This thread/life moves too fast. Feel like we were just hearing about Fancy post-Roost Bumble dates seeing the Gramercy pad rooftop
awww The Roost you were so good to me The roof has been kind to us. Mostly for her, as she gets to WFH all the time.
Roost was a slam dunk. I kicked things off with my future wife there. The bartender started giving me funny looks, though, when he'd see me three times/week with a different girl.
Any of you guys had Traif? I've heard it's bomb and I'm going there on Saturday night. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Also, YES Big Apple Duck. Definitely get the tasting menu. It's like $50-60 for 11 courses, all incredible.
Traif is awesome, went because of this thread two summers ago and it was really good. Thanks for bringing it up again. Had forgotten about it and will try to go this weekend.
So we'll be staying 3rd avenue and 39th street...any lunch/brunch recommandations in the area open on Saturday? Open to all kinds of cuisine.
Any natural/organic wine sellers/shop would be great as well. Would love to bring back a few bottles. I've read a bit about Thirst, but it's not in the area.
Chambers St. Wine, Astor Wines and Spirits, and Appellation Wine and Spirits (this one is exclusively natural wines)
We went to Traif on Saturday night and sat in the back garden area, which I recommend - not as loud and more space. The tasting menu wasn't available; they'll only do it for parties of 3+ on weekend nights and there were just two of us. It would have been $50 pp. We ended up getting: - Burrata with bacon marmalade - Tuna tartar - Duck confit - Scallops - Jumbo lump crab Everything was amazing. The scallops were out of this world - never to be missed. The crab was very good, but I would probably try something else in its place next time. I will be going back to Traif many times, and recommend it to all. We each had two cocktails and it came to $150, so pretty reasonable given the quality.
I'm at 29th and Madison - where should I go for dinner/drinks tonight? Need to be under $50 since I'm here for work. Ideally a place where I can sit at a bar and eat as that is my preferred route when traveling for work and thus eating alone.
The Cannibal or Black Barn would be my recs. Cannibal smaller and a little more casual, both have great food and atmosphere.
Ain't no reservations at Lucali I think they might for groups of 6 or 8 but good luck getting someone to answer the phone
I signed a partnership with Batali & Bastianich Restaurant Group for work. Have gotten to eat at all their restaurants in NYC over the last month for free and had lunch with Batali & Bastianich. Pretty fucking incredible experience overall. Assuming life is downhill from here.
Is it weird if I just link my company's site? I did that once in another thread to hook people up and got gang raped (which I normally enjoy but in this case idk wasn't in the mood) Spoiler www.oasiscollections.com
Yea essentially-- you stay in a cool home that is handpicked and you get 24/7 concierge service. Wanna have a nice meal? Set you up at La Sirene. Wanna go to the gym? Free passes to soul cycle. Honestly if any of you have questions or interested in something feel free to PM me. Happy to trade soul cycle passes for hand stuff.
Will be back in town for a few days next April, taking the wife to see a show for her birthday and chill in the city. Did all the big stuff the first time around so will be nice to do a little more exploring and see some other sites off the beaten path.
Currently debating with the fiancée whether to move into one of the new high rises being finished in downtown BK. Love cobble hill/Carroll gardens for the obvious charms, but we toured City Point and it's ridiculously nice. Not much more expensive than we pay now and it's got W/D in each unit, central HVAC, rooftops and grills, plus a Target, Trader Joe's, and movie theater in the base. But living in a virtual mall seems weird. Conflicted.
Apartments look bigger too. We've been making do with 550 sq ft Bike storage, doorman, grocery storage for deliveries, viewing deck on the 55th floor. Ground floor also has a few restaurants and a huge food truck-type market. Century 21 too. Sick of schlepping 60 pounds of laundry to the laundromat once a week Smith Street would still be only 5 blocks away. Ugh rationalizing out loud
Literally all your quick shopping needs would be in your basement. Nothing better than not having to go 10 blocks for an ingredient you forgot
