if they can make it for one instead of two and they always say yes. This time the waiter came over to us after he served us the steak and told us that the steak he gave us was reserved for Mario Batali that night.
That's awesome. I once had the opportunity to golf at Bayonne, that ridiculously nice course in gross, industrial New Jersey. They have a private ferry that leaves from southern Manhattan and goes straight to the course. I thought that was pretty baller, being able to ride on that. We tee off and all of a sudden, a Bell helicopter swoops in over the first tee box, and lands somewhere near the driving range, close to the water. Caddie tells us that high profile members often helicopter in, and that Mario Batali was playing a few time slots after us, and that was his preferred method of getting to the course.
Got a fat open table gift certificate as a late wedding present. Going to Jean Georges for lunch on Saturday. Anyone been?
Oh the weather outside is weather... KJROD20 and I are on our second beer and the couch game is strong. Gonna have a game night with some of our neighbors later.
Been to his steak spot in Vegas, it's impressive and tough to complain about. Had these two this past week in NY, glad to get out before the storm. Both were fantastic in their own style and way. http://raouls.com/ http://www.americanwhiskeynyc.com/
Kicked it at Malt and Mold for a while and then left with a bunch of beer. Went to a couple different parties in my building. Was tight.
Cops were awesome. "Someone was complaining about you so we're just going to act like we're talking to you."
Yesterday I passed the skier when he was out walking around, maybe on his way to do this. I thought a guy walking around with ski equipment was funny, but I never expected it could get any better, and it did.
Let's not get picky, both are phenomenal. Uncle Boon's is more narrow in menu scope, since it's Thai-style drinking food. I just got back from Thailand and those two are the only ones that even come close to the authenticity of actual Thai food. Very good, but not god-tier, are Sum Tum Der and Kiin Thai. Sum Tum Der is cool because it's mostly Isaan food, which is probably my favorite of the four styles of Thai food. Northern is good too.
If you guys watch Bourdain's Parts Unknown on CNN, there is an episode on Thailand where he travels around with the owner of Pok Pok, Andy Ricker.
I just had the Chicken Shack at Shake Shack and it is comically superior to Fuku. May have been better than Chicken Fil A.
What's the best airport to fly in/out of if I'll be in upstate for 3 weeks? I'm pretty set on flying to into either JFK/LGA because the rental car options are better for me. Just can't remember which of those two is the better airport.
Been waiting for this and boooo, I hate when everyone I want to see is split between the three days. Was hoping there would be a clear 1 day to go, although Sunday is close.
I guess Sunday? Not that impressed with any day. Panorama is gonna really mess up gov ball and that sucks
I like the lineup too but it's too staggered Saturday is my personal favorite but also has the worst headliner of the three
Miike Snow and maybe M83/Catfish are the only acts I'd want to see on Saturday, and since we got tickets to see Miike Snow at the Warsaw I'll pass on that day. Friday and Sunday are hard because both days have different draws. Friday has a bunch of acts I like and haven't seen live: The Strokes(saw once 10+ years ago), Beck, Of Monsters and Men, Matt & Kim(saw once), Bloc Party and De La Soul; plus Big Grams interests me. Sunday has a bunch of acts I LOVE and have seen multiple times: Kanye, Death Cab, CHVRCHES and Two Door Cinema Club. Beck is a big draw since I've never seen him, but all 4 acts on Sunday I'm familiar with their entire discog, so would be worth the price of admission. tl;dr, but, I'm torn.
